Lena was seconds away from turning all wolf on the bitch. She walked over around the table and tapped Julia's shoulder. Both Darien and Julia looked up at her. Lena gave them a stiff smile, “I was planning on sitting there.”

She turned in her seat to look up at Lena and gave her a smile, “Oh were you? Well Lena darling, there is another seat next to him.”

“I know," Lena said, giving her a hateful look. “But I wanted that one.”

Julia chuckled, “Well to bad, sweetheart. Actually before you rudely interrupted us, Darien and I were having a wonderful conversation.”

“Well that’s too bad," Lena said. “Because I was hoping for the same thing.” Lena had temporarily forgotten all about Becca.

“Well that’s too bad—”

“Well, why don't you stop starting every sentence with ‘well?” she growled, saying ‘well’ in a preppy voice that sounded close to Julia’s.

Julia glared at her and didn’t move. When she didn’t move an inch, Lena glared more dangerously at her, trying to keep her wolf from coming out and attacking her. Her wolf would probably feel no regret—but she isn’t the one who would get in trouble. Lena walked over to the other side of Darien sat down next to him and Becca sat next to her. Darien suddenly looked uncomfortable even though he was trying to hide it.

“I would actually like to be alone," Darien said.

“Ha!” both girls said

“By myself, I meant," he added.

Both girls looked at him in shock—Lena couldn’t believe he had just said that to her! Her own mate didn’t want her to sit with him? Now she was pissed her off even more than before!

Lena turned in her seat and started to eat her food angrily. She was not going to leave—letting her mate be around that slut alone is not going to happen. Not today and not ever!

Lena watched Darien at his locker as she quickly packed her stuff and put her Aviators on. She saw him put on his black leather jacket, grab his binder, and close the locker door.

She cursed to herself and hurried along, throwing the things she needed in her bag and closing her locker. Thankfully, she was quick enough to catch up with him as he turned the corner down the hall. She quickly looped an arm around his and said, “Boo! Hope I scared ya!” she said in a cheery tone. She couldn’t stay mad with him. He was too cute.

She didn’t scare him. “Whatcha want, Sunshine? Don’t you have something else to do other than bother me?”

“Nope, not today," she said. “So, Wolverine, what do you want to do today? I have to babysit at seven thirty, but we can do something until then.”

“I rather go home and sleep," he said. “I didn’t sleep too much last night.”

“And why’s that?”

“Why are you asking so much?”

“Because.”

“Why?”

“Because, like I said," she said. “But hey, you don’t have to answer me. How about I come over to your place? My house is a few miles out of town, so let not go there. And since Nash is a very small town, yours sounds fine.”

“I rather you not," he said. “I don’t feel like having your Sunshine ass know where I live so you can stalk me.”

“I would find you some way or another," she said, winking up at him.

He stopped them walking and took his arm out hers, “Look, your friend Becky or whatever her name was pestering me in my last two classes. I would just like to go home and go to sleep.”

“Becca?” she questioned. What was Becca doing talking with Darien and what were they talking about? “What was she saying?”

“I don’t know," he said, annoyed. He ran his hand through his silky brown hair; an action Lena wanted so badly to do with her own fingers. “Something about a movie and Friday. I don’t know, I wasn’t even listening when she wasn’t touching me.”

Lena lips tighten at the thought of her best friend asking Darien out to the movies! And touching him!? She should have been able to smell Becca's perfume the moment she came near Darien, but she was so excited to see him she didn’t realize until now.

“Well how about we don’t talk. Just watch a movie," she said. “You can pick.”

“How do you know I have a DVD player or any movies to watch?” he questioned.

“Well it would be lucky if you do have a DVD player because there's a Redbox at the Seven Eleven," she said.

“You need a card for those," he said.

“Which I have," she said. “My dad gave me one for emergencies."

“I don’t think a sale going on at the mall is an emergency," he sarcastically said.

Lena stopped walking and crossed her arms over her chest, “It’s limited, fifty dollars only. I am very responsible and don’t spend my money on pointless stuff. And I’m not some spoiled rich brat.”

“Sure you're not," Darien sarcastically said and began walking again.

She caught up to him, “You don’t even know me that well.”

“And you don’t know me that well," he said. “And you never well, so just leave me alone, Sunshine.”

She was beginning to get pissed at his behavior towards her. Her wolf took over as she grabbed his jacket and pushed him against the wall, “Look here, Wolverine, this attitude of yours is getting on my last nerve and it’s only been two days.”

He looked at her as if she has something on her face, “How the hell are you that strong?” he said in disbelief. “You probably weigh no more than 130 pounds, and that's soaking wet.”

“I grew up with five older brothers, you tend to learn some things from them," she said. She let go of him and stood up on her tip toes to be face to face with Darien, “We’re going to hang out at your place and this time, no fights.”

“Why is this so important to you?” he asked.

She stepped back down, taking a deep breath. She couldn’t tell him yet; he wouldn’t believe her and he'd think she was crazy until she showed him and when she does show him, God only knows what could happen. They both need to trust each other first to know he’ll keep the secret.

“It just is," she said.

After a few moment of them just looking at each other, Darien sighed, “Damnit, okay, fine, whatever.”

~_~_~

Lena stepped into Darien's apartment. There wasn’t much. A small carpet under a couch, a coffee table, another table a few feet away and a stereo across the room. The kitchen and dining room were together and it looked a little messy.

Lena set her bag down near the door with the DVD in her hand, “I don’t see a DVD player," she said, looking around near the TV.

A door then flew open and a guy walked out towards them, “Darien, we’re going to talk—oh!” he said when he realized a girl was here.

Darien scratched his chin and cleared his throat, “Ash, this is Lena Russo. Lena, this is my cousin, Ash Snow.”

Lena smiled and held her hand out to him, “Nice to meet ya.”

Ash chuckled, “Cheery one she is," he said, putting his hand in hers and shaking it. “Just like the other Russo’s. I knew your brother Skyler in school.”

You did?” she asked. “Were you two friends? He didn’t mention anyone name Ash—or maybe he did and I wasn’t paying attention. I tend to get distracted something with simple—I’m babbling now.” She blushed and pushed her hair behind her ears.

He chuckled more, “It’s okay. And no, we weren’t friends. I was—different back then. I was kind of nerd and he saved me a few times from those asses he called friends.”

“Oh, you don’t seem like you would have been a nerd," she said, looking him over. He was pretty toned and muscular. Handsome even.

“Well that’s why they invented gyms," he said. It was quite for a few moment before he cleared his throat, “Well, we'll talk later about it.”

Oh, don’t let me interrupt anything important.” Lena said. “I can wait outside or—”

“You're definitely a Russo," he said. “No, no, it’s okay. I should be leaving anyways to go meet up with this girl. I was just waiting to make sure this troublemaker got home.”

“Oh, well have fun," she said. Ash walked around her and grabbed his jacket before leaving. Her eyebrows came together, “Is it just you and him here?”

“Yeah," Darien said, walking over to the fridge and grabbed something. It looked like a carton of Chinese food. “We don’t have much since Ash doesn’t really cook and orders fast food, so I hope you don’t mind day old Chinese lo mein.”

“Well since most of my brothers moved out, we have a lot of food in the house now lately, so no, I don’t mind," she said. “And I repeat, where is the DVD player?”

He put the lo mien in the microwave before answering her, “It’s in my bedroom," he said. Lena blushed up a little at the thought of being alone with a boy in his room. Her brothers always threatened her if they ever find out she was alone with a boy—in his room, they’ll go all wolf on the boy.

But this boy was different—he’s her mate and she can do whatever wants with him.

“I could bring it out here if you want," he said.

“No!” she said a little too quickly and blushed more. “I mean,” she tried to play it off cool by chuckling, but it sounded forced. “It’s okay, I don’t want to make you do all that work."

The microwave beeped and Darien grabbed the carton with two forks. He made his way over to another door and she followed behind him, a little nervous. Sure, nothing will happen. They won’t even kiss probably. But the fact of being alone with Darien—really alone, made her nervous and she couldn’t help but be happy.

They went into his room; it was pretty small. A good size for a twin side mattress, a dresser with a TV on top and a DVD player placed on top of it. A closet that was open with no hanged clothes, but Lena saw a pile laying on the floor. Enough room to walk around—but nothing compared to the size room Lena use to being in. If she phased, her wolf would take up three-fourths of this room.

Lena sat on the bed and traded with Darien for the lo mein. She sat on the bed a little too stiff and after he had putt in the DVD they'd chosen, he sat down on the floor next to her legs. She sat there awkwardly for a few second before sliding down next to him, holding the carton between them, giving him one of the forks.

They both at the same time dug their forks in and swirled it around. They lifted the forks up at the same time and brought their heads down to put the lo mein in their mouth. The piles dropped from their forks and their foreheads came together.

“Ahh!” they both said as Darien put his hand to his head and Lena put the lo mein down to hold hers. After a few seconds, they both couldn’t help but chuckle. This was another time Lena heard his laughter and she loved the sound of it.

He must have realized he was laughing because he stopped and cleared his throat, looking straight ahead at the TV, pressing play.
