It was nightfall.
You and Denki stood in the shadows, wearing black hoodies and leggings.
You had pulled the hood up over both of your heads so nobody could recognize you.
The first target came out of work, her long black hair tied neatly into braids, her blue eyes relaxed and unfocused.
"There she is." You turned and whispered.
You froze time and grabbed Denkis hand.
Together you approached the woman who still had a smile on her face.
"Denki, gun." You outstretched your free hand.
He grunted in affirmation and handed you the gun.
You walked around until you could look the woman dead in the eyes.
I can still back out.
We could run away.
I can still be a hero.
You pushed the thoughts away and pointed the gun at we forehead.
You pulled the trigger.
The bullet began to exit the gun, and froze the second it had no connection to you.
You moved the gun to her temple.
You shot once more.
It did the same thing as the previous bullet.
You stuffed the gun into your hoodie pocket and went back to where you and Denki were standing.
You unfroze time and shut your eyes.
The woman didn't scream or react in any way.
She just fell, her body now lifeless.
Every onlooker turned in fear.
Screams of terror filled the streets.
You looked at Denki.
He looked at you.
You were both shocked at the expression on the others face.
A wide smile.
"Denki that felt..." You whispered.
"Amazing." He breathed. You tightened your hold on his hand.
"I don't feel guilty. Why don't I feel guilty?"
"I don't either. I don't really know why..."
"We had to do it, right?"
"No, we didn't."
"I still don't feel guilty. I feel..."
"Euphoric." You breathed in harmony.
