silence

i understand now why i like to
listen to music when i'm sad.
it's to escape the silence.
something so simple i didn't
even know it myself.
i hate silence.
it's so hard to drown it out
even if you're in a room filled
with people.
silence will always weasel its
way into the cracks.
silence screams so loud it
shatters glass.
silence is indestructible.
even when i turn up the volume,
it still finds me.
it's around every corner,
hunting the weakest link.
i am the weakest.
it preys and feeds on me.
it catches me every time,
when i'm least expecting it.
silence is a melancholy bitch,
and she knows it.
and she loves knowing it.
