Campbell House – Spokane, Washington

One of Washington's most well-known historical landmarks was designed by Kirtland K. Cutter in 1898 and first owned by Amasa Basaliel Campbell.

The sad history attached to the Campbell House happened during the early 1900s when three of the Campbell children were murdered by a burglar and kidnapped the fourth child.

The child was never returned and with such a tragic past, it is hardly surprising that it would be one of the most haunted places in Washington State.

Those visiting the house report feeling very unsettled upon entering the house and are often overcome with feelings of dread.

A portrait of Amasa Basaliel Campbell located in the house is said to follow visitors as they wander the house—possibly looking to see if the kidnapper has returned?

Black Diamond Cemetery

While everyone thinks of a cemetery as a creepy place, it is considered one of Washington State's most haunted locations.

Visitors to the cemetery report hearing whistling and voices when no one is present; not to mentions reports of swinging coal lanterns of dead coal miners have reportedly been seen on foggy nights.

University Heights – Seattle, Washington

Once a school in Seattle, it is now a community center. It made the Most Haunted Places in Washington State when the spirit of a little boys was seen haunting the building.

The boy is supposedly a student during the time the building was still operating as a school, making it likely the boy never left.

The boy has been seen playing in hallways, not always alone, according to many visitors, staff and paranormal investigators having seen small groups of children laughing and playing in the building.

Tacoma Old City Hall – Tacoma, Washington

This building has been at the center of various hauntings since the mid-70s.

Local town records police responding to reports in 1974 to investigate a variety of disturbances like lights going on and off, noises coming from inside, fire alarms sounding, and even intruder alarms being triggered.

There have been no signs of forced entry and nothing has been disturbed and no logical explanations to these disturbances.

Fort Vancouver National Historic Site – Vancouver, Washington

Fort Vancouver dates back to the 19th century—first serving as a fur trading outpost on the Columbia River, located partly in Washington and Oregon.

The ruins of Fort Vancouver has its share of secrets within its walls.

One of the most active buildings is the Grant House Art Center which sits among the houses in Officers' row.

Strange phenomena reported includes phones ringing when they are completely unplugged and doors opening or closing by themselves.

There is even a ghost sighting whom staff have nicknamed "Sully" that can be seen sitting in the café drinking coffee.

Mount Baker Theater – Bellingham, Washington

When Mount Baker Theater opened its doors in 1927, it has been plagued by ghosts ever since!

Some reports of sightings are: unexplained noises, cold spots, strange disembodied voices, balls of light and even the odd apparition.

A resident ghost named "Judy" where theater staff reports develops crushes on male projectionists and ushers at the theater. When Judy picks a crush, they'll hear their names called across the stage or feel ghostly touches on their backs and shoulders.

Judy is just one of 4 ghosts that paranormal investigators have discovered here.

Oxford Saloon – Snohomish, Washington

Considered to be one of the top haunted places in Washington State, paranormal investigators have picked up some clear examples of electronic voice phenomena.

Built in 1900, Oxford Saloon has been modified over the years, seeing its fair share of violence over the years—especially in the basement and the men's card room.

One of the most documented murders is that of a Policeman named Henry who was a regular at the saloon, and may have worked as a bouncer on his days off.

Henry's spirit is said to be one of many spirits haunting the Oxford Saloon most often appearing on the basement stairs, or known to pinch women in the ladies' restroom.

The upper floors report there are three more ghosts—a man in bowler hat and two female spirits.

One of these ladies is a madam called Kathleen, an older woman dressed in purple with matching purple bows.

The other lady is a girl named Amelia, who was forced into prostitution by Kathleen and found dead in a closet on the property.

Kells Irish Pub – Seattle, Washington

Known as the Butterworth Building at one time, it was a former mortuary before coming the popular bar.

Kells Irish Pub is not only considered one of Washington State's most haunted places, it is also considered to be the most haunted pub in North America and has been the focus of different paranormal television shows.

Many bodies have passed through the mortuary due to disease epidemics, mining accidents, and violent crime—leaving its toll on the property.

Some unexplained activity includes mirrors spontaneously shattering for no apparent reason, plaster falling from walls, glasses being swiped off of surfaces by unseen hands, and disembodied voices.

The owner claims to have seen the apparition of mixed race man with very thin hands wearing a suit jacket sitting at the end of the bar.

Some of the bodies that passed through the mortuary were victims of the next haunted location: Starvation Heights Sanitarium.

Starvation Heights Sanitarium – Olalla, Washington

Starvation Heights Sanitarium was operated by Dr. Linda Hazzard and her husband Sam. The doctor was using a strange treatment method to treat patients – STARVATION!

As one can probably guess –the treatment was not very effective and many of the patients died.

The bodies were incinerated within the sanitarium to cover up the mistreatment while Dr. Hazzard maintained her public image as a strong female leader.

Behind the scenes, Dr. Hazzard was evil and greedy. Today all that can be seen are the foundation of the building and the incinerator—apart from spirits of former patients supposedly seen roaming the ruins!!

Northern State Mental Hospital – Sedro-Woolley, Washington

As many as 2,000 patients is said to have lived in the Northern State Mental Hospital, a large percentage obviously having died in the building of various causes.

While some died of natural causes, far more died as a result of strenuous physical labor, electroshock therapy treatments gone wrong, botched lobotomies, complications during forced sterilizations and some straight out murdered.

It is clear that Northern State Mental Hospital has made the list of haunted places in Washington State.

Various reports of paranormal activity include, the apparition of a nurse pushing a male patient in wheelchair, shadow figures, disembodied screams, and cold spots.
