*Third Pov*

After Yato left for the roof, everyone remained in their places. The only noise present was that of Alex's and Yukine's laughter. Eventually, after what felt like hours, Steven cleared his throat and everyone turned their attention to him.

"I think we all need a distraction. We have much work that needs to be done, let's square that off before any trouble arises from outside." His left hand outstretched for Chain.

Everyone disbursed, Chain and Steven heading over to the play area. As they neared, they spotted the two talking and asking questions. Steven was the one to interrupt the conversation and the two turned to look at him.

"Yukine, is it alright if we borrow Alex from your conversation?"

"Yeah. I'll go hang out with Leo. See ya later, Alex." With that said, Yukine gets up and walks off to take a seat next to Leo.

Steven picks up Alex, in the younglings hands a stuffed brown bear. Steven then turns to Chain, aware that the woman was still troubled after what they heard.

"Chain?"

She pulls out of her thoughts and faces the two before her. A smile on her face as she sees Alex.

"Yes?"

"If you're still thinking of a way to make sure Yato isn't seen, stop by Patrick's shop. He's been working on something that might be helpful to Yato." Chain's interest peaked, Steven continued. "The device is supposed to send an electronic wave through the skin and into the body's nervous system. The wave will act as a message being sent to the brain, tricking the brain into thinking that the user is moving their body. The brain will then move the body at rapid speeds and the user will continue to maintain their control. At the speed in which the body is moving, it'll be difficult for anyone to spot him."

"It sounds like a speed monkey."

"Yes, it does. I think that's what Patrick is aiming for, though Leo should still be able to see the user of the device."

"Any idea on how the device will look?"

"From what Patrick said, it'll more than likely look like a normal watch. I am aware that the device has a limit to being used and that it has a timer that can be set before it shuts down to cool down to prevent it from overheating. Of course, he also thought it would be necessary for the device to be charged by solar or electrical power."

"I'll keep that mind. I'll start on my tasks. Alex?" The young boy turns to look at his mother. "Don't cause trouble while I'm away, okay?"

"Okay." Chain smiles as she walks towards the window and leaps out of it to begin her daily work.

Steven turns to Alex. "Any idea on what you're going to do today?"

"Yup." Unaware that Yato was looking at them both from the second floor.

Steven looked at the clock and back at Alex. "It's time for your nap, you also have another one this afternoon. Let's go get you settled, we don't want to worry your mother."

The two left the main room and into the hallway to find the dorm they let Alex nap in, once they were gone, Yato jumped down onto the first floor. He was walking towards Klaus when he stopped at Steven's desk, a framed picture caught his attention. On Steven's desk, in a frame, is a picture of Chain, Steven, and Alex; the kid looking younger. It wasn't just the three in the picture that caught his attention, it was the background. The jungle set covered by snow would be ignored by anyone, but Yato knew the place and suddenly a faint memory appears in his mind's eye.

A little girl around 7, with short black hair and amethyst eyes, head covered in an iris hat with a similar jacket and a pair of gloves; black pants and tennis shoes. She was climbing the set, laughing and smiling.

"Wait! Hold on for me!" A young man around 13, wearing a pine jacket with a midnight blue scarf, ran towards the little girl.

"Ch.." The name becomes blurred. "Be careful, I don't want to worry mom and dad."

"Hurry."

"I'm coming."

Yato began to approach them, the young boy was the first to notice. He saw his face but could only remember his blood crimson eyes. The boy had his right hand holding the bar and his right leg resting below it, ready to pull him up. As soon as he saw Yato approach, the boy let go of the bar and lowered his foot to the ground. The little girl climbed down and grabbed hold of the boys hand and inched closer to him, he tightened his hold on her hand.

"Good afternoon, mister." He looked at his hand, holding a sword. "You don't mind me asking why you have a sword, do you?" A dim smile on the boy or so he thinks he saw a smile.

The god stopped in his tracks, looked down on and saw his attire. He wore an indigo yukata with a blue belt and wooden sandals. In his right hand, a katana; with his left, he touched his hair, tied in a bun with a cerulean ribbon.

"Are you homeless? I'm sure our mom and dad can help you." He looked at the little girl, who inched closer to her brother after saying that.

Yato gave a smile to the both of them. "I'm not homeless, I have a home to return to." A hint of sadness in the god's voice. "What are you two doing in this empty park in the dead of winter?"

The boy answered. "We wanted to take a look around the area before people begin to leave their homes and come here. It isn't everyday that the snow is a shade of pure white, it makes you feel special to be the first witness."

While Yato couldn't remember the boy, he does remember that the boy and girl didn't look alike or share features. The little girl gasped and looked at her older brother.

"Al come on. Mom and dad are waiting for us to return home so we can head to the shrine."

The boy looked at the man. "Good luck on whatever you plan to do. Just remember, luck is a gift, not something that just happens. Have a good day, mister."

They both leave and the god stands alone staring where they went and back at the jungle set. The words always ringing in the mind of the war god and the playground etched into his mind. The only thing he remembered well about the two was the little girl in full detail and the boy on the other hand, only his eyes and the way he composed himself that day. That was the day in which the god gained hope to change his fate.

Yato was too distracted by his memory that he didn't notice Klaus behind him or when he laid his right hand on his left shoulder. Upon contact, the god jumped back in surprise and looked at the leader of Libra.

"You seemed lost in thought, and I was wondering if you were okay?" Concerned showed in Klaus' voice.

"Yes, I'm fine. I was just remembering an old memory, that's all."

"I see. Gilbert is giving out refreshments and treats, why not treat yourself to them?"

"Thanks, I will." Klaus nods and turns to leave to his desk when Yato calls out to him.

"Wait, Klaus. Do you have a moment?"

"Yes?"

"That picture on Steven's desk. Why is it there?"

Klaus looks at the framed picture and back to Yato. "We don't question the lives of our members and we don't ask about them, unless they feel comfortable to tell us on their own."

"Oh, I see." Yato looked a bit down.

"All I can say, is that once Alex was born, Steven took it upon himself the responsibility of caring for our resident werewolves. He makes sure nothing happens to either Chain or Alex and that they're both safe 24/7. I can't tell you anymore, because that's all I know."

"Huh, he really isn't as cold as he looks like. Then again, you all are nice people, even Zapp. I'll let you get back to your work."

"Before I leave you alone, there is something you must know."

"And that is?"

"Don't be surprised if Alex begins to call you 'uncle' or Yukine 'brother'." Klaus walks back to his desk, leaving a smiling Yato.

The god murmurs to himself. "I'll make sure nothing happens to any of you."

The god walks over to Gilbert and sees that neither K.K., Chain, Steven, or Alex are present. He grabs some treats and a cup of green tea, taking a seat next to Yukine. Just as Zapp bit onto his cookie, he stopped chewing and ran to a garbage can and spitting it out, dropping the cookie into the can itself too.

"HOT! HOT! HOT! I need water, milk, anything!" Instead of waiting, he ran to the kitchen.

Everyone stood staring at the entrance to the kitchen in silence and just as the quietness came it was replaced by laughter. Everyone knew who was the culprit and Zapp no doubt would try to get even, but would most likely fail.

"Where's that furball!?"

No doubt, Alex planned that prank ahead of time and more than likely, had a partner in crime. If it's not his mother, it's Steven. The pup slept in the watchful eye of Steven and the rest laughed at the prank pulled by the two. For certain, Chain would laugh at the prank once she hears about it.
