Third p. o. v

To be safe, the Breath users of Snow and Water went on a patrol to search through the whole town and the surrounding areas for any more demons. The two demon slayers jumped from roof to roof as the streets were filled with the unmoving bodies, countless policemen, and people that were left grieving to their loved ones lost.

The sight unfazed the two swordsmen. They have seen this exact scenario numerous times and even having to experience it twice or more themselves. This only fuelled their resolve stronger.

With only a few extra demons loitering around, Mashiro and Giyū were certain that they were able to decapitate them all. Now deciding to return back to this world's Kagaya and announce of this dimension as safe.

Once they have returned, they did what they decided to do. Kagaya trusted them and told everyone that it was safe although everyone was still skeptical. In the end, it was agreed for everyone to go home in groups rather than alone.

A few individuals looked back before leaving: One with burgundy hair and a scar on his forehead, one with peach hair and a scar from the right corner of his lip to his ear, and one with midnight hair and aqua eyes. These three glanced at the two swordsmen with curiosity before going home.

Remaining was 6 students part of the student council and 2 teachers. Their names were: Uzui Tengen and Himejima Gyomei who were the teachers, Kanroji Mitsuri (Third Year), Iguro Obanai (Third Year), Shinazugawa Sanemi (Third Year), Tokito Muichiro (Second Year), Kocho Shinobu (Third Year), and Rengoku Kyojuro (Third Year). And of course, Kagaya stayed behind with his two daughters to help him.

After everyone apart from these people were gone, only then Kagaya spoke to the two Hashiras kneeled on the floor before him,

"We thank you so much for saving our world. We cannot express our gratitude enough." Kagaya bowed deeply to the two followed by his daughters then the two teachers and the student council.

"There's no need for a bow, Oyakata-sama. What we done today was our job and our choice to do so." Mashiro began.

"To slay demons and save humans is what our organisation does. We do not desire anything in return. Our only goal is to kill the original demon." Giyū continued.

"I see... How will you two get home?" Kagaya asked.

"We will just wait for us to be transported although the time zones are different. It will also take a while for the other side to bring us back as a lot of energy was used just to transport us to this world." Mashiro answered.

"I can offer you a place to stay as you wait for your transportation. You do not mind right?" Kagaya smiled.

"We do not want to be a bother..." Giyū started, wearing a blank look, "We can survive outside without the need of a roof above our heads. We are used to living outside in the forest."

"Ehh? I couldn't imagine living in the forest..." Mitsuri spoke up.

"Our time is during the Taisho Period." Mashiro told her, "The two of us are survivors. We have experience of having to live with what little we have." Everyone paused.

"We do not want to be a burden, Oyakata-sama. We are fine staying outside." Giyū told him, reassuring him that they all didn't need to be associated with the two swordsmen any longer.

"You're no burden. You two are very much the Mashiro and Giyū we know of this world. How can you guarantee that you will be a burden to us when you are not us?" Kagaya smiled.

"Very well..." Giyū replied, "We will take up your offer..."

"We should take our leave then..." Kagaya turned to the two teachers and the student council, "You should go home. There are people waiting for you back home. Don't forget to walk home in groups."

The group obeyed before eyeing the two other selves of their Mashiro and Giyū. After that, Kagaya told his daughters to lead them outside where a large car was always waiting with a personal driver.

It felt only slightly weird to ride a car where humans in this dimension were more advanced with their technology and knowledge of the world. But it didn't feel as different from riding a train in the big cities in their own universe.

Once arriving, Mashiro and Giyū stared at the mansion the Kagaya in this world was living. It was bigger than most of the houses the two have seen in that world so far.

Kagaya gestured for the two to follow him and his daughters inside. Whilst they were led in, Mashiro began a small conversation with Giyū,

"It would take at least two weeks..." She stated. Giyū nodded, not bothered of having to stay in an unfamiliar world filled with their friends' and families' other selves.

"As long as we do what our world's Oyakata-sama says, then we'll be fine..."

"It scares me..."

Giyū stayed silent as he took a quick glance at his partner.

"How easy it is to act familiar with them again.."

Whispers echoed the school hallways a week later as the owners of those voices stared at two individuals. The two only looked forward until they reached 'their' classroom. They sat together far back in the room as their classmates only stared at them as they could tell that they weren't their world's Mashiro and Giyū.

In truth, the two swordsmen did not desire to continue school lives for their other selves but they couldn't refuse an order from their master. They also had to wear the school uniform but they were allowed to keep their haori on. Their swords were covered up and tied to their back whilst their demon slayer uniform was inside their bag along with other necessities for school which belonged to this universe's Mashiro and Giyū.

Then a grinning butterfly strolled over to them,

"Good morning, Mashiro-chan! Tomioka-san!" Shinobu smiled as she sat down at the other seat of Mashiro, "How are you two doing?"

"We're fine..." Mashiro whispered under her fox mask. She longed to hug Shinobu again, to chat with her about everything happening in their lives but the only difference was-

She wasn't her Shinobu. She wasn't the same Shinobu who cried for Mashiro when she couldn't. This Shinobu didn't know her troubles...

Shinobu blinked as Kyojuro came over along with Sanemi, Obanai, and Mitsuri. Kyojuro greeted the three seated down with a bright smile,

"Good morning you three!" He said staring at the two swordsmen but concentrated more on Mashiro out of the two as he sat in front of Mashiro's seat.

"Good morning~!" Mitsuri sang as she sat in front of Shinobu and her boyfriend, Obanai sitting in front of her seat whilst huffing a quiet 'Good morning' too. Not wanting to chat with the two demon slayers even if he was too interested himself.

Sanemi observed the Snow Hashira and the Water Hashira with a glare. Sure he was thankful that they made sure that this world was safe from their worlds' demons but he couldn't help but act colder as they were unfamiliar people who were another version of the actual people he spent time with in school. Out of everyone that had to be swapped, it had to be the two of the most anti-social students in the school- not to mention, even their other selves' were anti-social so this couldn't ease Sanemi's cautiousness much.

Only giving them an acknowledged glance, he sat down in the seat in front of Giyū which was also next to Kyojuro who was staring at Mashiro in a daze with his elbow on top of the back of his seat and resting his chin on his palm- a gleaming wonder in his sunset eyes. Shinobu smirked at that and Mitsuri giggled as they knew of Kyojuro's obvious crush on Mashiro even if she wasn't their Mashiro.

Kyojuro loved Mashiro so much that even her other selves from any time or dimension he was sure that he would always fall in love with her, no matter of her past, her personality, her looks- it didn't matter to him; Never as he always has said to her:

"You will always be the one for me and I for you. Not even fate nor destiny can change that."

The two strangers of the modern world thought that school was pretty easy- just take notes, understand it, then apply it. It was easy for them compared to training with Urokodaki. But the notes they wrote down wasn't for themselves it was for the Mashiro and Giyū of this world to catch up. So understanding it and applying it was useless, they only did the first step.

During the morning lessons, Mashiro and Giyū felt stares from all directions. Students and teachers couldn't stop their curious gaze. Their outfit was interesting and looked cool, and the sword they kept to their backs was peculiar and too eye-catching. It was a dangerous weapon brought to school yet the principle allowed them to carry it with them wherever they go.

It wasn't only their stares, it was also Kyojuro, Shinobu and Sanemi studying their actions and behaviours the most. Although there were other two who gazed worriedly instead- their names were Sabito and Makomo.

In this world, Sabito, Makomo, Mashiro and Giyū were childhood friends. They knew everything in each other's lives like the back of their hand. The four was always looking out for each other and supporting them. Their bonds with each other were definitely more than just childhood friends or best friends- they were the closest family each of them had. So to see another Mashiro and Giyū ignoring them back at the assembly was worrying for them. They thought their other selves in their time was the complete opposite of their personality.

It wasn't only them too, even Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke and Nezuko had a keen eye on the two Breath users. They were sure that they weren't as close like the third years but they sure were the most closest underclassmen the two were familiar with.

Even though they were not the closest, they still had courage to approach the two- even more than people closest to them...

It was lunchtime now. Mashiro and Giyū were sat at a random table where the two did not eat but close their eyes and rest. Giyū sitting up with his arms crossed looking stoic whilst Mashiro rested her arms on the table, her head laid down facing sideways.

Every student avoided their table- it was too tense and unfamiliar. They also had swords on their backs so who knows what would happen if they wanted to use it. But they couldn't go up against the two, not when they were grateful for them saving many lives. The least they thought they could do was avoid getting in their way- even without doing nothing, the two felt too superior from them.

But a few people weren't okay with that. Only a few students, just random, approached them and clearly did not know why these particular two was so scary to everyone. It just so happened that the day the demons invaded was the day they decided to skip school and stay home, so it was obvious they haven't heard the news.

"Let me just say- Who are you two to be scaring the students around here? Your creepy clothes and 'so scary' weapons on your backs is just too childish. It's annoying and disturbing to everyone so I demand for you two to take it off right now!" One of them snarled as two others laughed along with them.

The two swordsmen didn't move an inch nor responded in any way towards them- they just wanted peacefulness.

The students were ticked off that they were ignored and so came close to the two. The one leading reaching out to take Mashiro's fox mask, "Answer me! You're cosplaying isn't acceptable to the school!"

Students in the cafeteria were silent, staring at the group. The random students were the troublemakers of the school- students that made the school look bad and to hear them saying that their behaviour to students was unacceptable was laughable. But everyone stayed silent to see what the demon slayers would do about the situation whilst others like Kyojuro, Shinobu, Tanjiro, and Sabito were ready to jump in when needed.

That was until a faint mist began appearing behind the student reaching out to snatch Mashiro's mask...

They continued to provoke, "Are you embarrassed about your face or something cause it's ugly?" They laughed.

Before their hand could touch Mashiro, the snow haired female grabbed their hand while her other hand gripped for her sword, unwrapping it as she threw them away, swinging her sword where they once were standing, slicing a demon who got through the mist. But the demon dodged as her swing was too slow for it even though it was faster than anyone could see. Giyū already began to tell everyone to leave as they faced a very powerful demon-

Akaza.

Upper Moon Three.

What is he doing here? The two thought.

Mashiro frowned behind her mask, We have to send him back while that mist is still here...

"I'll give him a kick..." Mashiro murmured under her breath as she stabbed Akaza's foot into the floor whilst Giyū distracted him with Mashiro activating her scarlet red eyes and used her boosted abilities to kick and head-butt him to the other side while he was still crossing over the mist.

Akaza hissed, "It's you again... Even though you are a girl, you do pack a punch last time..." He said, sending a blood demon technique as he was forced to disappear back into the mist before he disappeared.

The blood demon technique was meant to hurt as much people in the area possible but Mashiro picked up her sword as she and Giyū did their best to deflect as much.

Only a few average damages were done to the cafeteria and thankfully, no one was hurt except for the two swordsmen who only received minor injuries such as punches and kicks from Akaza. Even though it was brief, they broke out a lot of sweat, although not panting as much to focus on their breathing and using it to ease the pain inflicted on them.

It was only then noticed by Mashiro that her mask broke. She glanced down to see her fox mask broken to three pieces. She calmed down, closing her eyes as she knew that Giyū was staring at her in concern. She noticed that majority of the students were still inside the cafeteria even though Giyū shouted at them earlier to leave for safety. They were only lucky to escape Akaza like this by the transporting mist, but it still annoyed Mashiro greatly by the lack of obedience people had towards their own safety, treating the situation as if it were some magic show.

Giyū rested a hand on her shoulder as she nodded, knowing what he wanted to say and calmed down even though her face didn't show any anger.

Mashiro only sighed, "We're only lucky to get away like this... If anything, we need to go and kill the source of the demons' transport..."

"You know we'll have to wait... Let's put trust in the people back home. For now, we have to guard this world from any demons..." Giyū gave her a soft gaze to her sun eyes.

Mashiro blinked with a poker face as she turned to the crowd of students, "If anyone tells you to run away, you run away. A situation like this isn't for entertainment when you could all potentially lose your lives..."

Giyū continued, "We hope you all will comply to those instructions next time..." He gazed at everyone coldly, "You won't like living in a life where you'll eat your friends and family to live..."

The two picked up their bags and wrapped up their swords. Then they walked out, passing by their friends who stared at the two in disbelief.

Before the two could completely pass by their friends, Mashiro and Kyojuro made eye contact. He blushed at the interaction but received the silent message Mashiro was giving him-
