Posy

I'm crying, and I don't even know why. Well, I know why, but I don't know why I'm sad.

Leaving this house should be a good thing, it is a good thing, but me and my emotional self aren't having it. I pack everything I'll need, trying to see it all from critical eyes. Only necessities. That's all I need. Nothing more, nothing less.

After I zip my bag, I look around my room.

This place doesn't hold happy memories. Maybe a few from before the war, and many more after Torint showed up, but that's it. My mate and I will make lots of new memories, memories far far away from here. At least that's what he assures me, but I'm still a bit unsure. Space? Spaceships? It's a lot to take in.

It's kind of scary leaving behind everything you know. But I'm also hopeful, so that helps, sort of.

I close my door for the last time, heading down the stairs to my new life. The handle to my suitcase is slick and sweaty in my warm grip. When I spot Torint, I feel a little bit better.

We've both been a little bit on edge, for different reasons. Helping those girls has made me sad. Seeing and hearing what they went through is absolutely heart wrenching. The older of the two, Jane, is the one who told us about what was done to them.

It's exactly what I feared.

The smaller, younger girl, Penelope, won't speak. Jane says she was there when she got there. She said she doesn't know how long Penelope was imprisoned. No one really knows anything about Penelope. She doesn't speak.

And the poor thing won't be separated from Elik. The terrifying leader of the alien pack has become protective of the girl. Torint believes she feels safe around him since he was the one to rescue her.

Either way, it's sweet to watch him take care of her. The brute is gentle and kind towards her.

The third girl was dead when they found her. They buried her before they returned to the house. Thankfully, I didn't have to witness that. I don't know how I would be able to cope with seeing something like that. It would haunt me forever, that poor girl.

"There you are, my Posy." Torint says, coming towards me with a warm smile as he pulls me to his side. I gladly mold my body to his. A grumble sounds from his throat.

"You are trembling. What is wrong, my sweet mate?" He asks gently, a twinge of worry in his deep voice. I look up at him with a little bit of guilt, shrugging my shoulders.

"I'm a little nervous." I admit. He squints down at me in confusion.

"Why?" He questions me, petting my hair softly to try and calm me down. It works well enough.

"Well, it's all unknown to me, you know what I mean?" I look away, a little bit embarrassed now that I'm saying it out loud. "Don't get me wrong, I'm excited.
Ecstatic, really. It's just a lot to take in. I'll never see earth again."

Compassion flares in Torint's gaze. He embraces me, hugging me tightly to his broad chest. I relax. Sometimes I forget how big the guy is, I'm basically a child compared to him.

"Everything will be alright, Posy. I will always protect you, love you. You are mine." I sigh in contentment at his reassurance.

He's the love of my life.

Eventually we have everything we need, and we're heading off on our grand adventure. I carry my bag, and Torint carries Weasley. What can I say? The cat really loves the big alien man who crashed into our lives. I can't say that I disagree with him.

When we reach the rumbling ships in the forest, I can't help but stare. The things are absolutely massive. Wind courses around us from their titanic sized engines. The larger than life aliens usher us onto the ship with hurried words.

I stand between Torint and Yatik, Elik close behind us with Penelope tightly under his arm.

The ship has a lot of other Rytarians on board, and they're not so different from the others I've already encountered. They openly stare at me and Penelope with wide eyes, and not so secret whispers. At first, all the staring unnerved me, but not that I know why, I'm not so bothered by it.

They just can't believe we're real. It's understandable.

My mate leads me to our room, a gruff sound releasing from his throat. He doesn't like them looking at me. I hold back a smile.

Sometimes Torint can be overbearing, but I don't really mind. I never thought I'd have the opportunity to have a significant other, and he thought females were extinct. We look over each other's flaws because our relationship is a miracle to begin with. I don't think I'll ever take my big, alien man for granted.

We drop our things in our room. It's a spacious cabin with a huge bed. The decor isn't much. No colors or patterns, just dark colors. Weasley makes himself comfortable as soon as his paws touch the floor. The feline curls up on the end of the bed with a content purr.

Before I can relax and settle in, Torint grabs my hand and drags me out again, the sliding door closing behind us.

"Where are we going?" I ask him, trying to keep up with him. He loses patience with me trailing behind, so he lifts me up into his arms bridal style. My head spins.

"To the healer. You need to have a check up." He insists. I roll my eyes while I wrap my arms around his thick neck.

"Torint, I'm fine, I don't need a doctor." I try to tell the big brute, but he shakes his head. His dangerous, mint green gaze latches onto my wrapped wrist.

He always looks at the injury like he despises it.

"It's nothing, really! I've been super careful with it." I try to convince him, but he won't budge. I suck on the inside of my cheek while he strolls down the hallway with purpose, determined to get me all fixed up.

Torint refuses to leave me alone with the doctor. The whole time that the poor guy is trying to do his job, my mate bullies him and bosses him around.

He growls when the doctor asks if we've been sexually active, and he growls even more when he takes a sample of my blood.

I wince when he sticks the needle in me. I try my hardest not to think about that evil man stealing my blood for his own sick and twisted ideas a few days prior. The awful memories won't leave me alone.

The doctor can't stop staring at me, something I'm used to now, but he's doing his best to concentrate on his work regardless. He enters my blood into his database.

After reading the results that pop up on the screen, his face pales.

"What is it? What's wrong?" Torint demands, as the doctor runs off to another computer across the room. He doesn't answer, just jots down something on his clipboard. He's acting frantic.

Worry prickles down my spine. Is something wrong? What did he read on my blood work?

Torint rushes across the room and grabs him by his shoulders, a roar freeing itself from his throat. He doesn't play around.

"You will use the healing scanner on my mate's broken bone, and you will do it now!" He tells the smaller male, shaking him. The poor thing gulps, shaking his head in denial.

"I can't." He informs Torint.

My mate doesn't like that reply very much.

"That's what we came here for, the scanner is right there. What is the issue?" My alien presses, intimidating the doctor to get the information.

Part of me wants to get up and tell Torint to stop, but the other part is terrified motionless. What if something terrible is happening? What if I don't make it? Torint would be devastated, and so would Weasley.

I thought our new life would start off without a hitch. It seems I was wrong, and naive.

"I do not know if it will hurt the kit or not." I'm a little numb when I hear those few magical words.

Torint stumbles back, his breath catching in his throat. He looks back at me with an amazed look in his eyes.

My body is frozen when he lumbers towards me with a determined air about him. Before I know it, I'm wrapped up in his strong arms once again.

"A kit. We are going to have a kit." There are many things I'm already worried about after hearing that news. Torint is 7 feet tall, his child is going to be enormous. They're probably going to have to cut the baby right out of me.

And another thing, how long is this pregnancy going to be? Will I be nauseous? Do they have pacifiers? Diapers? What about health insurance?

I shove all the questions away for now. Because right now, right now is the time to celebrate. With the idea of Torint and I starting our own family, I couldn't be happier.

I'm so sorry this took forever! I have been busy with work and traveling, but I'm back now and writing again. I've also just had a hard time keeping motivated and inspired with writing. It's not easy. Sometimes I get burnt out, because I'm human.

Hope this made up for it! ❤️ I'll have another chapter out as soon as I can.
