Ignore the beyond boring presenter but this is what I imagine their house to be like
————————————————————————
"We have many things to celebrate tonight, my dear." Alex's voice appeared behind Luna as she pulled out all the bottles of alcohol she had just bought.
The bakery had been open for almost a year now and was thriving much to Luna's surprise. It was surprisingly easy to manage both stores from London, making the occasional journey up to Sheffield just to check everything was still going smoothly.
They had moved in to the house Alex had bought them just before Christmas but due to Alex's busy schedule and new album release, they had only just got everything in and settled.
The album release of Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino had been nerve wracking to say the lease. Alex knew it was a left turn for the monkeys but he believed in this album more than any other and with Luna's support in all those times he considered scrapping it and writing another rock album, it had finally just been released.
"Oh yeah?" Luna smiled at his voice. She turned her head and saw that his beard was getting out of control now. Never did she think Alex would suit a beard but he had been growing it along with his hair. It made him look older but way more sexy than any amount of gel could do.
"Finally moved in, album's been released." He listed, leaning against the kitchen top behind her. Luna arranged the bottles on the counter top as he moved around her. She always noticed the way they moved when neither of them were talking, it was almost like a dance.
"I just love this house, Alexander" She finally replied when all the bottles were organised. By then he was eating the crisps she had laid out on the table. He spun around as if her words had caught him out while he was doing something he wasn't supposed to.
"I wish it had a bigger garden" He looked out of the back doors to where their terrace was. Ingrid had had her say in the design of their house but the terrace was Luna's favourite part. The garden furniture was beautiful and gave them a lovely look out onto other London buildings.
"It's perfect" She walked over to him, placing her hands either side of his torso and sliding them round to bring their chests together. He automatically leant down and pressed his lips to hers before bringing his hand up to her face.
"Let's have some fun, baby" He smirked down at her. Just as he said that, the doorbell went off. Luna leapt from him and practically skipped to the door. Alex watched from behind, admiring her as always.
Luna opened the door to Miles, who leapt onto her without hesitation. Miles was rarely the first one to a party but when it came to Alex's he wanted to spend as much time with him as possible. He had a bottle of tequila in his hand and the other wrapped around her.
"He's in the kitchen" She laughed, knowing who he was really there for. Miles kissed her cheek and walked past her to Alex. As she went to close the door, she saw Jen and Josh walking up the road. This was going to be awkward with Miles. "Hey! Welcome!" She yelled at them. Jen sped up and wrapped her arms around her best friend.
"Hey!" They greeted each other, squeezing each other tightly.
Within half an hour, everyone had arrived. Matt arrived without Breana which was odd, Jamie and Katie arrived not long after them. Nick and his wife Kelly arrived and luckily Carla had managed to come down for the weekend. Ingrid arrived, accidentally arriving at the same time as Harry. Luna's face was a sight when she opened the door to the two of them standing there.
"Hello" She laughed at the timing. They both awkwardly stood there, smiling.
"Lovely house" Harry cut through, kissing Luna on the cheek and moving past.
Once everyone was in and in the kitchen, Luna opened the back door to give them some more room and to allow the smokers to still be included. Everyone mingled, either catching up after not seeing each other or just meeting and learning knew things about one another.
"I am going to make you the best cocktail you have ever had" Alex grabbed Luna's waist and yanked her towards him. He had already had a few drinks and it was clearly hitting him. Luna just melted into him and let him sway them side to side. She turned her head to the side and allowed him to smother her in kisses.
"Uh, Al, do you reckon I could borrow you for a sec?" Matt asked, looking rather nervous. Alex immediately nodded, kissing Luna again.
"Hold that thought." He muttered to her. She nodded and started mixing the drinks.
He followed Matt to wherever he wanted to go. He decided on standing outside so Alex closed the door behind them for privacy.
"What's up?" He asked, sitting on his new garden furniture. Matt sat next to him and sighed.
"Breana and I are getting a divorce." He confessed. Alex's heart plummeted into his stomach. This was the last thing he had ever expected to happen.
"Mate," he started but he couldn't finish. It had pulled away all his words. "Are you okay?" He put his hand on his back in hope of some sort of comfort.
"Not really. It's my fault." He sighed. Alex saw the heartbreak in his friend and hoped he could help somehow.
"Don't blame yourself. Sometimes these things just don't work out." Matt was already shaking his head to tell him he was wrong.
"I had an affair." He met Alex's eyes, there was so much guilt and pain in them. Alex's hand stopped moving as he sat in shock. Matt was the last one he had ever expected to do something like that. It rendered him beyond speechless.
"Matt..." he sighed, not sure what to say about that. Matt nodded at his reaction.
"I know. I don't know how I let it happen. I remember thinking when you and Luna first got together, you even think about hurting her I would fucking crush you and there I was hurting Breana everyday." He put his head in his hands so Alex just tried to comfort him again.
"When was this?" He asked. Matt rubbed his face harshly.
"Last week we decided. I told her about the affair a few weeks ago. She was not happy obviously, she's been in LA ever since." He explained. Alex chewed at his lip.
"Has she told anyone?" He asked. Alex was sympathetic but also curious of how this could have happened.
"Don't think so. I suppose she thinks I'll tell you, you'll tell Luna, who will reach out to her." He leant back against the chair and the two men stared at each other for a moment.
"I'm sorry." Was all Alex could think and say at that point.
"We don't all get it right first time I guess." Matt sighed. Alex shook his head but he wasn't sure whether he was agreeing or disagreeing.
"Do you regret it?" He asked. This was so new to Alex, he wouldn't dream of being with anyone else other than Luna. Of course, in past relationships there had been temptation where he had almost cheated but that's just how he knew he wasn't happy in that relationship.
"Yes. It has caused so much damage to our relationship regardless of how it was doing as well and it might be damaging to me when we discuss custody of Amelia." He met Alex's eyes and their hearts dropped together.
"Oh no." Alex gasped, bringing his fingers to his mouth and running them along his lips nervously. "Bre wouldn't try and take her away would she?" Alex adored that kid and to think she would be taken away from Matt almost broke his heart.
"I'd like to think not. She knows how much she means to me. I would give up everything for her but they always favour the mother and I'm in the wrong here." He looked up to the sky as if he were praying for some sort of resolution.
"Look," Alex put his hand on his shoulder. "I'm assuming the next stage of your life is going to be difficult but you know I'm always here for you, Jamie and Nick too. Luna would kill a man for you. You have so much support, you will get through this." He reassured him. Matt nodded and they hugged.
"I just don't know if I deserve to just yet." He muttered.
Alex watched him intently, not knowing how to respond to that. It was such an adult problem, divorce, and Alex was so used to feeling like such a teenager especially when he was around Luna. It snapped him back to reality, that his best mate was going through this.
"Let's go back inside." Matt suggested. "I don't want this to dampen the mood, I just had to tell you." The two men stood up and embraced each other warmly. Alex wanted to hold onto him and protect him at all costs. It pained him that he might not be able to prevent him from the hurt he is going to go through because of this.
They returned to the lively party and Alex immediately went to find Luna, who was in the living room with Carla. The girls were stood by the bookshelf, both with a glass of wine in their hand, indulged in a content conversation.
"Speak of the devil." She beamed as soon as he entered. The weight on his heart lifted as soon as she smiled at him.
"Hey." He breathed into her side, kissing her cheek hello. "Did I interrupt?" He wondered. The girls shook their heads.
"We were just catching up but I should probably get back to my new friend." Carla winked at Luna, who giggled. Alex was beyond baffled which made Carla laugh. "I'll see you two in a minute." She squeezed Alex's arm and left them in their living room.
"Is everything okay?" Luna asked, sensing that there was something wrong. She had seen Alex and Matt in a serious conversation outside but decided not to pry until he brought it up.
"Matt and Breana are getting a divorce." He confessed. Luna's face dropped instantly, she had to put her glass on the mantlepiece so she didn't drop it.
"What? Why? How did we not see this?" She questioned. "Oh my god, is he okay? Is she okay?" She panicked. Alex tried not to smile at her endearing reaction.
"He had an affair." He said calmly. Luna almost fell over.
"Matthew?" She gasped. Alex put his hand on her shoulder to keep her upright, she had clearly had some to drink. Maybe this wasn't the best timing.
"I know. It's a lot but we have to be supportive." He told her. It was hitting Alex like a ton of bricks as he spoke, how this is how adults speak. He couldn't let Luna see his tiny mid life crisis however.
"Of course. Oh my god, Bre." She stressed. Alex pulled her shoulder towards him and held her close as she processed the information.
"Lu, this is probably inappropriate to say since my best mate is getting a divorce but I love you so much. I just wanted you to know that." He said, feeling her heart pound against his chest. She knew why he was saying that and squeezed him tightly to reassure him.
"I love you too." She grabbed his face and kissed him passionately. "Come on, lets go get you that cocktail." She winked. He kissed her quickly and they joined everyone again in the kitchen/patio area.
Everyone was already drunk and dancing to the music blaring from their new Bluetooth speakers. Luna started to mix drinks together to make her own concoction while Alex danced like a dad at a wedding.
Luna noticed that Miles and Carla were missing, she just prayed they were talking somewhere and not fucking in their new house. They had been getting close throughout the night, unknowingly to Alex.
Eventually, slower songs came on and everyone sat in the living room. Luna took her seat happily on Alex's lap, giving him the cocktail she had made and watched as he sipped it.
"Gorgeous." He complimented as he smacked his lips.
Miles and Carla returned when everyone was in the living room, slipping smoothly without notice while everyone was laughing about something else. Miles caught Alex's eye, looking quite confused. Luna turned Alex's face to hers and kissed him to distract so he didn't ask too many questions.
"Didn't expect that." He whispered in her ear once they had broken apart. Luna nodded subtly but her eyes told him that she agreed.
Harry and Ingrid seemed to be getting along as well. Luna couldn't believe what was happening before her eyes. All her friends were pairing up when they were meant to be just coming over for a drink. She almost laughed at the idea.
It wasn't long before taxi's were being called and some questionable choices were being made over who was sharing a cab. Alex and Luna stood at their door waving to everyone before closing it behind them and standing in their now silent beautiful town house.
"Silence." Alex sighed, scooping Luna up and pressing her against the wall just to keep her there.
"Tonight was definitely interesting." Luna commented as she played with Alex's hair. He nodded.
"We are friends with interesting people." He agreed, nuzzling his head into her hand.
"I know but Carla and Miles and then did you see Harry and Ingrid talking? And Matt." She sighed at the sound of his name, her voice laced with pity.
"I know." Alex looked down at the floor, it had upset him to hear his best mate wasn't happy.
"It's just terrible." She mumbled. Alex buried his head in her neck and decided to just hold her tightly.
"Unimaginable."
