The morning went by like usual. Hermione and I ate our breakfast and went straight to Lockhart's class.
"Good Morning class. Today we have your first test of the year. It will be on your books, hopefully you read them. What am I saying? Of course you have read my books. I wrote these books myself and they are quite wonderful. Now do your best" He says before passing out all the papers
I looked down at the questions and they were all about him. What was Lockhart's favorite color? I couldn't believe he was our teacher. But sadly I knew the answer. Since these were the books provided for our class, Hermione and I read them already. So I ignored my thoughts and just answered the questions.
After everyone was done with the tests, we handed them back so he could look at the answers.
"I'm shocked. Some of you had no idea about my favorite color or my dream in life. There was only two tests in this room that deserves full mark. Mr. Potter and Ms. Granger. You two did splendid"
I couldn't but roll my eyes as he went on looking though the test answers. I glanced over at Hermione to see the slight pink in her cheeks. I hope this class ended soon.
Transfiguration...
Hermione's pov
"Now class today we are going to be transfiguring these rats into water goblets. This is very simple. Just do as me. Vera Verto" Mcgonagall cast at her rat
Instantly it turned into a water goblet. That's so cool. I hope mine was successful as hers.
"Now Who is first up. Mr. Potter how about you go first?" She asks him
I could see him hesitate. He never liked being the center of attention. I grabbed his hand and he smiled at me.
"Vera Verto" His said pointing his wand at the Rat, and it turned into a water goblet
"Very good Mr. Potter. Ms. Granger?"
"Vera Verto" I did the same as Harry and mine turned out perfect
"Very impressive you two. Now who else's wants to show me?" She asks to the rest of the class
"I'll go" Ron says holding his hand up, he smirked and looked over confident
He did the spell same as Harry and I, and his turned into a furry water goblet. That's what he gets for being overly confident. As the professor went back to the front of the class, I remembered something Harry told me about.
"Professor I had a quick question, do you mind telling us about the chamber of secrets?" I asked her and the she went silent
"Very well. To begin, Hogwarts was founded thousands of years ago, by four of the greatest witches. Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin. Now three of those founders lived harmoniously. With the exception of one house" She started to explain
"I'm sure I can guess who" I heard Harry whisper to me and I glanced over at Ron and Malfoy
"Salazar Slytherin wanted to be more selective about the students who would admitted to Hogwarts and believed magical learning should be kept within all magic families only. Meaning pure bloods. He was unable to convince the others, so he decided to leave the school. This is quite a legend here at Hogwarts but it has been said that Slytherin had built a hidden chamber in this castle. Before he left he sealed it until his own heir would be able to open the chamber and let out the darkness inside. This darkness would only attack those who were seen as indifferent or unworthy of magic, according to Salazar"
"Muggleborns you mean?" I asked her
"Sadly yes. Many have tried and failed at finding it. So it remains a legend to this day" She finished before heading back to her desk
I felt Harry grab my hand as she continued class. I couldn't get what she said out of my head. Could the heir of Slytherin be sitting in this room?
After classes...
"Harry do you think the heir of Slytherin could be here in this school?" I asked him as we walked back to common room
"Hermione you heard what the professor said, it was just a legend. There is no heir of Slytherin and you are worthy of magic" He said wrapping his arm around my shoulder
"You never know. You could be the heir of Slytherin. I mean you can talk to snakes, just like Salazar Slytherin" I told him joking around
"You're right. But I'm not going to go around using parseltongue at people. If anyone was to find out of my ability, they would probably think I was related to him somehow"
We finally made it back to the common room and started our homework for the day. We had to get this done because Harry had practice today. This time they were going to practice without the Slytherins. Which was good. I couldn't help but think of those looks Ron and Draco gave me when she was talking about the chamber of secrets. They probably did think I was unworthy of magic.
After our homework, Harry and I went down to the field so I could watch him practice. On the way I saw Ginny and invited her to join me, but she ignored me and kept her head inside of the weird brown journal. I have seen her carrying it around everywhere. I must be her diary or something, but she was acting strange.
I took my seat on the bleachers while Harry went to the locker room to change. I loved watching him play. He looked so happy. I thought he looked quite handsome in his quidditch uniform, but I wouldn't tell him that. It would only embarrass him. Next thing I knew, they all started flying out onto the field.
I saw him race around the field looking for the snitch. I wanted to wave at him but he needed to focus. He has a game against Slytherin next week and he desperately wants to win. Harry was one of the best players on to team, so Slytherin has no chance. I couldn't wait to see the git Malfoy lose next week.
The practice went on quite awhile until Harry finally caught the snitch. I clapped along with the rest of the team before making my way down to the field to see Harry.
"Good job Harry. Slytherin is so losing next week" I told him pressing my lips to his cheek and giving him a hug
"Hermione where's our kisses? We worked just as hard as Harry" Fred says as both him and George walk over to us
"Shouldn't you two to be off to the locker room? Dinner is starting in one hour" I told them not responding to their question
They just laughed at us and went straight to the locker room with the rest of the team. I could see Harry's face turn instantly red.
"Well I should go change. Do you want to wait for me outside the locker room or should I just meet you at dinner?" He asks grabbing my hand in his
"I will just meet you at dinner. I'm going to go and find Ginny. She has been acting so strange lately" I told him as we continued walking
I walked him to the locker room before making my way to the common room to find Ginny.
