I stare at my reflection on my gigantic mirror, fixing my bow tie and tux. I run my hand through my hair smoothening it slightly. I can't believe this day had finally arrived. I dreaded it.
My mate, Natalie is being crowned and I particularly don't know what to feel about that.
She left a few hours ago to prepare for this particular day. Whatever girls do anyway. I don't really give a shit what they do anyway.
I head downstairs after making sure I looked presentable for this ceremony,after all all packs had been invited for this particular thing.
I tap my foot impatiently on the floor already anxious. I sigh running my hand through my hair once again.
Suddenly the click of heels sound and my head immediately snaps to the stairs top of the stairs as both Leila and Natalie take slow steps down.
My eyes roam through the both of them, and not in the creepy type of way. They both looked stunning. Their make up done to perfection.
Natalie has on a floor length golden tight dress with nice black heels that makes her look taller than she really is. She looks stunning.
My sister on the other hand, is wearing a knee length white strapless dress with white heels, her hair held to the side adding to her looks.
My parents come right after them both holding hands as they descend down the stairs.
I bring my hand out to Natalie who grasp it in her own as she takes the last step down.
"You look beautiful love." I smile.
"You don't look too bad yourself." She smiles as she stares deep into my eyes. Something flash in her eyes and I don't catch it.
"Come on son,the ceremony is about to start." My dad snaps me out of my thoughts as we all head to the ballroom. One of my warriors opens the massive door for us and we walk in all eyes immediately landing on us.
Alll the alphas lined up on the front, both staring at us in awe. The all bow slightly at the wave of power that hit them. I grin at that. I love when they show respect. It shows I have control.
We all head to the stage where my father willvintroduce the queen and my mother will crown her.
We all walk and stand on stage. My parents behind me and Natalie next to me looking so happy, a smile radiating off of her face.
I smile at that,she is excited to be queen, I hope she will be dedicated to the people and treat them right.
Instead of doubting her I decided to trust her, I mean I can't find any other mate. What if it turns out I was doubting her all along yet she is my mate. Further more, the thought of her not bring my mate is simply impossible and unheard of. Just the thought of her knowing I ever doubted her,doesn't sit well with me.
The crowning ceremony immediately begins. I turn my head slightly to my sister who looked she would prefer to be anywhere else but here. She notices my look and she immediately smiles brightly. Lie
I turn to my father who immediately begins his speech.
"The royal pack, all the packs all over the world,we have come here to witness the crowning of our queen,Natalie Sparks.
Our queen will make every thing perfect,he will work hand in hand with our King to make our kind prosper." My father's voice booms through the mic. Wild cheers echos through the room making me proud.
"Now it's time to crown our alpha queen." There are alot of cheers. Natalie face brightens up while my mom and Leila offer small smiles. I don't think they'll ever get along.
My dad gives me my crown which is pure gold with tiny wolf crusted to it showing unity and love for each other as werewolves.
I place it on my head and it immediately glows brightly as the crowd goes wild.
"Now for our queen to receive her crown, please step forward." Natalie does just tha, a huge smile on her perfect face.
Immediately I see the reaction I've seen before in the congregation. Fear. Most of my pack members stare at her in fear as she kneels before my father. I ignore the weird looks.
I decided to let everything slide and see everything in her point of view, maybe I'd understand her. Yes I've been feeling off, but if I continue not trusting her, it will only get worse. She hasn't done anything so bad that would make me fully doubt her so there's no reason not to trust her.
She steps forward and as she was about to receive the crown,a strong wave of power comes through the pack bond and I clutch my head knowing immediately that someone just came in through the border.
My dad halts midway clutching his head slightly too which surprises me. Whoever this person is,he or she is powerful.
'What is going on son.' my father inquires through my mindlink.
'I don't know dad, I'll send my warriors to check it out.' I reply cutting the mindlink before mindlinking my third Bentley.
'Ben go to the border and check it out.' I state and I see him speed walk out of the ball room with some of my warriors. Almost immediately mummers break out among various people in the ball room.
'What is wrong Damon?' Jake asks.
'I don't know man, someone crossed the border, whoever they are,they are really strong, luckily I had prepared for this situation, during a coronation,you know the rogues always try to attack.' I explain.
'Yeah,I guess you're right, I kind of felt it too.' he mutters which shocks me to say the least.
I haven't realize the crowning ceremony has come to a halt.
"What happened, I kind of zoned out." I ask my mom whose face looked worried.
"Your father stopped the ceremony till the threat has been identified and dealt with." She replies. I nod my head as I take a sit next to Natalie whose eyes were alot darker than before. She clenches her fist on her side, her eyes twitching as if she's about to shift. What's up with her?
I immediately got hold of her hands as I place a kiss on her knuckles.
"Don't worry Natalie,the ceremony will continue soon." I offer with a small smile.
She stares at me before nodding and offering me a smile which was completely and utterly fake.
'Alpha it's only a human,we've searched the entire place, it's only her.' Ben states through the mindlink a few minutes later.
'You sure Ben?' I ask not actually believing it. How can a human be that powerful?
'Yes alpha, We've searched everywhere. It's just the human and she is badly injured. I think she was attacked by a rogue.' he responds his voice strained slightly.
'Take her to the pack doctor and inform him of the situation.' I reply as I cut off the mindlink.
I immediately inform my dad what Bentley said only he is skeptical about it. I am too. There's no way all of us could feel the power rush through our veins without it meaning something or someone powerful.Nonetheless he continues with the ceremony.
"The threat has been handled ,there is nothing to worry about,let the ceremony continue." He says and there are cheers everywhere.
This makes me scowl. He shouldn't have even mentioned it to the crowd. They'll only think I'm weak which is fucking annoying. I don't want any of them thinking I'm an easy target especially those alphas. I calm myself down clenching my hand slightly trying to prevent the waves of power from radiating off of me.
My father grabs the crown and brings it forward in a maroon cushion.
Natalie is smiles broadly, seeing her happy is making me smile slightly.
Without warning, Riven growls out loudly startling me. This is the first thing he has done in a long while. I try to comprehend what he is saying, only I can't it. I block him out since my head begins to pound hard.
What the fuck is wrong with him? He should be glad my mate, our mate is getting the crown and we can finally complete the mating process.
My father hands the crown to my mom so she can place it on the new Queen's head.
My mother smiles as she picks the crown with her hands which glows lightly signifying she is a queen.
Natalie kneels before her smile not faltering. My mom places the crown on her head.
It then happens. Something I least expected, something I had been denying for a very long time.
The crown doesn't glow.
It turns into a dimmer color, nearly turning black.
My mom takes a step back and I hear gasp through the crowd. No this...this can't be. It's unheard of. Tell me this is a joke.
I was starting to accept her,the past three days before her coronation,I looked at the bright side of everything, I tried to understand everything from her point of view,and understand why my pack members feared the queen the now I know why the crown doesn't glow.
She is not... my mate.
This cannot be. I stare at her for a minute wondering what to do. The ball room becomes totally silent. The alphas stare in confusion, after all no one ever knew the signifance of crowning a queen anyway.
She looks at me and at that moment her eyes goes wide.
"Damon what's wrong?" Her voice barely audible and my eyes narrows.
"You are not my mate." I state bluntly. My ears pick dramatic gasps from the crowd annoying me even more.
My mom has her hand over her mouth, her eyes wide. Leila on the other hand looks relieved yet beyond angry.
"The ceremony has been cut shor. Sorry for that,but everyone should leave the Royal palace until this is all settled." My father's voice snaps and I cringe. I don't move, I only hear commotions as all the wolves struggle to leave.
What will all those alphas think. I clench my fist tightly already feeling my eyes glowing a bright gold. They are all finally going to conclude I'm weak, cutting shortghe coronation of their queen but this, this is fucking necessary.
I stare down at Natalie. I tried so fucking hard to feel something for her and it usually never worked. All along she wasn't my mate. All this time I was wondering what the fucking hell was happening.
She isn't my mate, never was.
I knew something was wrong with her but I willed myself to believe that it was only my imagination,and the feeling I was having that something bad was going to happen, actually did.
"Damon,what are you talking about? I'm your mate, can't you feel the sparks,the mate bond?" She whispers at the verge of tears.
I don't know what to believe anymore, everything is so fucking confusing. What am I supposed to do? Riven isn't there to give me advice when I need it.
I don't want to deal with this shit right now. I turn around and speed walk out All the guests who were invited are gossiping about what just happened. I growl out in anger and they immediately bow as they hurriedly left the ball room.
Most of the people have already left and some are boarding their cars. I run towards the tree immediately shifting into my gigantic gray and brown wolf. I have never needed my wolf like right now.
I run faster hoping that by the time I come back I would already be feeling okay, which I knew won't work anyway.

Sorry I had written Damon's wolf was midnight black but it's actual fur is grey and brown. I didn't want where the alpha's fur is predictably black. I wanted a change.
