On the edge of collapsion, in a black collared shirt, and tie
Dark black circles under the eyes
Shaking hands, and comforting the crying ones
Air keeps getting stuck in the lungs
Expression solemn
Talking, but feeling flotsam
The walls, are too bright for such a horrible time
And at the front of the room is the biggest crime
Photos of him from his drinking days
He would have wanted that side of him to be lost in space
He was proud of his new life
He was happy, and he was alive(ish)
Brought a copy of my highschool diploma
He wanted one of his kids to graduate highschool and go to college because he didn't bother
Hoping he would have been proud
But knowing that still there was doubt
Holding back tears
As people say their prayers
The walls start to close in
And the world starts to spin
Get shaken awake
"Hey, buddy. Wake up"
Open my eyes
The feelings rise
