I opened my eyes. I was in my bed on the hellicarrier, all the avengers came back to rest and prepare to leave after some damage control. Loki was in holding. We are watching Thor and Loki leave later but until then I have to stay here.
I was so sore from the battle, I have countless cuts, burns, and bruises. I already showered when I got back.
I stood up and brushed my hair, putting half of it up. I didn't care much to go out of my way to look perfect.
I got dressed and tucked my sunglasses into my pocket. I don't know what's going to happen after this. Will I stay at shield? Will I go with Steve? Who knows, I'm about to find out.
I packed the few items I had and left the bags on my bed, I'll get them later.
I opened my door and walked to where everyone was. Stark was back in New York so I'll see him later. Steve was out of his suit and in casual clothes. When I walked in he turned to me. "Time to talk." He sat down around the table in the command area. "Okay, what about?" I sat beside him. "Peggy took care of you?" He asked right away.
I smiled. "Yeah she did, she was a lovely mother figure, I was always taken care of, We had our moments when we fought but she always won. She taught me to fight back, to not give up." I looked at my lap. "If she never saved me I probably wouldn't be here." I muttered softly.
Steve inhaled. "Your birth mother." He understood where I was coming from. I looked up. "She wasn't a good person at all, I was only with her till I was almost five. She got married to a very mean man, he-" I paused and looked back at my lap. "He hurt me a lot, I didn't fight back because it would make him more mad, and Julienne, she never stopped him." I spoke in almost a whisper but he heard me.
Steve stood up and pulled me into a hug. I was hesitant at first but I accepted it. I never really had a fatherly hug like this. I started crying, but they weren't sad tears. Happy tears.
Steve pulled away and kneeled down and put his hand under my chin. "You're safe now." He whispered and wiped my tears. I smiled.
He stood up straight and pulled out some papers. "Take a look." He handed them to me.

I gave him a toothy smile and jumped up, wrapped my arms around his neck and hugged him with all my might. I have a father now. I'm not just a random girl walking around shield. I'm Hazel Grace Rogers
I handed back the papers to Steve. "Thank you, Dad." Steve tucked them back into his jacket. "We have to go to back New York, gather your things and meet me back here." He spoke.
"Of course." I smiled and turned towards back to my room feeling bubbly. I'm someone's daughter now.

I walked to my room with a smile on my face. But before I turned the handle to my door I heard a voice "Hazel." I turned around and Fury was stood there.
"Oh hey, I'm getting ready to head out." I smiled and opened my door.
He nodded. "I wanted to give you these." Fury pulled Phil's Captain America cards out of his pocket, not the bloody ones though. And handed them to me
"Oh thank you." I look at them all. "He was very proud of these cards." I looked back to fury.
"You know I wasn't surprised at all, when you told Steve." He spoke to me. "You are stubborn like your father."
"Peggy used to say that too, also I was hardheaded and too independent for my own good." I replied.
"You're a good kid Hazel." He patted my shoulder. "Don't forget how much you can do." He nodded to me and walked away.
I shrugged and yelled back "I forgive you!" And walked into my room.
(Start music now)
I stood there for a second, taking it all in. I went from being a scared abused little girl, to a confident well respectful and behaved young lady. To a confused angry and depressed girl who didn't fit in and had no family to actually being happy for once.
I'm happy I had Peggy to teach me how to be a badass young lady. I'm happy I had Colin to teach me to control my anger and fight when it was necessary. I'm happy I had Phil to make me smile and be my father figure when I didn't have one, and now I'm going on another adventure, with my real father. Who knows what I'll learn. But I know, if I was never thrown into that ice I probably would be an entirely different person and most likely would have never met my father.
I'm grateful for the journey.
I smiled to myself and grabbed the tiny suitcase I had and looked out my window one last time. Seeing the clouds and water beneath me, still uncomfortable about the water though.
I tucked the cards into the pocket of the suitcase and walked out.

The quinjet ride back to New York was very short. We landed and walked started walking to a park. I looked around truly taking in my surroundings. This place has really changed. I never really got a chance to look at the beauty during the fight.
We walked up to the area, shield agents were all around. Everyone was stood around when we walked up.
Selvig took a glass cylinder out of one of the trucks. Tony opened his case, which is on the ground. Banner held the Cube with some tongs and put it into the glass cylinder Selvig has. I looked over to my dad and he had an intense look on his face.
"The Tesseract is where belongs...out of our reach."
Thor smiled as he shook hands and says goodbye to Selvig. He looked over at me and gave me a smile as well as a wave. I waved back.
Loki is bound and gagged in the muzzle as he should be, he is mad. As he looks upon Natasha, she whispered something into Clint's ear that made him smile.
Thor held the cylinder that has the Tesseract in it. He gestured it to Loki, who grabbed one end of the cylinder and Thor had the other, he nodded to the us and twisted the device, which lit up and the two vanished into the sky as we all looked on.
I walked over and gave Natasha and Clint a hug, I really opened up since before. I'm not scared to show that I care anymore.
In front of Tony's new car, Steve and him shook hands. I walked over and Tony put his hand into a fist and we fist bumped, I think his ego is too big to give me a hug but at least I got something.
"I don't think you understand what you've started..."
Natasha took a duffel bag out of the backseat of a SHIELD car. She handed it to Banner as Barton headed to the driver's seat.
"...letting The Avengers loose on this world. They're dangerous."
Banner and Tony got into his new car and drove off. Steve walked over to a motorcycle. "Really? I walked up and looked at it.
"Come on, it's fun." He got on and waited for me. Yeah it's all fun until you fall off and break your neck. I rolled my eyes and got on, holding onto his shoulders.
"They surely are, and the whole world knows it."
Steve took off and I held on for dear life, but after a few seconds it wasn't so bad. I closed my eyes and felt the wind touch my face.
"Was that the point in all this? A statement."
"A promise."
