I watch as my little sister plays with my hair. Her face looking paler and paler by the second. I know that she's not old enough to understand what cancer is, or even what might happen to her in the next few years, but what the saddest part is that I can't do anything about it. I just watch her braid my thick black hair, her own hair fair and thin. Her eyes are like big blue diamonds that just stare back at me in concern. She knows i'm upset.
"I love you," she says. Her eyes looking down at her fingers brushing through my braids, "I love you sososososoSO much."
"I love you more, booger." I smile and tickle her sides. She falls back onto the bed and she flails her arms, laughing loudly.
She giggles and laughs and snorts occasionally. I let my arms fall to my sides and fall back onto my bed, I can't breathe for a second and sit down.
That was the last normal day of my life.
