2023 ― London, England
"I actually like it better broken."
Amaya watched as Peter grabbed a glowing object from inside of one of the drones that were on the ground, and then he grabbed the Tower Bridge sign, and she had no idea what he was trying to do. And then she realized he was holding part of the drone at his side, and then the tower bridge sign as a makeshift shield and she raised an eyebrow.
"You trying to be Uncle Thor and my dad rolled into one?" Amaya asked and Peter shook his head.
"I'll dodge, you take them out," Peter said. Amaya nodded her head as the two of them ran at the drones, which were still programmed to kill them, and the drones started to fire at them. As Peter threw the part of a broken drone he was holding into the air, the other drones all shot at it, and Amaya kept shooting into them with her powers going straight to their circuits and automatically shutting them down.
It caused a loud explosion as it went over the top of the sound wave, and Amaya and Peter took the explosion as their distraction to go through the sound wave and make their way up to Beck who was on a different part of the bridge. Peter came down through the top of the bridge and punched Beck directly in his glass helmet, which shut down the drones, and Amaya stood on the ground as Peter was holding him.
"Your lies are over, Beck," Amaya said.
"This certainly isn't ideal, but I have contingencies. EDITH." He said and then a powerful blast sent Amaya and Peter both flying back to the other side of the bridge, as the two kids started to cough. Amaya and Peter both picked themselves off the ground, getting out the last of their coughs before they looked at Beck.
"Just give us the glasses," Peter said.
Beck reached into his non-Mysterio outfit and pulled out the glasses. "You two want these? Come and get them." He said as six drones lined up on the side of him to protect him. Three on each side. Amaya and Peter both looked at each other and nodded their heads. But then more drones started to come in, and then the tower faded.
Beck was taking them into another illusion.
They were surrounded by green mist and it was completely dark, and both kids took a deep breath. "Come on, Peter tingle," Peter said to himself, while Amaya was trying to search for Beck's mind, and see if she could use that to mentally place where he actually was, but instead of placing him, she could feel something better. She could pick up on the currency of the drones.
Both Amaya and Peter struck at the same time, Peter doing a flip and breaking a drone with his foot, while Amaya shorted one out with her powers. Amaya envisioned the bridge they were standing on, which helped her keep her footing as she and Peter continued to take out the drones that were flying and shooting at them. An explosion went off which sent Amaya down, but then she saw Peter break off a part of a drone and she picked that piece up.
She used the broken piece and stabbed it through another drone, automatically destroying it, and with one hand she used her powers to destroy the drones, and with the other hand, she used the drone piece to stab right through them. After she and Peter both broke another drone, the illusion dropped and they were back on the bridge, with Beck in front of them and he looked worried.
"Why aren't these drones firing?" He asked EDITH. Amaya and Peter didn't pay attention to a response, their only focus was getting those glasses back. But Amaya did hear Beck yell to fire all of the drones, and they did. They were shooting at the young couple like rapid-fire, but Peter was able to dodge and weave while taking them down, and Amaya was able to slow down their shots and hold them off before making them explode in mid-air. Amaya redirected a drone at Beck and it shot him in the abdomen before she moved low to take out another drone that was coming at Peter while he punched through another drone.
Both of their suits were slightly ripped, they were covered in soot and they were exhausted, but they were strong. "Beck!" Peter yelled while taking off his mask, and Amaya untied her bandana as they saw Beck laying on the ground and it looked like he was dying, which was good. Amaya didn't care, she knew Peter might still care though. She already trusted Beck once and he betrayed that. Amaya was just like her mother in the sense of once you've betrayed her trust.
There's no getting it back.
"Beck. You lied to us. And we trusted you." Peter said to him, as they both stood over him.
"I know," Beck said looking up at them. "That's the most... d...-disappointing part. You're both good people, Peter, Amaya. Such a weakness." He said, and then he reached down and took out the glasses before holding them out to the kids. "Stark was right. You both deserve them." Beck said, but Amaya could feel that something was wrong.
"Underoos on your...-" She was cut off by the gunshot, but Peter's hand was already in the air. As the illusion faded, it showed that Beck was really standing beside Peter, and he had a gun pointed at his head. Amaya could feel that Beck was tricking them, and she let out a breath of relief when Peter squeezed his wrist and made him drop the gun. "...-left." She finished her thought.
"You can't trick us anymore," Peter said to him in a more firm tone. Amaya immediately snatched the glasses off of his face and put them on her own.
"EDITH, turn off the drones." She said.
"Biometric scan complete. Welcome back, Little Rogers." EDITH said and Amaya had never been so relieved to hear that nickname again. "Shall I execute all cancellation protocols?" EDITH asked.
"Just do it. Execute them all." Amaya said.
"Confirmed."
Peter and Amaya both let out a breath of relief as the drones all started to fly away, and then Amaya laughed a little. "Thank you." She said before taking the glasses off and handing them to Peter, so he could run his biometric scan again, and once he did. He gave the glasses back to Amaya, and she put them in the pocket of her suit as they both turned to Beck who was dying on the ground.
"How could you do all of this?" Amaya asked.
"You'll see, Amaya, Peter. People, they need to believe. And nowadays... they'll believe anything." He said before he took his last breath, and then Amaya, tapped her bracelet so she could speak to Sia.
"Sia... is this real?" She asked.
"All illusions are down, Amaya," Sia responded back to her, and then Amaya looked at her boyfriend, and let out a breath of relief, and as they got off of the higher bridge and onto the bridge where the cars and everything else was destroyed, Amaya wrapped Peter in a hug. She noticed he was limping, he noticed that she was bruised, but they were alive.
"I'm okay... we did it. Are you okay?" Peter whispered to her and Amaya nodded her head.
"Yeah... I'm okay. We...-we won." Amaya whispered back to him.
"Do you know if everyone else is okay?" Peter asked and Amaya gently tapped the comm in her ear.
"Mom. . is everyone okay?" Amaya asked.
"Yeah, baby. We're all fine. You and Spider-Man did it." Katherine said back and Amaya nodded her head as she and Peter continued to squeeze each other tightly.
"Yes, everyone's okay," Amaya whispered and then she and Peter pulled away. They both hated to see each other bruised and bloodied, but Amaya was just satisfied that they won. "We got him," Amaya said and Peter nodded his head, but he still looked downcast.
"Yeah, we did," Peter said. Then Amaya remembered something else she had in her pocket.
"Oh, um, so anyway... when we were about to go on the outside of the jet, Happy pulled me aside and he gave me this," Amaya said while pulling the necklace out of her pocket. The crystal sapphire flower that Peter bought her in Italy, except some of the petals were broken off from the fight, and when Peter saw that, he frowned more.
"Oh, no... no. Oh, Maya, I'm so sorry. I had this plan. This stupid plan. I wrote it all down, and I was going to buy you this and give it to you in Paris at the top...-" He said, and Amaya shook her head while cutting him off by pressing her lips against his to silence him. Broken or not she loved the necklace, because Peter was the one who bought it, and he put a lot of thought into it.
"Peter..." Amaya said.
"And you kissed me. Not that I don't love that, but... what?" Peter asked and Amaya laughed.
"Goodness, Underoos. You're so cute. Sapphire crystal, like... my birthstone and...-"
"...-My/Your powers." Peter and Amaya said the last part together, and Amaya smiled.
"Yeah. I'm sorry it's broken." Peter said and Amaya shook her head.
"I actually like it better broken," Amaya said and Peter knew that now he was just going to have to go for it. There was no plan anymore, they just fought another big battle not even a year after the biggest battle of both of their lives, he lost five years with her, he didn't want to hold back anymore.
"I love you, Amaya," Peter said and Amaya was a little caught off guard by his words.
"W...-What?" She asked.
"That was the point of the whole plan. To buy you this necklace, give it to you in Paris at the Eiffel Tower, and tell you that I love you because I do. I love you, Amaya Rogers." Peter said and Amaya smiled at him while biting down on her lip.
"I love you too, Peter Parker." She said and Peter smiled before lightly chuckling. He was just so happy to hear her say it back.
"You do?" He asked and she nodded her head.
"Yeah, I do. I love you, Underoos." Amaya said. Peter was smiling again, hearing it come from her again, brought the biggest smile onto his face as he leaned in to kiss his girlfriend again. Amaya laid her hand down on his cheek as their lips moved together, and when they pulled away, they both had smiles on their faces.
"We should probably...-" Amaya trailed off, and Peter nodded.
"...-Change? Yeah..." He said, and they both laughed a little awkwardly, but it was cute. Peter reached out for her hand which she took in her own and gave it a squeeze as they walked off the bridge together.
They were happy and in love.
