You've been seeing Colby behind the scenes, where his friends can't see you and get their hopes up. They always get their hopes up when he brings a girl near them to see and hang out with. Only to find out that she's not the one for him under some unfortunate circumstances. They don't sabotage, it's like the girls do it every single time.
Colby is very careful when it comes to avoiding the fans with who he's dating. He's done it many times before you, and none of the fans had caught on. He plays a good role, pretending to be single and all. Everyone will still make the same jokes about him being single and lonely forever, and it'll carry on to the others.
However the girls will seem completely happy in the relationship with Colby. They'll be like two peas in a pod, no fighting, getting along with friends and all. And then the next time that they're around each other, it's no longer that same case. His friends have told him that he just found a bad apple, but it takes one to ruin the whole bunch.
Maybe he's unconsciously doing it to himself every single time. He'll think that the break up is coming, distance himself to make it hit less. So he's not as attached, but it comes off like he doesn't care about them, and then it ruins it. But it can't be him every single time, the first couple of times it couldn't have been because he wasn't talking much.
"Do you think I'm distancing myself?" Colby asks.
"Not at all," you chirp, holding his hand tighter, "I won't let you anyway, nothing to worry about."
That's a relief.
He's introducing you to his friends now because you two have been dating for a little while. You've shown loyalty, and like you have no other plans. You're not going to use him and then leave—maybe that's what the others had done—you're going to stay until the very end of it. And that's because you have good faith on what's to happen in the future.
Partially because of the fact that you can do it yourself. Predicting the future, but it's a little less than that. You call it a generalization of what might happen, since fate is always changing, and there's never a time when it's set in stone until it's later. You've made a couple of mistakes when it comes to that. Planning for something that won't happen at all.
But if you play your cards right—ha ha—you and Colby will be together for a very long time. You haven't told Colby this just yet, because you're a little afraid of scaring him off. He might not be entirely ready for a committed relationship, but you are. It's not like you're lying to him, if he knows that you two will be together for a while, even married in a couple of years, then he'll feel like he needs to keep exploring.
You could tell him that you're going to be the love of his life, as you could tell any other guy. And they'll all worry the same, like if they commit too early, then they're not living their life how it's supposed to be. He'll feel like he needs to keep exploring, seeing other people and do more crazy shit.
You don't tell him this, you get to keep a boyfriend and maybe stop having to worry about being alone for a while. You spent your entire night last night, shuffling the tarot cards and muttering to yourself. It's like meeting his parents, friends can be very important to him.
Which means that they have a bigger opinion over you. You've known Colby for almost five months now—a very long time to go without meeting his friends—but they've known him longer. Not that you'd want to have that type of power, but you wouldn't be able to really put up a fight. It would all be Colby, he'd have to make the decision to keep you over his protests of his friends.
You know that the person that matters the absolute most is Sam. His first best friend, and the one that will be looking out for him the most. If he doesn't like you or catch anything that he would consider a red flag, you're fucked. Depending on how happy Colby is, he might not say anything about it. Bring it up casually as a question or something.
You asked the cards if everything would go okay today, and they said basically. You just need to be considerate of their feelings and not come off too strong. You'll be dubbed as annoying and too loud, which you very well can be, and that's the one thing that can bring you down.
Everything will go just fine.
"Let me go in first, alright?" Colby stops you in front of Sam's door. You've been to Colby's apartment before, so you know next door is Sam. The only reason why he hadn't caught you guys, was cause Colby made you be very quiet and went as far as to hide you in his room or something.
You nod at him a little bit. He decided that pizza night would be the best time to bring you. Meet most of his friends at once, you'll only be missing out on a few who don't mix with each other. You've heard and seen the drama, and you're going to ignore it for the most part because it's really none of your business and you don't want to fall into a rabbit hole.
Switzerland.
"I'll be waiting." You smile at him encouragingly, he presses a quick kiss to your lips before turning to the door. You move off to the side getting out of sight as you listen to the chatter inside.
The door shuts behind him, and you rock on your feet once, before leaning against the wall. Nervousness swells in your stomach, seizing your heart and threatening to spread to your brain. Suggesting that you chicken out of this. You've heard so many nice things about them, and Colby has reassured you that they'd love you, multiple times.
It's only a couple seconds more before the door opens a little bit and Colby steps out, "Ready?"
"I'm scared," you laugh, taking his hand as he pulls you inside of the apartment.
You have an audience, everyone was waiting for you to walk in. You can feel your body heating up already. You give a big smile, trying to seem as welcoming as possible.
You recognize all the faces. Katrina is by the counter with Sam and Jake. Tara is on the couch next to Reggie and Cassie. Mike, Aryia, and Kevin are on the other couch, Devyn sits by herself, knees pulled to her chest. You're sure that if Devyn and Mike weren't there, then Griffin, Xepher and Corey would take their places.
"This is how I'm dating, (Y/n)," Colby places his hand on your lower back.
There's a moment of silence, and then Jake's the first to burst, "You've been seeing someone behind our backs?"
Colby laughs, and you roll your eyes a little bit, crossing your arms, "I wanted to do it earlier but he was worried."
"Worried about what?" Katrina asks, there's a big smile on her face.
"I'd steal all of you guys from him."
"Oh whatever," Colby shoves you s little bit.
"It's nice to meet you," Devyn says from the couch, "The guys are gonna be awkward because they have no clue what to do."
"Shut the fuck up." Mike tells her, laughing.
"They're always awkward." Tara amutters, "They're guys."
"I'm not," Reggie protests, turning to look at you, "If you need an editor for YouTube, I'm your guy."
"Do you do YouTube?" Sam asks, this is probably where the curiosity will start.
"I do, but I don't think Reggie's editing will be my type," you pull out a stool to sit on, crossing your legs a little bit, Colby stands right next to you, "I'm not really a vlogger."
"You got a gamer?" Aryia asks, mouth dropping open.
"No!" He practically shouts, face flushing, "Jesus fuck, will you give that a rest?"
"What do you do?" Katrina asks kindly, genuine interested.
"I do tarot readings." You tell them.
"You're dating a psychic?" Aryia asks.
"Excuse me for a moment," Colby tells you, before swiftly crossing the room.
Aryia cringes up onto the couch, trying to get away from Colby. But Colby shakes the living hell out of his friend, making every sputte rout a couple of laughs.
Cassie joins in, "You're actually serious?"
You nod, smiling proudly, "Among other things of course. I'm sure the guys will appreciate it when I say I do some spiritual stuff as well."
Heavy quotation marks, being a witch doesn't necessarily mean spiritual. It could entail that, but you're not down that far deep just yet. Little spells that will help you out with day-to-day life, mostly.
"Or witchy." You correct yourself, watching as they light up.
"You don't look the type." Mike tells you, Colby smacks his head on his wya back to you.
"Sorry I don't have a ton of warts and a huge ass nose," you laugh, he joins in.
"Did you bring your cards?" Sam asks.
"Yeah! They're all charged up too," You smile at him, "do you want me to bring them up?"
"Will you?" Reggie also, "I'm curious."
"Sure," you hop off the stool, carefully pushin got back in, "I'll be back."
Colby catches you before you go, handing off his keys and giving you a quick kiss. You're out the door pretty quickly, not wanting to keep them wiTing. But you lag by the door for. A couple of seconds longer only to hear that they're pestering Colby.
A grin comes across your face as you head to the car.
You did it.
