"Vena, we are leaving in ten minutes" I hear James yell to me.
"Okay!" I yell back, shutting my laptop shut.
I really don't get how he thinks this is his apartment, I mean I guess it is somewhat his too, but not really. He has only lived here for like 8 hours and he acts like he has lived here for as long as I have which he hasn't but he sure acts like it.
I pick my laptop up off the bed and set it on my desk. I didn't really want to go out for lunch with James, but I didn't want to say no because I really didn't feel like starting a roommates war, because I knew that those could get pretty hectic according to Sage.
Sage says that having a roommate is utter hell because if you do something or don't do something that one room mate dosen't like then that could start a war and according to Sage a war has already been started between her room mate and herself. Her telling me this made me not want a room mate that much more and now that I have one it makes me very conscious to things I say or do around James.
Sage is one of my friends who I went to high school with just a few months ago. She and I did not plan on going to the same college together, I mean we are friends but we are not close friends like my best friend, Grayson.
I hadn't known she was going to the same college that I was until only two days ago when we bumped into each other at the coffee shop. Sage and I sat down together for a few minutes to catch up a bit. I hope that we can become better friends this year.
I hear a knock on my door.
"Come in" I say.
I see as a tall muscular figure walks through the door, " Are you ready" James asks.
"Yeah, how long do you think we will be?" I ask.
"Why? You got a place to be" He says, his eyes wonder my room.
"No, it's just that-" I start.
"Is this a Mac" He asks pointing to my laptop. I nod. He walks over to it and picks it up. I swear to god I will kill him with my bare hands if he drops it.
"You act like you have never seen one in your whole lifetime" I say.
"Oh, I have. I have one in my room. I just haven't seen one in such good condition" He says stunned, " How long have you had this one?" He asks me like I have owned more than one.
"Two years" I answer.
"Wow, this is in good condition, I mean you must use it alot because the letters on the key board are starting to disappear" He says.
"Yeah, well I write alot" I say, I take a minute to process what I just say. Did I just let out my biggest secret? Oh shit, I did.
"You write, like stories?" He asks. I hesitantly nod.
"Cool" He replies.
I don't like telling people about how I write because then they will try to get me published, don't get me wrong; being published would be awesome, but the idea of people knowing it's me writing stories freaks me out. I write all my thoughts and emotions in those stories, if anyone read those stories and knew it was me, I would probably have an emotional breakdown.
I write all my stories on a Word Document and keep it locked so that if anyone gets a hold of my laptop they can't access my work.
He sets my laptop back on my desk, carefully. Thank the gods.
"Okay, well now that you have examined my computer; can we go now?" I say.
"Sure thing" He walks out of my room, I follow him out and shut my door behind me.
He heads to the front door and slides on his blue Vans shoes and brown leather jacket, he runs his hand through his short brown hair, and some how it goes back to the original way it was before he ran his hand through it. For some reason I found him doing that really attractive, that is wrong. I shake that thought out of my head.
I slide on my sandals and put on my cardigan,
I walk out the door and James shuts in behind us and locks it.
We walk down the hallway in an awkward silence and down the stairs to James's beautiful car.
We walk out to the large parking lot and James look at me, "Don't hit the other car with your door" He says.
"Okay" I mumble.
We walk to the car and I am very careful not to the hit the car beside me. He gets in as well, I look around his car just like I had the other day. It is clean car for a 19 year old year guy. The leather is in excellent shake for a five year old car, he must treat this car is his child.
James puts the key in the ignition and the engine roars. He puts it in reverse and backs up then we puts it in neutral then goes forward.
"So, where are we going to eat?" I ask.
"I was gonna leave that up to you" He says not taking his eyes off the road.
"That is so not going to happen. You wanted to go out to lunch so it is your decision" My rant gets cut off by James's voice.
"Vena, I was justing kidding. I know exactly where we are going for lunch. I was just testing you to see if you were the type of person who would want to choose what they want under the influence of another person and now I know that you don't like being under pressure" He says glancing at me.
"Yeah" I mumble.
I wasn't gonna deny it because that would be a lie. I can't stand being under pressure, When I was it high school we had to present so many projects you wouldn't believe it. I try to keep myself out of as many self pressuring moments as I can or avoid them completely.
"So, are you going to tell me where we are eating?" I ask.
"I don't have to, were already here" He says turning into a parking lot.
I look at the front of the building as we pass it and it says "cafe" In fancy lettering.
Wow, they really used a unique name.
Sarcasm, and lots of it too.
James gets out and shuts his behind him. I get out and carefully shut the door, not wanting it to slam. James and I walk up to the building together with a fair distance between us.
He walks up to door and holds it open for me, I walk in and he walks in behind me, he steps around me and steps up to the desk.
"Hi, sir. Table for two?" The waitress asks.
"Yes, thank you" James answers.
She nods and leads us to a table in the far corner by the window. James takes off his coat reveling his tight fitting blue tee shirt the he must have put on before we left. I sit in the chair and seconds later he sits in the across from me.
"I will be back in a few minutes to take your order" the waitress says as she sets the menus on the table in front of both of us.
We both nod and then she leaves.
We sit there in silence for a few minutes while we decide what we are going to eat. I glance over my menu to see if James has finished deciding and he had because he was staring at like there was something wrong with mty face.
"What?" I ask.
"I didn't say anything" He says smiling at me.
"No, you are just staring at me for some weird reason" I say.
"Oh, I was seeing for long it would take for you to be uncomfortable", He looks at his watch and pretends to be keeping tack of the time, "And, it took exactly 6 minutes or you to realize" He says smiling at me.
He was watching me for the last six minutes? That is very creepy.
Sometimes I wonder if that grin ever leaves his face, I wouldn't be surprised if it was permanently plastered on there.
The waitress comes around the corner with an pencil and piece of paper.
"May I take your order?" she asks.
"Yes, I will have a black coffee and your ham and cheese sandwich" He says and looks up at the lady, "Thank you" He eyes her.
I roll my eyes, his flirting skills are rather, whats the word...Disturbingly good. I mean that smile could win over all the girls in this restaurant, but not me. I'm not gonna fall for that "Your beautiful" and "Your as bright as the Milky Way" bullshit. It's stupid, you can't just win over a girl by some sweet words, but it is pretty unbelievable how girls do. Stupid girls, I hope one day they will wake up and realize that this is not a fairy tale and guys are just stupid assholes, but I don't think they will until their heart is broken by a boy, and mine has so i'm allowed to think this stuff.
"And for you miss?" The lady asks.
"Can I get a green tea and a Caesar salad' I ask.
"You sure can" She says in a childish tone, "Is that all for you?" she asks in her regular voice.
"Yeah, That's it' James says.
She nods and walks away.
"Bitch" I mutter under my breath, but just loud enough for James to hear me.
"Hey, what did she ever do to you?" James asks leaning on the back of his chair.
"Oh, don't act like you don't know. You know exactly what she did and just because you want to get in her pants dosen't mean-" I get cut off.
He sits up and puts his hands on the table, "Whoa, whoa. I do not want to get in her pants, where did you get that idea?" He asks.
"I got the idea from you flirting with her and so did she" I say.
"I think someone is jealous" He says like it is his final words.
"I think not. I have only known you for a day and I have not once thought of you romantically in this entire time period of me knowing you" I say.
"Oh, but you will. I pretty much guarantee that" He relaxes in his chair.
"I doubt that highly" I say confidently.
