Lilith
Smooth grainy dirt crumbling on the ground,
the golden red apples fell from their trees,
the sunlight reflected their emerald leaves,
everything so perfect, Heaven could not compete.
But what good is perfection when you are alone?
Adam desired another, someone like him,
so God made for him the alluring Lilith,
once dirt now carved into eye pleasing form,
her golden thread hair fell to her waste,
her skin soft as a petal on a flower.
She was perfect, being made from Eden,
but her mind ran like leopards racing in the fields.
Within her soul lingered a demonic beast,
a beast that could not be tamed if God Himself tried.
This was too much for Adam for his body
could not bear hers.
Inevitably, this enabled woman must leave.
And God made Adam another from his own rib,
so she could not overpower him.
But Lilith will forever be first, Earth’s first mother,
my mother, for I too am a wild beast,
no man can contain.
