Nancy POV

...

"Fuck, that must've hurt," I whispered to myself.

At this very moment, I watched one person get an arrow to the back of their head and was disintegrated by some next weapon some girl found. Thankfully, I was hiding behind a huge pile of rubble and whoever the killer was mustn't have seen me.

Being in level 25 was no joke anymore...

You see, I honestly just woke up one day and I was living my life.

Until I died.

And woke up again.

But when I woke up, for some reason, I had a health bar in my vision, a backpack filled with a bunch of food and tools, and a whole new wardrobe dedicated to camo and black.

And that's when I realized.

Motherfucker, I don't know shit about combat games.

And well...

Yeah, I was living in a game.

Sometimes, I'd like to refer to my "life" as Battle Royale and Call of Duty on drugs. We level up whenever we find chests/rewards and kill, but I don't really know when this game all ends because I just keep on waking up.

The worst thing about this game is that when you're about to die, you feel the pain. When you wake up, it's a dull sore, but still-

"Surprise bitch," a gun jerked my head forward.

I rolled my eyes and all I muttered was,

"Fuck."

...

Hey again.

Now, I'm at the roof of some old building and in front of me, laid a knife, a pistol, and a shotgun.

Battling a small headache, but it's all good.

Using my bag, I stuff the weapons inside, leaving the knife out.

The reason why I'm in level 25 is because I'm a really good scouter - I don't kill unless I have to.

Through the debris and abandoned streets, I went from house to house looking for first aid kits, extra clothes, food, and obviously the chests.

When I turned into an alley way, I immediately spotted a dark figure finishing off their prey and I didn't think twice before hiding myself behind a huge waste deposit.

When I took a peak, I saw their eyes from afar - icy and emotionless.

Shit, they saw me.

Before I could run, I waited to make sure they were trailing me - but the thing was, I couldn't hear a thing.

After a few more seconds, I decided to take a peak out and-

"HOLY FUCK!"

The girl's face was dangerously close to my own with a knife piercing me deep in the gut.

Her head moved right to my ear and her freakishly seductive voice muttered, "You need to learn how to stay quiet sweetheart."

If the knife lodged into me wasn't there, I would've definitely been flustered as hell; but all I could think of was the pain slowly engulfing me.

When I coughed, blood spurted onto the ground and her shirt.

I would've cursed this bitch but I had no energy to even open my mouth.

When I looked into her eyes with relentlessness, what I saw in hers was...

Nothing.

But she kept on staring into me, as if she was trying to read me.

As if she found me amusing.

Until she finally said in a low and quiet voice, "I'll do you a favour and make it quick for you, how's that?"

Taken aback by her offer, I took back my tough act and nodded my head in shame.

I just wanted the pain to be over.

"Alright," she says.

And that was the last thing I heard before I woke up again.

...

After our first encounter, I've been seeing her - and getting killed by her - everywhere. Most of the time, she would still have that intimidating look, get me down and weak, and she'd always make my death quick. But each time she kills me, something changes with her.

I just don't know what it is.

And most of the players I've seen and been killed by leave their victims to bleed out - so in a way, I'm pretty grateful that she minimizes my suffering.

I honestly have tried to kill her before, but it's like she's untouchable.

Stop thinking about her Mcdonie! You gotta focus...

Right... focus...

I quietly crept through the forest under the night's spell by the city and stayed very close to large trees. I was super careful for the twigs under my feet and jumped at every crunch of leaves that echoed around me.

This time, I had a bow and arrow as my weapon.

I feel pretty bad ass.

Just then, I came across some freakish cabin that looks abandoned and I took a chance to go inside.

As soon as I got to the porch, the hairs at the back of my hands stood and I couldn't help but feel like someone was here. As quietly as I could, I turned the knob and instantly closed the door behind me with all the effort in the world to make sure I made no noise.

None of the lights were on and it did seem like the place was raided already.

I slung my bow across my shoulders - so the string was angled on my chest and the wood rested on my back - and took out my knife.

I slowly made my way through each room - nothing in the living room or the kitchen, the master bedroom and guest rooms were empty, and no one was in the bathroom.

But there was one room I haven't checked - the laundry room.

It was at the back of the cabin.

As soon as I got to the door, I immediately felt that something was off. And so, I swiftly opened the door and-

"You?"

To my complete surprise, I saw her.

My murderer.

Bleeding out.

A huge gash across her abdomen and wounds covering her legs.

A small, yet fluffy, kitten was resting beside her - completely unaffected by the fact that it was getting covered with her blood.

The girl who was laying practically lifeless on the floor looked at me with fear,

And it was the first time I saw something other than nothing in her eyes.

"P-please," She mustered out, "Just k-kill me now and get it over with."

The kitten meowed nonchalantly.

By seeing her on the ground, I felt like I had no power - even though I was the one who held the dagger in my hands.

Even though she did kill me... ALOT... I still couldn't get myself to lay a hand on her.

As quickly as I could, I closed the door behind me, laid down my bow and quiver, and fished out the first aid kit I managed to scavenge from a building I looted earlier.

"What are you doing?" She asks me in a hushed voice.

I then made my way to her side and noticed how pale she was; how her eyelids rested heavily upon her eyes, how the trail of blood on her face crusted, and how weak she truly was.

"I'm going to take your sweater and shirt off, alright? I'm going to check your wound," I told her.

Her body was frozen at the touch and she didn't move or flinch when I stripped her of her shirt.

"Why...?" She whispered in a ghostly voice.

I took another look into her eyes and I saw the pain washing her expression.

To hopefully distract her from any mental pain, I just smiled, "You're gonna be okay, just stay strong for me, alright?"

The gash wasn't critically deep - just a few stitches will do - but my concern was the amount of blood she lost. I gave her a pain killer so she wouldn't be completely tortured by what I'll have to do as well as water.

The kitten laid by the girl's side the whole time and thankfully, the girl stayed conscious the whole time.

Once I finished stitching and cleaning up some of the blood, I wrapped her up up with my only supply of bandages.

I even gave her a granola bar to eat because I could only imagine that something or someone that was able to do this to her must've depleted all the energy she had.

"Why are you helping me?"

I shook my head, "I don't kill, and I'm doing you a favour since you actually take the time to kill me fast."

She weakly chuckled at my comment, "I'm sorry."

I only shrugged, "It's alright, you gotta do what you gotta do to survive."

As we talked, the kitten purred while the girl caressed it's fur.

"Who's your little friend?" I asked to try and distract her from the pain she felt.

"She literally found me 10 minutes before you came, but I think I'll call her Leo."

I smiled at her comment, "And what should I call you? My murderer?"

A smile caught me off guard and if we were back in our own realities, I would've died because of that.

"Yeonwoo," she whispers hesitantly, "just call me Yeonwoo."

"Well, Yeonwoo," I started off, "I was able to stop the major bleeding and as long as you take it easy for a couple of days, you'll be fine."

She continued to share a small smile with me, "Thanks doc."

Even though she was completely vulnerable, I was so drawn to her and how she is when she's not the cold hearted person that constantly kills me.

"You should get some sleep now, you really need a lot of rest," I said before standing up.

As soon as I did, she tried sitting up and was able to grab onto my arm. I tried getting her to lay down again but she tried pulling me down to.

"Where are you going?" She worriedly asks.

"I was just going to get you clothes and maybe a pillow or something, is that alright?"

After I said that, her grip loosened and she relaxed.

I managed to get a button down shirt on her and I even cleaned the wounds on her legs and gave her clean pants. Even with a little scrounging around, I was able to get her a thick blanket, a few pillows, and even something for Leo.

With each accidental touch of Yeonwoo's skin, it began radiating warmth. A really good sign. I slowly glided the blanket over her body as she relaxed and cuddled with a pillow.

"You know, I still didn't get your name."

My eyes moved to look at hers, then my gaze danced around her face. She had a cute pair of lips, a slender face frame, cute eyes, and a charming beauty mark just under the corner of her left eye.

"It's Nancy."

"Will you be here when I wake up Nancy?"

This softened my heart and I couldn't help but comb my fingers through her hair to comfort her, "yes, I will be. Just sleep, okay?"

Her small smile grows wider and she says to me, "Okay, I'll see you soon."

As the night grew old, I began feeling extremely tired, but I didn't want anything to happen to any of us.

I kept my dagger to my chest and sat in front of the door to make sure no one could get in. While she slept, I couldn't take my eyes off of her - she snores softly and every once in a while, she would murmur in her sleep.

She was completely adorable.

But my eyes were giving up on me and in the corner of my eye that had my health bar, it alarmed me that I need the sleep for optimal performance.

With closed eyes, steady breathing, and my alleged murderer I am willing to protect, I hoped to whatever god is out there, that we'd be able to make it through another day.

...

Heya, this concept literally jumped on me when I was commuting from school so I wrote something quick.
