It had been a mere half an hour since my whole world came crashing down, but it felt like decades had passed.

My fingers repetitively tapped the dial button, trying desperately to get ahold of parents.

On about the 15th ring my mom was the one to pick up. "Jihye what's wrong? It's hard to find service right now-"

I cut her off. "Am I adopted?"

The line went quiet for a moment and her voice returned in a much more calculated manner. "Why would you be adopted? You came out of my vagina."

"The Sydney orphanage contacted me saying there was an error in my adoption form."

I rapidly blinked away my tears, clinging to the hope that maybe they had contacted the wrong Song Jihye, that she would laugh it off and tell me I was being stupid.

I heard her sigh, and I imagined the woman chewing on her freshly painted red lacquered nails, thinking over her next words carefully.

"Can we talk about this when we get home?"

I could feel the salty liquid began to trail down my face, as she basically confirmed what I had been told.

"No, you need to tell me now, I deserve this much."

Another pause ensued, and I was just about to hang up when she began to speak. "I was never able to have children. So me and your father traveled from Canberra to Sydney in hopes of finding a new addition to our family."

I felt her voice waver as she continued to talk. "We saw so many cute little babies, abandoned by their parents and sent to live at the orphanage but you stood out. You had these eyes. These soft, warm blue eyes and we immediately knew you were the one."

"But my eyes aren't blue?"

"Your eye colour changed when you were 3, the doctor said it as possible but uncommon. We couldn't tell you, you were adopted because we thought you might not handle it well."

I let out a bitter laugh. "Well, you were right about that one."

"I have to go now, but remember your father and I love you, whether your blood related or not."

The line went dead, and my body began to convulse as I sobbed.

I think that was the first time she said she loved me since I was 10. Honestly, it was overwhelming to find out that I was adopted, but I realized that fact shouldn't change anything.

Those two had still raised me into the person, I am today and for the sake of getting over this, I had to believe that being the owner of the love of my overbearing mother and gentle father was enough.

But as I fell asleep on my tear stained pillow, I couldn't quite describe the way my heart twisted.

I woke up the next morning with puffy eyes and blotchy skin. After covering up the noticeable spots with a little makeup, I trudged down the stairs feeling kind of empty.

I hoped that as the day progressed, I might begin to feel better. I grabbed a bagel to fill my grumbling stomach and headed out towards the unused car in the driveway.

For some reason, every resident of my house was against me driving, despite the fact that I had owned my license for a little over a year. It may or may not be an Australian licence, so I might not be old enough to drive here, but I knew that wasn't the issue they had with me driving.

Sliding into the vehicle, I was happy to make it to school without any incidents. Well, I had about 8 people honk at me but that was no big deal.

I walked into first period, glad that it was finally Friday. My Math teacher Mr. Lee was quite monotone and lacked personality, so I was thankful when class ended

Hoseok's lips lifted upwards and he excitedly waved as I walked across the science lab, gaining strange looks from our peers.

"So it seemed that my extra special pills worked!"

I shot Hoseok a lazy grin, listening to him rant about how elated he was that I felt better. I was actually really touched to find out how much the orange haired boy had worried about my well being.

"Look I got you a present!"

He passed me a small cluster of flowers, he had somehow kept pristine in his pocket.

"They're Mayflowers," Hoseok informed me excitedly.

"Aww thanks Hobi, they're really pretty."

He grinned, and we talked a bit more before the teacher began the lesson.

Soon enough, the bell rang signalling the beginning of lunch and I joined the horde of students in the hallway. I arrived at my locker after a series of pushing and shoving. I was very annoyed to see the infamous Baekhyun waiting for me.

"Jihye, I warned you about them!" he pouted, stomping his feet like a child that's favourite candy had been taken away.

"I don't know what them you're talking about."

"Those partum and imperium!"

I rolled my eyes at the unknown words exiting his lips. "Sorry Baekhyun, I only know English and Korean.

He ran his hands through his bleached hair and I could tell he was frustrated with my behaviour.

"You'll regret not taking me seriously later." the boy pulled a cherry lollipop out of his pocket placing it in his mouth.

"Well if I ever have any regrets I'll come to you immediately," I scoffed, sarcasm dripping like venom from my voice.

His lips made their way into their usual pout and he swore he'd be back soon to bother me again.

Glad that the persistent boy was finally gone, I went to search for BamBam and Jisoo. They weren't too hard to find in the crowd, Jisoo's expensive looking hair clip sticking out like a sore thumb.

I stumbled back in surprise when the black haired girl flung herself onto me. "I thought you died! I dropped BamBam and I's phones in the toilet yesterday to see if they were waterproof, it turns out they weren't. Then you didn't come to school yesterday, and I had no way to know if you were dead or not."

I laughed at Jisoo's odd way of worrying, pulling myself away from the hysterical girl. Lunch was filled with idle chit chat and I helped BamBam figure out his outfits for his cat pop group.

We were interrupted from our conversation on whether Pudding would look better in blue or green, when an angry female stormed over to our table.

"Jihye Song right? I really don't appreciate what you said to Namjoon oppa. First, your rude to him in school and now online?"

"Um, what do you mean?"

She rolled her eyes, before pulling out her phone. "Stop pretending to be innocent."

I glanced at the tweet she had shown me in horror.

@JihyeSong22

Kim Namjoon has to be the most pathetic and vain person to ever walk the planet. His intellect is comparable to that of a newborn giraffe and if all you dumbasses at BigHit high who actually think he deserves his role in the school... Well, let's just say you're equally as intelligent.

The tweet had over 600 retweets and 10000 comments, all of which I could assume to be negative.

"I didn't write this!"

"Sure you didn't," the girl muttered, sliding her phone back into her pocket.

"Listen Sana, I'm sure there's some misunderstanding, Jihye isn't the type of person to write something out of spite like that," BamBam said.

I felt my heart swell with gratefulness, for the loyal friends I had.

Sana just muttered a quick, "If I see you write something like this again, I'll make your life a living hell," before storming off.

"Someone's out to get me it seems," I groaned, it seemed that problem after problem had begun to arise.
