"Chris and I grew up so fast, we kind of missed out on well. . everything."
AMAYA ROGERS STOOD in the room that their group has used for sparring and 'fighting' with each other in the safe house she's been staying in with her parents, brother, Natasha, Wanda and Sam for the last couple months. She was tired of hiding though. She grew up so fast, she never got to experience normal things. She wanted to ask her parents if they would be willing to let her live with Tony and attend high school, like a normal person. She knows how to keep her powers in control, and no one would really know who she is.
She just didn't have the courage to ask.
"I'm sure they won't tell you no." Natasha said, as Amaya blocked her punch before sweeping her legs and pinning her down on the ground.
"But, we're fugitives Aunt Nat. . how am I supposed to try and go to school like a normal person?" Amaya asked. Natasha broke the girl's pin and they both stood up. Amaya threw a punch, and when Natasha went to block it, Amaya used her powers to stop her. Her blue energy was wrapped around her hands and she held them there.
"Not fair." Natasha said.
"I'm serious, Aunt Nat. I know I chose this. . but it's not fair that all of us have to live like this." Amaya said, dropping her powers from Natasha's hands, and she sighed. Natasha could tell that Amaya was a little distressed, so she sighed as well.
"Look, Maya. Your mom and I are no strangers to being fugitives on the outside of the law, but I know you're not used to that. Talk to them, they can call Tony, probably get you set up in New York and you can try to live normally. The media doesn't know yours and Christian's faces like they know the rest of ours. Since you fight with a bandana over your mouth and Christian can make himself invisible. You should be okay." Natasha said, and Amaya nodded her head.
"Thanks, Aunt Nat. . sorry I cheated." She said, and Natasha shook her head.
"Using your powers isn't cheating, that's what you have them for. I was just teasing when I said no fair." She said, which made Amaya smiled, before she wrapped her arms around her and gave her a hug, which Natasha happily returned.
"I love you, Aunt Nat." She said, and Natasha gently touched her head, running her fingers down through her hair.
"I love you too, kiddo."

"Mom, Dad. . can I talk to you for a second?" Amaya asked her parents.
She found the two of them sitting in the kitchen. They both had cups of coffee, they weren't talking to each other, but Amaya could tell that they had just talked, or they were talking, or fighting. She noticed the tension between the two of them. Her mother cleared her throat before nodding her head.
She knew they had a talk, but you could still sense some of the awkwardness.
"Of course, baby girl. Is everything okay?" Katherine asked. Steve gestured for her to sit down at the table with him, which she did before she looked at both of them.
"Is everything okay?" She asked, looking between the two of them. Katherine and Steve both looked at each other, before looking back at their daughter.
"Yes, everything is fine. What's going on?" Steve asked.
"Look. . I know we're supposed to be, laying low, and I don't regret choosing your side, but I was wondering if maybe. . I could go to New York? Live with Uncle Tony and Aunt Pepper. . maybe go to school?" Amaya asked, not sure how they could receive her question.
"Maya. . I don't know if that's a good ide. .-" She cut her off.
". .-Mom, please. You all have your own thing. I just want something that's mine. Christian and Wanda travel together. Aunt Nic left to find Uncle Thor and I hope she did. You two, Aunt Nat, and Uncle Sam still save people on the low, and I love being in the field, harnessing my powers, growing in them, helping. . but you know, Chris and I grew up so fast, literally, we kind of missed out on well. . everything." Amaya said. Katherine frowned, knowing this isn't the life she wanted for her daughter.
"Let Mom and I talk about it, okay?" Steve said. Amaya nodded her head before getting up from the table and leaving her parents to talk by themselves. Katherine looked over at her husband.
"It's too risky." Katherine said.
"But she's right. We know she is. Experimentation, on both of us. Accelerated their growing, it gave them powers, they didn't get to grow up like normal children. If high school is something she really wants to do, maybe we should let her." Steve said.
"We're fugitives, Steve. . if she gets found out, she'll get arrested." Katherine said.
"Not if we let her be with Tony. He would never let that happen." Steve said. Katherine sighed. She knew Tony would always look after her, but she was scared.
"I'll call him." She said. She grabbed the phone that had the number Steve programmed into into the phone he had given Tony in his letter. She dialed his number and waited to see if he would answer, and after a few rings, he did.
"Katherine. . is everything okay?" Tony asked once he answered the phone.
"Yeah. . um, actually. I have a question." Katherine said.
"What's going on?" Tony asked.
"Amaya just asked Steve and I. . if she could come live with you and possibly go to school. . like a normal teenager. I think it's risky, but. . I don't know, T. We won't send her if you don't think you can handle it." She said.
"Actually. . her and Christian aren't as known as the rest of us are. . I could probably arrange something. Pepper would love to have her around, so would I. You trust me?" He asked.
"Of course I do. I know you'd never let anything happen to her. I just want my daughter to be happy, Anthony. I can tell she's not happy being stuck here." Katherine said.
"Then of course she can come stay with me. I'll enroll her in school, and we'll keep her safe. You have my word. Are you guys. . somewhere safe? You doing okay?" He asked.
"Yeah. . we're okay." Katherine said.
"Are you and Steve okay? I know it was a pretty brutal fight, and the last time we talked, you were still. . playing the blame game with yourself." Tony said. Katherine sighed, looking at her husband who was seated right next to her, and she sighed. She reached over and grabbed Steve's hand, and Steve was a little suprised, but he grabbed her hand, and squeezed it, before bringing her knuckles up to his mouth and kissed over her knuckles.
"Yeah. . we will be. Um. . just tell me where to meet and I'll tell Amaya to pack." Katherine said.
"Tell her to pack, but I'll come out to you. It'll be safer that way." He said.
"Okay, I'll let you know where to land." She said.
"Alright, see you soon. I love you." Tony said to her, which made her smile.
"I love you too, T." She said, and when they hung up the phone. Katherine called for Amaya to come back in the room. Once she did, she looked nervous while looking between her parents. She didn't eavesdrop, because she was scared about what she might hear.
"Yes?" Amaya asked.
"Go pack. Uncle Tony will be here tomorrow." Katherine said. Steve and Katherine watched as their daughter's face lit up, as she realized they were going to let her go and try and be somewhat normal.
"Really?" She asked, and Steve nodded his head.
"Yes, princess. We just want you to be happy." Steve said. Amaya squealed with delight before walking over to her parents and wrapping them both in a hug. Steve kissed her forehead, while they both wrapped their arms around their daughter.
"Oh thank you! Thank you so much! I love you guys." She said.
"We love you too."
