He quickly turned around and brushed the hand off, "You know that I don't like it when people touch me."
Saki smiled, "Nice to see you too."
"Why did you call me here?" Ayato asked.
"That girl. Akiko." Saki said.
Saki paused, "She's Akiara Kuzo, isn't she?"
Ayato didn't respond. He showed no emotion on his face, "I don't know."
"You don't?" Saki said.
He smiled, "Do you think I'll buy that?"
"I don't care if you buy it or not." Ayato said.
"If you called me here just to ask about that, then I'm going." Ayato said.
"Do you know what you're doing?" Saki said, annoyed.
Ayato turned around and looked at Saki.
"If she's really Akiara Kuzo, you can't interfere! Do you want to die?! Don't you know the King is looking for her?" Saki shouted.
"Xieus?" Ayato laughed.
"To me he's no king." Ayato said.
"I don't get it. He's your brother!" Saki said.
"HE'S NO BROTHER OF MINE!" Ayato shouted.
His eyes were full of rage.
"You had a choice. The place as king, it could have been yours. But you gave it up and chose this path and became the head of reapers." Saki said.
"I don't have to explain anything to you." Ayato said.
"Akiko is dead, Ayato. You'll have to collect her soul eventually. Why are you even protecting her now?" Saki said.
"I made a promise. 100 days. So before 100 days, I won't let anything happen to her. I keep my word." Ayato said.
"Is it really that simple?" Saki asked.
Ayato looked at Saki, "I'm leaving."
Before Saki could say another word, Ayato had already left.
Ayato thought of what Saki had said, "Is it really that simple."
Ayato laughed, "Of course it's not."
Ayato gritted his teeth, "I want Xieus to pay. I'll make him pay for what he did."
The next day,
Akiko was walking to her class. She didn't sleep well the previous day and had dark circles around her eyes and eye bags under her eyes.
She had been thinking about what Ayato said the whole night.
Just as she was walking down the hallway, she noticed a group of girls circling around someone.
She found it weird but shrugged it off as she thought it was normal. They were probably gossiping if not fangirling over some boy again.
She ignored them and walked pass them.
Just then, she heard one of the girl say the word, "Ayato."
She froze but laughed it off, "What's the possibility? It's probably another Ayato."
Akiko quickly rushed to her class.
She walked to her table and realised that Shiro's seat was empty.
"Is he...sick today?" Akiko wondered.
Akiko shook her head, "That's none of my business anymore."
Soon, the teacher came into the classroom, followed by a tall boy.
"Class, today we have a new student." He said.
Akiko's eyes widened at the sight.
"Ayato Otayu." He said.
Ayato smirked and looked at Akiko.
The class erupted in whispers.
"Shiro's not coming to class today. You may take a seat in front of Akiko. She's the one at the seating at the back, second last row." The teacher said.
Ayato nodded his head and walked towards his seat. He gave Akiko a grin before seating down.
Akiko couldn't focus at all during the lesson as small pieces of crumbled paper kept flying onto Ayato's table from other girl's tables.
She looked around the class and realised a few girls staring at Ayato.
Ayato opened a piece of paper before closing it, looking uninterested.
After class, Akiko quickly rushed out of class.
Ayato was about to go after her but was held back by a group of girls.
"Ayato right? Do you need me to show you around school?" One said.
"Did you receive my paper? It had my number on it!"
Another one said.
"Are you free after school? I know a cool ramen store that just opened nearby."
Ayato was getting annoyed.
"Leave me alone !" He shouted before rushing out of the class.
Akiko was down in the hallway getting some books from her locker.
Suddenly a hand came from behind and pulled her into the store room nearby.
"Mhrmm!" Akiko tried to scream but her mouth was covered by the hand.
Akiko turned around and realised it was Ayato.
Ayato let go of his hand and stepped back. He folded his arms.
"What are you doing?!" Akiko said.
"You'll need my protection." Ayato said.
"From?" Akiko asked.
Ayato shook his head, "You just need it."
"But this is ridiculous! You're in my class! Do you even know what we're studying?" Akiko asked.
"You don't have to worry about that. Be grateful. I'm here because I'm helping you. You think that I want to be here? Those girls are retarded and the guys here are just idiots." Ayato said.
Akiko sighed, "Fine. But don't interrupt my studies, you hear?"
Ayato raised his hands up in surrender.
"I'm going out." Akiko said.
"Wait." Ayato said.
He suddenly squatted and grabbed Akiko's hand to pulled her down to the floor with him so that they wouldn't be visible through the window of the door.
"What are you-" Ayato said.
Ayato quickly covered her mouth with her hand and put a finger in his lip with the other.
They heard footsteps outside the door.
"Where do you think he went?" They heard voices outside the door.
"Let's continue finding him!" The heard another voice.
"Girls! Let's split!"
When the voices slowly faded away, Ayato heaved a sigh of relief.
"Pfttttt" Akiko covered her mouth, trying not to laugh.
"What?" Ayato glared at Akiko.
"So you were hiding from them." Akiko said.
She burst out laughing.
"Like I said, those girls are retarded." Ayato rolled his eyes.
Akiko gasped, "What time is it?"
"Why?" Ayato asked.
"I'M LATE FOR CLASS!!!!!!!" Akiko shouted.
She quickly opened the door and rushed out.
Ayato shook his head, "Idiot."
