It's all Holy until you start to shootholes in it

An oppressive life masquerading asparadise

There was nothing remotely attractivein it

I still saw that glimmer, though

The one that people give off, the onesometimes hidden

It pulled me, made me want to claim

A certain past that's not my own

But is passable to most in casualconversations

Lumbering overhead, I appreciate yourcandor

Your appropriately doled advice

The way you created community aroundyou

With little more than a pool cue

But nothing more than a rat I am,

Hanging on to the scraps left by yourcircle

I try, I try, I try again

I make believe it's all about mysalvation

And the fact that I was given none fromthe start

She hadn't been saved either

But eyes caught across a room

Familiarity turned interest into weakspark

But you needed a chaperone,

Someone to keep you from being who youwere

A supposed man, one would guess

So I sit idly by, watching her wilessink in

Later,

I hear the rumors, I retell the tales

I can't believe either one, becauseboth

Sit on my brain, droll as can be

Did the scary woman really kiss youthat way?

Or did your faith play tricks on you?

It's not just the pious—

Everyone wants what they can't have

And you'll live the rest of your days

Living as one, with thoughts ofanother.
