As I sit in the classroom with nothing to do,
My eyes settle on a distant, lonely tree;
Oh how many times have we been in it's place,
Craving for attention, begging for company!
As I sit in the classroom with nothing to do,
My ears can't help but overhear;
Voices of classmates, narrating interesting stories,
That it'll all be over is my only fear.
As I sit in the classroom with nothing to do,
My fingers run through the creases of my desk;
Every scar ebbed has a story to tell,
Every ink stain smeared lays the mind to rest.
As I sit in the classroom with nothing to do,
My mind wanders to a wistful place sunkissed;
High and low it searched, through oceans wide,
Then, I realised, there is no place better than this.
