The next day I swallow my anxiety and call Giovanni.
He picks up on the third ring.
"Giovanni?"
"Sophia? Are you alright?"

"I went to Italy. To see my Mother and Sister".
I beam, "That's great! How are they?"
"Mama is worried like usual and Lucia...is different".
"How so?"
"I dont know, she wears short tight dresses, makeup, and now she wants to straighten her hair".
I laugh, "She sounds like your average teen girl".
"But she has always been a nerdy tomboy, she never cared about how she dressed or if she had a pimple".
"So maybe she's just finding herself?"
He scoffs, "I never went through that stage. And did I mention she talks back to me now?"
"Now that makes me think it's an ego thing and your just mad she isn't kissing your feet anymore".
"It's not an ego thing. I have my suspicions of what could be going on".
"Oh great and what do you think is happening?"
"There's a someone".
I narrow my eyes, "You think your sister has a boyfriend?"
"Ugh! Why did you say it out loud?"
I laugh, "Gio did you forget she's almost 18, an adult?"
"Sophia did you forget this is my baby sister we're talking about? And I have more".
I roll my eyes,"What? And I hope you aren't spying on her".
"Too late. I asked my head of security if there has been anyone-particularly a boy coming in and out of the estate. And they said no. So that leads me to the only conclusion-"
"That it had to be someone from the inside".
"Exactly".
I tap my chin, "You suspect one of your men?"
"I know it's one of my men. But the two are being really careful right now so I have to be patient with this one".
"Wait but why don't you just ask her what's going on?"
"Because she knows and my men know, my sister is off limits unless you want to have a taste of death".
"And if your wrong?"
"I'm a prideful man but I admit my wrongs Sophia".
The rest of the phone call I fill Giovanni in on how life was going and I explain what happened with Lace's mother.
He clicks his tongue, "Are you sure your OK?"
I laugh, "For the millionth time yes, I'm fine...but the real reason I called you after soo many Months have passed is because...I found 'Me', Gio".
The line goes so quiet I have to check if he hung up but then he speaks, "You don't know how happy I am to hear those words!"
"But I'm still serious about taking it slow. That night I was trying to tell you something important to me".
"OK, tell me tomorrow over breakfast a Cassie's Cafe, I'll pick you up around 9 am?"
I smile, "I could go for some chocolate chip cookies and warm milk".

True to his word Gio picks me up early in the morning. I do a double take when I see him totally forgetting he dresses up on the regular in Armani suits. I laugh not caring that I'm in Jean shorts, a yellow tank top and flip flops.
"Your glowing Sophia", he kisses my cheek.

We both turn to see Mr. Santayana at the door in his robe.

I push Giovanni inside the car then turn back to him.
He eyes me down, "It's a chilly morning for short shorts don't you think?"

Mr Santayana taps on Giovanni's window which he rolls down.

I order four chocolate chip cookies with milk while Giovanni orders an espresso. We sit at the back corner of the small cafe where we can look out of the glass window at people passing by.
"So what did you have to tell me amore?"
I take a bit of a cookie then sip some milk to wash it down, "OK so that night before Lace called I was trying to tell you some important things about me".
"Your name isn't really Sophia and your an assassin trying to kill me?"
I laugh, "No, I was trying to tell you that I'm a virgin".
I study his eyes for any look of disappointment but he just nods his head.
"And I want wait until marriage".
He nods again.
"What do you think?...honestly".
He breaks off a piece of cookie and feeds it to me, "Honestly If I just saw you on the streets I would never think you were a virgin but because I know you, yeah makes a lot of sense.
