Chapter 8
“Darling, did you and Luke had a fight?” muntik na ako mabilaukan sa tanong ni Mommy. Pati si Daddy, napatingin sa akin at napatigil sa kinakain niya. And hindi lang pumapansin sa akin ay ang kapatid ko na may sariling mundo kaya tuloy tuloy lang sa pagkain.
“No Mom.” Tipid kong sagot para matigil na ang usapan.
“So, why aren’t you facing Luke for a week now?” Nakakainis naman si Mommy! Kailangan ba talagang sa harap ni Daddy niya itanong yun?
“Really?” Tuluyan ng binitiwan ni Daddy ang hawak niyang spoon and fork at tumingin sa akin.
“It’s nothing Dad.” Nagmamaktol ko pang sabi. Bwisit! Kasalanan to ng Lucas na to. Bakit kasi kailangan pa siyang pumunta sa bahay namin. Hindi pa ba siya nagsasawa na hidni ko na nga sinasagot ang mga text at messages niya, pati ba naman sa bahay guguluhin pa niya ako?
“If it’s nothing darling, that poor guy wouldn’t come here almost everyday and beg you to talk to him.” Sabi pa ni Mommy.
“Why aren’t you talking to him Lorraine?” Shit! Daddy is using my full name again. I gave Mom a meaningful look na parang sinasabing wag na siyang magsalita but she merely raise her eyebrows at me.
“Mom! He is not begging me to talk to him. Nag iinarte lang siya okay! Ginagaw aniya yun para magkabati kami but I won’t forgive him this time.” I burst out.
“So nag away nga kayo.” My Dad concluded.
“We didn’t fight. I juts got mad at him.” Mahina kong sabi. Totoo naman eh. Pagkatapos niyang sabihin yun, hindi ko na siya kinausap. Kakabadtrip kasi eh. He really think I’m that stupid para maniwala sa sinasabi niya?
“Why did you get mad at him?” Mom further proved at mukhang curious na curious sa kwentong barbero ni Luke JoPierre Cariño.
“I got mad at him because he told me that he love me.” Napatulala sina Mommy at Daddy at saglit na hindi nakapagsalita. Tapos nagtinginan silang dalawa and smiled at each other. Creepy. Everytime they do that, nananayo ang balahibo ko.
“Why would you get mad at him if he tells you that he loves you?” Tanong pa ni Mommy na parang hidni niya kilala si Lucas.
“Because she is a weirdo and she would naturally act differently.” Biglang sagot ng kapatid kong my sariling mundo. I looked at him sharply pero kumakain pa din siya.
“Shut up! You are not even included in this conversation” Sabi ko sabay siba sa paa niya sa ilalim ng kama.
“Lorraine! I won’t tolerate you talking like that to your brother.” Sabi ni Daddy. Tumingin siya, sa akin ngumisi at binilatan ako. Kakabwisit. Bakt hindi na lang siya bumalik sa sarili niyang mundo?
“And you too, Kriztian.” Ngumiti din ako sa kanya at binilatan din siya. Akala niya siguro ako lang ang pagagalitan. Asa naman siya. Pero at least naiwas ang topic kay Lucas.
“At bakit ka nga ulit nagalit nung sinabihan ka ni JP ng I love you?” I almost rolled my eyes. Akala ko nakalimutan na.
“Dad, he didn’t say those 3 words to me verbatim. He said something like..’no, I won’t even tell you that I love you’. That what he exactly said. And I got mad at him because he is toying with my feelings. Hindi kesyo, no one courts me at wala pa din akong boyfriend eh aakto na siyang ganun.” Tumitingin alng si Mommy at si Daddy sa akin na parang inaanalyze ang mga sinabi ko.
“What if he really loves you?” Dad asked me seriously.
“Daddy, I know that he is not serious. One, Luke is never serious with girls. Two, He loves toying with me. Third, He said he always loves girls. Fourth, I am his bestfriend. Fifth, I saw him embracing a girl in front of our school one time. Sixth, He brought a girl one time when we went to the mall. Seventh, he is rumored to have a girlfriend in his school. Eight, I saw him kissing a girl when I took my entrance exam at their school. Nine, They are all different girls. Ten, He..”
“That’s quite a long list Rayne.” Nakangiting sabi ni Daddy.
“Exactly! And I am not even halfway. That’s why I get mad when he said those words to me because maybe he thinks na maniniwala na lang ako basta basta. Ginagawa niya akong tanga!” And now that I’ve told them its very deliberating and I didn’t want to stop at gusto kong sabihin ang lahat ng hinanakit ko sa so-called bestfriend ko.
“At ang nakakainis pa Dad, Mom, he stole my first kiss! How dare him! Nakareserve na yun sa magiging first boyfriend ko but he stole it just like that. Ohhh, he is so irritating, I wanna kick him. And after he kissed me, it’s as if it was nothing to him!” Feeling ko namumula na ang pisngi ko dahil sa galit. But it felt good to have actually vent it out.
“Darling, what are you really mad at? Are you mad because JP told you that he loves you or the thought that he doesn’t mean what he said?” Napatingin ako bigla kay Mommy. What is she talking about? Me? Mad that Luke doesn’t mean what he said? So I am hoping that it was true and I am mad because because it’s not true?
Anong pinagsasabi nila?
“Mom, how could Rayne know that if she doesn’t even know that the reason why not a single guy come near her at school was because Luke and his varsity friends are bullying every guy that shows interest on her? She’s even clueless about Operation Ulan that’s been going on for 2 years. Tsk tsk.” Nanlalaki ang mga mata ko habang nakatingin kay Kriztian na kumakain pa din.
“WHAATTTT!”
