"Cas, do you think I'm doing something stupid?" Essie turned to her brother, who was finishing packing a suitcase.
Caspian pauses, pulling himself to sit beside Essie and he placed a hand in her knee. "Ess, you've said it yourself yi need to get away from everything. Yi want to do stuff just in case you can't. We have to pray that yi will get to live for the next fifty odd years but we can't know that for definite. No one is forcing yi to do this but if yi want to yi can."
Essie drew a long breath, she tucked her (finally) dry hair behind her ears and took hold of Caspian's hand in hers. "I want to do this. I want to get away and not have any distractions. Just me, you, Fra, Prop now that he has finished filming and Shona."
"Then that is what will happen. Mammy will look after your phone and any pictures yi want taken one of us will do it. Are yi sure you want to leave your phone here because there is no turning back once we leave."
"I'm sure."
"Then lets get going, Ess."
Caspian zipped up the case and he took both his and his sister's in his hands and dragged them down the stairs where Fra, Prosper and Shona were waiting with there's. Nancy and John were with the adults, smiling at Essie who followed behind Caspian. This would be the first time that she would have actually left the property since returning home from the hospital. Even when Harry went to the airport she stayed back at the house, Fra driving him to the airport alone.
Essie's eyes laid on the lock screen which was a picture of Harry that she had taken a while back when he was in Ireland just after her birthday, before her heart failure. She hadn't told him about what was happening, Tom knew and so did Harrison, but the twins didn't. She wanted Tom's advice about not telling Harry which he wasn't much help for only telling her to do as she wanted to and not let anyone else tell her otherwise.
Tugging her bottom lip between her teeth she slid the bar across and watched as the screen turned black. Handing her mother the phone, Essie Hughes her parents goodbye. For at least a month she would not be home and she would not have her phone. She wanted to escape as much as possible and just enjoy her trip with her brothers and Shona because she was scared that she would miss something and be distracted by everything else.
It was Fra's idea about leaving her phone and she agreed, but still questioned her decision up until this very moment. Yet there was no going back now. As soon as she left the threshold, she left everything else behind her.
"Let's go!" Exclaimed Prosper, taking hold of Essie's hand. "We're going to have a lot of fun!"
