Two years had passed since the Sorting ceremony. Nadine, Harry, Ron and Hermione become best friends since the time, Hermione and Nadine had taken the blame and lied that they knew how to take on a troll.

The four of them stopped Quirrel from stealing The Philosophers stone in their first year.

In second year, the whispers that Nadine was hearing turned into voices. It became so unbearable that she broke down in the middle of the Great Hall clutching her head in her hands.

Dumbledore informed Nadine that she was a Legillimence, a person with the ability to read minds and she remembered the sorting hat telling her about it. In Nadine's case she was born with it. Nadine won't need eye contact to read a person's ongoing thoughts. But she would need it to clearly read a person's mind. Dumbledore took it upon himself to teach her how to block others voices out of her head and focus on important things for time beings. He told Nadine that when she would turn 14, her skills would become more sharper. She would be able to focus and read a single individual's mind.

*****************

Nadine, Harry and Ron were standing inside The Chamber Of Secrets with a very scared and reluctant Gilderoy Lockhart. That night Ginny Weasley had been taken inside The Chamber of Secrets. Harry, Nadine and Ron had found a piece of paper in Hermione's hand, who was petrified which told them that the monster was a Basilisk. They had thought a lot about it and come to the conclusion that entrance to the chamber was Moaning Myrtle's bathroom. That night Gilderoy Lockhart was going to go inside the Chamber of Secrets to rescue Ginny.
Soon they had found out that Lockhart was trying to run away so the kids had dragged him with them to the bathroom and towards the entrance of the chamber.

"Remember, any sign of movement close you eyes right away"

But the tunnel was quiet as the grave, and the first unexpected sound they heard was a loud crunch as Ron stepped on what turned out to be a rat’s skull. Harry lowered his wand to look at the floor and saw that it was littered with small animal bones.

Ron, Nadine and Harry had their wand tips lit up.

"There's something up there - Nadine - Harry" Ron said in a low voice. He had caught hold of Harry and Nadine's shoulders.

"The Basilisk has shed it's skin. It must be twenty feet long" said Nadine astonished.

There was a sudden movement behind them. Gilderoy Lockhart’s knees had given way.

"Get up" said Ron sharply, pointing his wand at Lockhart.

Lockhart stood up and snatched Ron's wand out of his hand.

"The adventure ends here, boys!" he said. "I shall take a bit of this skin back up to the school, tell them I was too late to save the girl, and that you two tragically lost your minds at the sight of her mangled body — say good-bye to your memories!"

He raised Ron’s Spellotaped wand high over his head and yelled, "Obliviate!"

The wand exploded with the force of a small bomb. The tunnel ceiling started rumbling and suddenly huge boulders were thundering upon them. Nadine was panicking but selflessness took over panick. Nadine pushed Harry out of the way and within seconds she was swiftly pulled back by Ron.

Nadine and Ron were now facing a solid wall made out of rocks. Nadine realized that Harry was on the other side.

"Ron! Nadine!" Harry was shouting. "Are you alright?"

"We're alright but this git isn't though" said Ron.

"Harry! Are you alright? Are you hurt?" asked Nadine, her voice cracking.

"I'm fine, Nadine" came Harry voice.

"What do we do now?" asked Ron.

"You wait here. Both of you. Wait with Lockhart. If I don't come back in an hour........"

There was a very pregnant pause.

"We'll try and shift some of this rocks Harry" said Nadine.

"So you can come back - so you can get back through." Ron completed

"And Harry be carful." Said Nadine.

"See you in a bit." Said Harry voice shaking.

Nadine and Ron tried to shift some of the rocks but it wasn't the easiest thing to do. Within minutes they were panting and gasping for breath. Lockhart came to his senses after some time and started blabbering and fell asleep on the floor.

"What do you think is happening inside? Do you think he found Ginny?" Nadine asked.

"And what about the Basilisk? Do you think Ginny is alive?" Ron asked looking close to tears. Now Nadine felt guilty. She didn't wanted Ron to cry. He was like a brother to her and she understood where he was coming from. Nadine rested her head on Ron's shoulder and just sat there waiting for Harry.

"Maybe we should try again" said Ron clearly trying to avoid the painful thoughts. Both of them got to their feet and tried shifting the rocks.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Meanwhile inside the chambers, Tom Riddle had picked up Harry's wand with sinister intentions.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ron and Nadine were coated in sweat from pushing the rocks. The rocks were as big as boulders. Nadine's mind was suddenly filling up with horrible 'what-ifs'. The stress was building inside her. She was thinking about all the worst possible things that could go wrong. Her panick had skyrocketed now.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Basilisk had finally came out of the statue.
"Kill him" hissed Tom Riddle in Parseltounge.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Something erupted inside Nadine. Something was happening inside her
She could feel it. Nadine felt a sudden urge to do magic. It felt as if every fibre in her being was begging her do magic. She tried to ignore the feeling, resist the urge and tried to distract herself by pushing the rocks. Nadine couldn't bare it anymore. Even her Elemental Magic had never behaved this way. She pulled her wand out of her robes but didn't know what to do. Suddenly she was whipping her wand in the air and sparks were coming out of it of every color. Red, Orange, Blue, Purple. Nadine was confused herself. She wasn't saying any spells. The look on Ron's face was a mixture of shock and amusement.

One sparks of light connected with a rock and it started melting as if it was nothing. An idea popped up in Nadine's mind. She pointed her wand towards the wall made of rocks and they were melting as soon as the sparks touched the rocks.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Harry felt a searing pain just above his elbow. One long, poisonous fang was sinking deeper and deeper into his arm and it splintered as the basilisk keeled over sideways and fell, twitching, to the floor.
Harry slid down the wall. He gripped the fang that was spreading poison through his body and wrenched it out of his arm. But he knew it was too late. White-hot pain was spreading slowly and steadily from the wound. Even as he dropped the fang and watched his own blood soaking his robes, his vision went foggy. The Chamber was dissolving in a whirl of dull color.
A patch of scarlet swam past, and Harry heard a soft clatter of claws beside him.
"Fawkes,"said Harry thickly. "You were fantastic, Fawkes. …" He felt the bird lay its beautiful head on the spot where the serpent’s fang had pierced him.
Harry could see the Fawkes' tears falling on the wound where the Basilisk fang had pierced his skin. The pain was slowly leaving him but instead of everything going dark the chamber was coming back into focus. He looked at his hand but there was no wound. It all made sense to Harry now. Dumbledore had said it himself that Phoenix tears were able to heal wounds.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Nadine was still lashing out her magic. Her emotions were running berserk along with her magic. Amidst all the chaos that was happening in her mind her thoughts were directed towards the raven haired boy who was fighting against Tom Riddle inside the Chambers. Was Harry safe? Was he hurt? Had the Basilisk harmed him? Nadine was slouching against the side of the tunnel gasping for breath. Lockhart was snoring in the background.

And all at once it stopped. Nadine wanted to be happy that it had stopped but she couldn't. She was feeling sad, empty, useless all at once, which was quite unexplainable.

And all of a sudden another emotion took over. Excitement. Happiness. What was happening to her? What was the reason for these weird mood swings? She wondered. She was smiling now for reasons unknown to herself.

"Nadine! Are you alright? Are you in pain? Are you hurt?" Ron was shaking her. His voice was cracking.

"I'm fine Ron. I'm feel better now" said Nadine, reassuring Ron.

A huge hole was created in the wall of rocks because of the odd behavior of Nadine's magic.

"Ron, can you promise me something?" said Nadine's nervously.

" 'course,  what is it?" Ron asked.

"Would you please not mention this to anyone? You know, what happened with my magic because I'm feeling better now. Please Ron" Nadine was pleading. She knew Ron was worried sick about what happened but she didn't wanted to tell anyone yet.

"Alright. I promise I won't." Ron said. He always understood her better.

"Ron! Nadine! Ginny's okay I've got her" They heard Harry's voice from the other side. Ron gave a loud cheer.

"How did you managed to make such a big hole?" said Harry.

"Nadine's bloody good at transfiguration mate. She's a genius". lied Ron. Nadine knew Ron had managed to convince Harry.

Ron pulled Ginny through the hole. The Phoenix came soaring in and then Harry stepped in.

As soon as Harry stepped in, Ron had bombarded him with questions about Fawkes and the sword. Harry looked towards Nadine who quickly eyed the sword, sorting hat and Fawkes. She didn't even regard those things instead she was looking at Harry. She frowned upon seeing his bloody forhead but there was proud look etched on her face which made Harry even more happy.

"You're alright. Oh Harry! We were worried about you" said Nadine. She gave Harry a quick hug. Nadine looked at the little red headed girl who was sobbing hard. She pulled Ginny into a tight and warm hug. Within seconds Ginny was hugging Nadine's torso and sobbing more loudly and babbling about being expelled. Nadine had no idea what Ginny was going on about but she comforted the little girl.

"It's alright Ginny. Your alright. No one's going to expel you."

Ron and Nadine told Harry about Lockhart’s memory charm backfiring, who was asking idiotic things. Ginny had taken a tight hold of Nadine's hand. Soon they were soaring out of the tunnel by holding Fawkes the Phoenix's tail. They reached Moaning Myrtle's bathroom and went towards Professor McGonagall's office.

That evening Harry, Nadine and Ron told Professor Dumbledore everything. Nadine was amazed and proud of Harry after hearing what had taken place inside the Chamber of Secrets.

The three friends were over the moon to see their petrified best friend Hermione cured. Exams were cancelled at the last moment. Hermione was sad about it though. When Neville found out what had happened, he had begun fussing over his sister, repeatedly asking her if she was alright. That made Nadine's heart swell.

Nadine had been to several Hogwarts feasts, but never one quite like this. Everybody was in their pajamas, and the celebration lasted all night. Nadine didn’t know whether the best bit was Hermione running toward them, screaming "You solved it! You solved it!" or Justin hurrying over from the Hufflepuff table to wring Harry's hand and apologize endlessly for suspecting him, or Hagrid turning up at half past three, cuffing Harry and Ron so hard on the shoulders that they were knocked into their plates of trifle which had Nadine giggling, or her, Harry's and Ron’s six hundred points for Gryffindor securing the House Cup for the second year running, or Professor McGonagall standing up to tell them all that the exams had been canceled as a school treat ("Oh, no!" said Hermione), or Dumbledore announcing that, unfortunately, Professor Lockhart would unable to return next year, owing to the fact that he needed to go away and get his memory back. Quite a few of the teachers joined in the cheering that greeted this news.

No matter how the year had ended, Nadine was happy to have Harry, Ron, Hermione and Neville by her side.
