"How are you here?! I killed you!" I shouted to Dante, but still felt slightly bad about shouting because I'm looking at Seth. It's not Seth though. It's Dante! I kissed Dante! How the hell did this happen?!

"Don't you get if Lipgloss? You have the same amount of feelings for my as you do for Seth. Your hatred towards me has brought me back."

I don't understand I thought Marc said that because I was sacrificing Dante he couldn't come back. Of course! Why was I so dumb as to believe that jerk?

"MARC!" I yelled walking right outside the door as I realized he was no longer in the room.

I finally spotted him in the dining room with, where he was chatting with my father.

"Hello Marie."

"Shut up!" I yelled at my father.

Marc snickered at the remark. My blood pumps harder as I think about how good it would feel to punch that grin right off his stupid face.

"You jerk! You told me he wouldn't come back!"

"And you were dumb enough to believe me! His voice all confident and teasingly made me even more mad. I wanted to kill him. Human or not he deserved to DIE!

"I HATE YOU!" I yelled running at him with one goal in mind.

I don't know what the hell I was thinking though because of course, Marc did some spell causing me to fall to my knees and wince in pain. I felt like I just got stabbed in the chest with a huge knife. I feel so weak and am growing weaker and weaker. I feel even more frail then I did when Dante first bit me. I finally lost consciousness and went into darkness.

As I began coming back to the land of the living I realized I was now laying on the couch next to the dining room. I try to move but every muscle in my body protests.

"You never learn do you?" Marc said walking in the room just enough to lean on the wall.

"What did you do to me." I demanded weakly.

"Oh it's just a simple yet painful spell. I stripped you of any power you have including your slayer strength...temporarily."

So not only do I feel weak, but I am... temporarily. How long exactly is temporary though?

"Lipgloss, you are so stupid." Seeing Seth, but knowing it's Dante is still really heartbreaking. All I wanted was for Seth to be here with me. The one who has my heart, how am I going to live with Seth's face here, but his soul away.

I quickly turn my face away from Dante. Every time I see him, it reminds me how much I messed things up.

"What? You can't face me?" He said moving into my line of sight. "I don't bite." he said while ironically showing me his fangs.

Screw the pain I can't sit here anymore. I got up and tried hard not to show the immense pain I was in. It felt like stepping on really long sharp nails.

"Lipgloss you shouldn't be able to move!" Marc said in amazement.

"Well I am." I told him.

I walked towards the door, but my brother stepped in my way.

"Move." I ordered.

"You're not leaving." He stated crossing his arms.

"Why? What could you guys possibly want from me? Dante is alive... more or less. So what?!" I yelled at him.

"You're a threat to EVERYTHING. A stupid human took down the strongest vampire. That's not something that is just forgotten." My brother hissed at me.

"Then kill me." I told him.

"Too easily. Why kill you when we can draw your punishment out and have fun with it?" Hunter whispered in my ear.

"Make your move. Nicholas and Trollhella will be back in a couple of days." I told him.

We stared at each other for a long moment before someone broke the tension.

"Simmer down you two. Oh and Nicholas and Trollhella are being taken care of."

"What?!" I yelled at Dante. "There's no way."

There's no way he could do this to his brother. What am I thinking? Nicholas gave up hope for Dante a long time ago. Whatever happened to the brother he used to love?

"You liked to think so wouldn't you? They are doomed though." He told me.

Dante might think they're doomed, but not if I have anything I can do about it. They're the only people I have left. I'm not just going to stay here while they drive to their doom. What can I do though? I'm surrounded by vampires and a very powerful annoying witch. If I tried to get out there's no way I actually would. Maybe I can just steal one of their phones! The question now is, who is the most vulnerable one?

"Hey Dad! Can I talk to you outside?" I yelled.

If anyone is vulnerable it's my dad, so desperate for my approval and love. Should be easy enough.

"Sure Marie." His face was kind as he walked to the front door, but Hunter didn't move, only stood there standing his ground.

"Hunter it's okay, I'm a vampire and she's a weak human-"

"Whom I'm still amazed is moving." Marc said annoyed with his arms crossed.

"Com'on Marie let's go." My father said as Hunter backed down, removing himself from the path of the door.

I followed my dad out the door and we walked in silence for a while, I wasn't sure what to say at first.

"Tell me about mom. Am I like her?" I finally asked.

At first my dad just started at me, but then he spoke. "You and your mother were both slayers, she believed the world was meant to be good and she wanted to help make it good."

She reminded me of my other mother, the way my father describes her, wise and pure hearted. He sounds like he really loved her, but if he did why turn into what my mother hated? "Why did you turn?"

"After the loss of your mother, your brother and I were consumed by our heartbreak. We decided we couldn't raise you, so we gave you up and looked for someone to turn us."

"But why?" He still didn't answer my question of why turn when my mother hated vampires.

"When you first turn you are tested by your actions. If you choose to stay true to who you are, you do. If you don't all the stuff you were sad about, the guilt, the loss, you no longer have to feel sad anymore, you lose that part of you. You remember it all, but it's like it happened forever ago and no longer matter."

"So what you're saying is my mother no longer matters to you?"

He looked hurt by my words, but finally spoke while looking at the ground. "Some vampires choose to leave their human life and never think about it, but I loved your mother and still do. No matter how hard I try I just can't get her off my mind."

So no matter how hard my dad might have tried he couldn't forget about being human. Love is so powerful.

"What would happen if a vampire did leave his human life forever?"

"Well...they would be a true monster with no humanity."

"How can you get it back?" I pushed.

"With a spell I would assume. Why?" He asked squinting his eyes in suspicion.

"No reason I was just wondering." I paused. "Dad?"

"Marie?"

"Are you proud to call me your daughter?" I asked looking deep into his dark eyes.

"Of course. What made you even think I wouldn't be? You grew up to be just like your mother. I couldn't be prouder." He said his eyes filling with tears.

Here's my change. I hugged him tightly and reached into his jacket pocket, grabbing his phone.

"I'm sorry." My dad whispered.

"For what?" I asked pulling away so I could look at him.

"Leaving you and letting you be involved in all of this."

"I choose this. It's not your fault." I assured him.

We broke the hug and I tucked the phone into a secret pocket in my jacket, but not before turning it off. Wouldn't want his phone to go off. All of the sudden, my will to fight the pain left and I fell to the ground.

"Marie!" My father said getting to my side. He picked me up and carried me back to the house.
