"Cyn," A familiar raspy voice called out, awakening me from my slumber.

I fluttered my eyes open, then jumped a little at the sight of a dark figure standing over me.

"Chill ma, it's just me." Vonte chuckled. I let out a small sigh, then sat up on the couch.

"Where's Killa?" I looked around, noticing that he wasn't under me anymore.

"I let him outside to shit."

"Oh." I said, grabbing my phone and checking the time, which read 3:40 a.m.

Damn, I slept that whole time? Weed naps ain't no joke.

"I got you sum to eat." He said, nodding his head towards the kitchen.

"Ugh, thanks. I'm starving." I grumbled, getting up from the couch and walking into the kitchen.

A Cookout tray and sprite were sitting on the counter, and I assumed them to be mine. Vonte came in behind me, watching me intently as I warmed my food up.

"They're really the only place open this late." He said, taking a sip out of his own cup.

"It's fine." I told him, giving him a small smile. "I love Cookout."

After pulling my food out of the microwave, I said a quick prayer over it then bit into a chicken tender. I closed my eyes and chewed slowly on my food, savoring every bite.

"Aight, I'm going to sleep." Devonte said with his back turned to me as he walked out of the kitchen. "The guest bedroom is down the hall, and the bathroom is across from it. I'll take you home first thing in the morning."

I finished my food and straightened up the kitchen, then went down the hall and sure enough, an empty bedroom sat to the left and a bathroom was on the right. The bedroom is so nice, but there isn't even a television in the room and it honestly looks like it's never been inhabited.

I explored the room a little more then went into the bathroom to shower, but I quickly realized that there were no towels in the linen closet, and I didn't have any clothes to change in to. I crept down the hall to the master bedroom, where Vonte had the door cracked. I balled my hand into a small fist and knocked softly.

"Wassup." He responded almost immediately.

Upon entering the room I went observed a shirtless Devonte, sitting on the side of the bed smoking a blunt. The room was a little steamy, so I assume he just got out of the shower. I looked around, shocked at the drastic different between his room and the guest room. His room is so much bigger and nicer, equipped with a whole ass living area and he even has a 70 inch TV hanging above a nice fireplace that's across from his bed.

"I was gonna take a shower, but there's no towels in that bathroom." I said lowly.

He carefully set his blunt down, then walked into the bathroom in his room and grabbed a towel, two washcloths, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and a bar of Dove soap.

He handed them all to me, then walked over to his dresser and pulled out a wife beater and some sweats that looked waaaaaay to long for my legs.

"Thanks." I mumbled, carefully accepting the pile he held out for me. "Well, um...goodnight." I said, giving him a gentle smile.

"Night, shorty." Devonte nodded.

I closed the bedroom door behind me, then waltzed back down the hall to my side of the house.

The Next Morning

The alarm on my phone went off at exactly 6:30, just as it always does.

Damn, I just went to sleep at 4:30.

I dragged myself out of bed and to the guest bathroom to take care of my morning hygiene routine.

When I was done, I tip toed into the kitchen, being careful not to wake Devonte up. The first thing I saw was Killa standing right outside of the sliding door, so I let him in. He ran right up to me, and followed me everywhere I went as I searched for some breakfast.

I settled for a bowl of cereal, then me and Killa made our way to the living room.

"Don't you gotta go to class?" Vonte asked, seemingly coming out of nowhere.

"Fuck!" I exclaimed, causing Killa to jump up and stare Vonte down. "You scared me."

"Damn, you turned my own dog against me in one day?" He chuckled, coming to sit right next to me. "But like I said, don't you got class?"

"Yeah, at 8. But there's no way I'm gonna make it." I said, looking at the time. 7:15.

"Nah I better get you home, I'on want yo moms thinking I got you missin' class and shit."

"How would she know?" I asked, putting a spoonful of Lucky Charms and milk into my mouth. "She's not even here."

He shrugged, then watched me with great focus as I finished eating.

"You got a bad habit of watching me eat." I teased.

"Cause yo ass always eat like you ain't never gonna eat again. Like damn shorty, the food ain't going nowhere." He joked.

I rolled my eyes, then got on Snapchat to send Nikki a pic for our daily streak.

"What's your Snap?" I asked.

"I don't got none of that shit." He scoffed.

"Wack." I rolled my eyes and stuck my tongue out at him.

He laughed then retreated to his bedroom, I guess to get dressed. I was right, because a few minutes later he reappeared in some sweats, a Nike sweatshirt and some slides.

"Cmon." He told me.

I said goodbye to Killa by rubbing my hand over the top of his sleepy head, then slid my shoes on and grabbed my purse.

As soon as he opened the door the brisk air made my nipples hard and noticeable, since I don't have a bra on. I crossed my arms up over my chest, trying to hide them.

"My shits prolly hard too." Vonte said, climbing into the truck.

What the fuckkkk!

The ride back to my house was comfortably silent, with only Vonte's music playing in the background. We finally pulled up to my house, but I didn't get out immediately.

"You can come over later, if you want. I'll slide through and pick you up after class, and we can get some chinese from the spot around the corner and take it back to the crib." Vonte offered, licking over his bottom lip as he spoke.

"Yeah okay, that sounds good." I responded.

I played it cool on the outside, but on the inside, I screamed.

He wants me to come over?

"Aight." He said.

I felt his eyes drag down to my nipples, then back up to my face. Thank the Lord I'm darkskin, because I know I would've been red as a cherry if I weren't.

I thanked him again for everything, then made my way into my house. Like a true gentleman, Vonte didn't pull off until he saw me walk into the house and close the door.

I collapsed on my couch, not even attempting to make it upstairs to my bed. So many thoughts were running through my head, I almost didn't even realize that my phone was ringing.

"Why you not in class?" Nikki questioned as soon as I picked up.

"I ended up spending the night with East, and I didn't have time to come home, change, get all my shit, and make it to class on time." I explained. "So I just said fuck it."

"Ooo, bestfriend! Why you didn't tell me East is your nigga?!"

"What? He—he's not...I literally just met him, Nik. I didn't even know you knew him."

"Everybody know's him, Cyn. Maybe if you came outside more often, you would know him too!" She giggled.

I took a deep breath, then sighed. "You know how I am."

Yeah, I know." Her voice lowered a little after a brief pause. "Did y'all do anything?"

"No." I answered truthfully. "I slept in the guest room."

"Bitch, you tripping. If it were me, and I was single, I would've been all over him." She laughed. "He fine as hell!"

"It's not even like that. He's not even like that." I said, more to myself than to her as I had flashbacks of how kind and compassionate Devonte has been to me these past few days, even with all the attitude I've been giving him. I can tell that trying to get any sex out of me is truly the last thing on his mind.

"Well what he is, is fine as fuck. And everybody knows East don't let no bitches in that nice ass house, he be taking hoes to the hotel. And even then, he kicks them out right after he's done fucking. Hell, the only reason why I know where he lives is because he's Devin's cousin. So if he's letting you spend the night and shit, you got something going for you. Shit, maybe he likes you. But I'm going to my next class, I just wanted to make sure you were okay."

"Yeah Nik, I'm fine. Thanks for checking on me. I love you."

"Love you too Cyn. Byeeee." She said, then she hung up.

I couldn't help but think about if what Nikki said is true; does Vonte like me? Do I like him? It feels clear that we've friend-zoned each other...but why does my heart skip a beat whenever I hear his name? Why do butterflies swarm around in the bottom of my belly whenever I'm in his presence?

I pushed those thoughts to the back of my mind as I forced myself to go upstairs and get some classwork done before Vonte comes back for me.

A few hours later, Vonte texted and said that he was on the way. My heart literally pounded out of my chest as I threw my laptop and notebooks into my bookbag, then threw some clothes that weren't so bummy on.

Looking myself over in my mirror, I started at the bun on top of my head and dragged my eyes all the way down to the shoes on my feet. I don't even know why I felt the need to put so much effort into my appearance but for some reason...I just did.

The sound of a carn horn snapped me out of my thoughts. Assuming it was Devonte, I sighed before grabbing my overnight bag and rushing outside.

He didn't even look at me when I got in the truck, he just waited for me to put my seatbelt on then he pulled off. I don't know if he forgot or what, but we didn't even get the Chinese food from the place around the corner from my house. He just sped towards his house without uttering a single word to me. Clearly something's bothering him, but I had no idea what. He was completely fine just a couple of hours ago.

After a few moments of silently debating with myself on if I should ask him what happened or I should just mind my business, I decided to test the waters and see what's up.

"You okay?" I asked softly.

He nodded his head yes, still not looking at me.

"If you're up to hang out, you can just take me home. I don't want to be a burden or—"

"Did I say you was being a burden?" He cut me off. "Aight then. Just ride, shorty."

He gripped the steering wheel harder as the vein in his temple throbbed.

I cut my eyes at him, then dug my AirPods out of the case and jammed them both in my ears. Rico Nasty played loudly; that is, until Vonte snatched the left one out of my ear.

"Don't fuckin' do that." I warned him.

"I'm speaking to you." He bucked. "What time do you get out of class tomorrow?"

"2." I answered.

"I'm free tomorrow, we can go do something then if you want. Get out the house and shit. But I ain't fuckin' wit it today."

"I don't wanna do nothing with you." I said, turning and looking out of the window. We approached a red light and he slammed on his breaks, causing me to fly forward.

"Lose the fucking attitude, Cyntasia."

"Are you fuckin' crazy?! Don't do that shit! Fuck is wrong with you?" I growled, mumbling the last part.

"Yo, you really starting to irritate me." He barked, tapping his thumb on the steering wheel.

"Well take me home then. You offered to come get me, I didn't ask for this shit."

"No." He said.

"No?" I snapped.

"I'm not going all the way back to your house when we're two seconds from mine. I'll take you home whenever I go back on that side." He spoke in a tone that made me not even want to argue with him.

We were so busy fussing that I didn't even realize that we pulled up in his driveway. Quickly, I grabbed my bookbag and overnight bag and rushed to the front door, waiting for him to unlock the door. He took his sweet time and I knew he was playing with me, because it doesn't take a person three minutes to walk from their car to the front door.

The closer he got to me, the more I noticed the cuts on his face. My face softened as he turned the key and we walked into the house. I didn't say anything, but I put my bags down in the guest room and went into the bathroom. Last night, I saw a first aid kit under the sink. After grabbing it, I rushed back into the living room where he was.

"Come here." I said softly, holding the first aid kit behind my back.

He didn't move, so I repeated myself.

"Vonte, come here."

Hesitantly, he got up from his spot on the couch and followed me into the kitchen.

"Sit." I told him, putting the box on the counter and tapping it twice.

He hopped onto the countertop, and I washed my hands at the sink. After I dried them, I stood between his legs, cleaning the dried blood off his face and rubbing ointment on the wounds. He didn't say anything to me, so I addressed the elephant in the room.

"You wanna tell me what happened?" I gently questioned, not really expecting a reply.

"Me and Corey got into it." He said lowly.

"Why?"

"He was talking shit." Vonte shrugged.

"And whatever he said was so bad that y'all had to fight?"

"Yeah. It was." He replied. "I'm not gon be disrespected, especially by that bitch ass nigga."

Carefully, I opened a band-aid and placed it on the biggest cut. His eyes followed every motion my hand made in awe, as if he never had someone doctor on him before.

After I finished I turned to walk away, but Vonte grabbed one of my belt loops and pulled me back. We stared each other deep in the eyes for what felt like an eternity; it was like we both had so much to say, but neither of us could seem to muster up any words.

"Here's another bad habit you have," I said in an attempt to lighten the mood. "Putting your hands on me."

"You want me to stop?"

Silence. Because saying 'no' would sound too desperate and thirsty, but saying 'yes' would be an utter and complete lie.

I traced my fingers across the small bags under her eyes, then down his cheeks and to his lips.

"You need to sleep." I finally said.

"I know." He mumbled.

"Why do you do this to yourself?" I asked with my warm hand still on his cold face. "Whatever's going on in that shop...it's not worth it, Vonte."

"Will you come?" He asked, ignoring my question.

"Come where?"

"To sleep."

I nodded my head yes, then dragged my hand from his face to his fingertips, lightly grabbing his middle and index fingers and leading him to his bedroom. He got into the bed first, then I climbed in after him. Immediately, he took his shirt off, revealing his tattooed chest and torso, but bare back. I sat with my back against the headboard, and Vonte laid his head on my stomach.

"What time do you want me to wake you up?" I asked.

"Don't." He said, reaching for his phone.

Vonte sent a quick text to someone, then turned his phone completely off and tossed it on his nightstand. I slid down and turned my body so that his head was nestled right between my chin and my chest. Slinging his arm around my waist, he pulled me close to him and let his hand rest right above my backside. His warm breath hit my neck and chest every time he exhaled, making me tingle. I rubbed the back of his head softly until I heard light snores coming from him, then I fell asleep myself.

The Next Day

The following morning was the sweetest morning I'd ever had. For the first time in my entire life, I woke up in perfect peace. Laying with my eyes closed, I allowed time to stop for a moment as I took in all of what it felt like to wake up in Devonte Riddick's arms.

I was high off his touch. His scent. His presence. The peace and protection the arm that was slung around my waist keeping my back to his front provided was indescribable. The way his breath hit my neck made my whole body tingle. And even though the sky outside was gloomy as hell, waking up next to Devonte was like having my own personal sunrise.

I can't quite define what I feel for Vonte just yet, but I know that what I'm feeling for him is something I've never experienced before. Taking my walls completely down isn't an option, but I'm beginning to realize that I can't allow my past experiences to dictate the way I live today.

When time resumed again and I snapped out of la-la-land, I sat up to see Killa sprawled out at the foot of the bed. Chuckling silently, I pushed the covers off of my body and attempted to get out of bed, only to be held in place by Devonte's arm. I looked over my shoulder at him figuring he was just sleeping hard, but to my surprise, he was wide awake.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up." I said softly.

"You good, I was already up."

"Mkay," I uttered. His arm was still secure around my waist, and it took him a second to realize and let me go.

I rubbed on Killa for a few seconds, then left his bedroom and made my way down the hall to the guest room where the little bit of clothes that I have over here are. After I picked an outfit, I waltzed into the bathroom and turned the shower on, then stripped out of my clothes.

My showers last anywhere from two or three minutes if I'm in a hurry, to an hour when I want to relax. Something about piping hot water streaming onto my back puts me at ease. It's so therapeutic to me and at times, I get lost in the in the comfort.

I rinsed myself off one last time, then I wiped the fog from the bathroom mirror after I stepped out of the shower.

I got dressed and packed my belongings, then called out to tell Vonte I was ready and waited for him in the front room. He came less than five minutes later, dressed in BAPE sweats and a wife beater, his tattoos showing on every part of his exposed skin. Around his neck were two Cuban link chains, one a little shorter than the other. The top of his shirt squeezed his pectorals as he stood by the door, and his cologne met me moments before his words.

"You ready to go?" He asked as he threw a matching BAPE sweatshirt over his wife beater.

"Damn, that was quick."

"Shit, I ain't like you. I get in the shower and get out. Don't take me a damn hour."

I stood up and grabbed my purse. "Whatever, I wasn't even in there that long. Don't do me."

"C'mon shorty." He chuckled, nodding his head towards the door.

The car ride back to my house was spent with us listening to the Breakfast Club on the radio, silently stealing glances at each other when the other wasn't looking. It was like we both had so much to say, but we both were waiting on each other to speak up first.

He finally pulled into my carport and put his truck in park. Our neighbor Ms. Elaine was sitting on her porch smoking a cigarette, watching me like a hawk as I climbed out. I smiled and waved at her as Vonte walked me to my front door.

"You said you get out of class at 2?" Vonte asked. I nodded in response.

"Aight. Imma hit you around then."

"Mkay." I smiled, turning to unlock the front door.

Turning back around one more time, I waved Devonte goodbye then shut and locked the door behind me. I waltzed into the kitchen and watched him walk back to his truck from the window and just as he got in, the sky cracked and heavy raindrops fell from the dark clouds.

After grabbing a granola bar from the kitchen cabinet, I went upstairs to grab my rain boots and then I left my house and headed to campus.

Because of the weather classes weren't full, and only the people like me who need attendance points were present, the day went by extremely slowly.

When 2 o'clock finally rolled around, I practically floated out of the lecture hall to my car, and then drove home. The first thing I did was call my mother to see how her day was going, and after we hung up I started picking through my clothes to find an outfit for tonight.

I feel a little rush
I think I've got a little crush on you
I hope it's not too much
But babe, when I'm with you, I hear it
My heart singing
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la-la
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la-la

Singing my heart out to the music blasting from the speakers, I waltzed around the second floor of my house as I showered and then got ready.

Four o'clock came and went, then five, then six and there was still no sign of Devonte. I hadn't even received so much as a text to let me know that he wasn't coming. My feelings were beyond hurt, but I was more upset with myself than with him because I shouldn't have hyped myself up for this. Devonte isn't my boyfriend and he doesn't owe me anything, not his time or even an explanation on why he doesn't want to spend it with me.

Just as I was about to take my lashes off and wash my face, there was a knock at the door. Before I opened the door I peeked out of the window and saw Devonte's truck park in front of my house. I sighed and pouted, even though I was lowkey overjoyed at the fact that he didn't forget about me.

When I swung the door open, Vonte stood in front of me in a Gucci shirt, a fitted Gucci cap turned backwards, a dark pair of jeans and Gucci sneakers with a blunt hanging from his lips. His eyes were redder than a cherry, and the all-too familiar scent of his cologne mixed with marijuana floated through my nostrils.

"You can't smoke that in my mama house." I rolled my eyes and said. "I'm bouto get ready to get in the bed, since we're obviously not going anywhere."

"Calm yo lil pretty ass down." Vonte said in a raspy voice as he put the blunt out and stuck it behind his ear, and his eyes roamed my body from head to toe.

I'm not wearing anything fancy, just a cute crop top, a Nike windbreaker, jeans and uggs, but for some reason, I got kind of shy.

"I got caught up with some shit, and I lost track of time. My fault, ma."

I faked an attitude by crossing my arms over my chest and poking out my bottom lip, but I stepped aside to let him inside of my house. "Yeah yeah."

"I'm ready to go whenever you are."

I nodded and walked into the living room to retrieve my jacket. I slid it across my shoulders, then grabbed my MK crossbody and followed Devonte out of the house and to his truck.

He opened the passenger's side door for me and helped me get inside the truck, then closed the door and walked around to the driver's side. The first thing he did was fire up the blunt that was behind his ear, and after a deep inhale, he switched the gear to drive and took off.

I whipped my phone out and took a few videos of myself vibing along to the music, until Devonte reached over and playfully smacked my phone down.

"Always in that fuckin' phone." He smirked. I rolled my eyes in his comment and posted my favorite video to my instagram story.

Vonte sat back in his seat and turned the knob up on the stereo, blasting Young Thug through the speakers. I watched him the whole time that he drove, unable to peel my eyes away from him no matter how hard I tried.

"You must see sum you like." Vonte teased as we finally pulled into the parking lot of Cade. Even on a weekday it was packed, and we had to park all the way in the back.

"I definitely see something...not sure if I like it though." I chuckled softly.

"Yeah, aight." He smirked as he got out of the truck.

Of course Devonte opened my door for me and surprisingly slung his arm over my shoulder as we walked into Cade, aka Dave and Buster's on steroids. It's the hottest place to be if you're not at an actual club or party. In addition to arcade games, a bar with several jumbo flatscreens playing every sport and a restaurant, in the back there's also bumper cars, a movie theater and mini golf.

After waiting a few minutes for a booth to become available, the hostess led us through the sea of people to the restaurant section of the venue. Devonte held my hand the entire time, causing a few nasty glares to be shot our way by some girls that I recognized from seeing around campus. I didn't even care though, because I was too focused on calming the butterflies going crazy in my tummy.

Just as we ordered our drinks, Devonte's phone started ringing. He glanced at the caller ID and smacked his lips, then declined the call and placed his phone face down in the table. It rang two more times, and each time he declined the call.

"You can take that if you need to." I said.

"I don't." He stated. "What I need to do, is get some food in my stomach. I'm fuckin' starving."

"You and me both." I mumbled, flipping through the menu.

On cue our waitress returned with our drinks, and we placed our food orders. Twenty minutes later, we were stuffing our faces with hot wings and pizza.

We ate and talked, joked, and laughed at just about everything. Even though Cade was beyond crowded, it felt like we were the only two in the whole building.

"Whew. I'm stuffed." I leaned my back against the leather seat of my side of the booth and lazily dragged my hands across my stomach, which was both full of food and cramping from laughing so hard with and at Devonte's goofy ass.

"Hell nah, wake yo ass up." He smiled and bit down on his bottom lip. "We ain't even played no games yet."

"I'on think Imma make it." I croaked.

"If I ain't know no better, I'd think this is just your way of avoiding the ass whooping you know I'm 'bout to hand out." Vonte grinned.

"Ass whooping?!" I scoffed. "Boy bye!"

"Cyntasia, I bet you a twenty dollars you can't beat me at air hockey."

"Twenty dollars?" I playfully sucked my teeth. "That's it? I bet a benji I can."

"Word? Let's go!" Vonte gushed, standing up.

I shook my head and stood to my feet, following him over to the air hockey table. As I located my striker I said a quick prayer to God, asking to somehow win this game because I damn sure don't have a hundred dollars to give this man...

__

"You know you cheated, right?" Vonte said as we left Cade and walked through the parking lot to his truck.

I waved the hundred-dollar bill that he just lost in his face. In addition to air hockey, we also played skee ball, Just Dance, and basketball.

"I didn't cheat," I said, tucking the money in my bra. "And I'm not up for any rematches. So don't think you're getting your money back."

"If I wanted it back," Vonte said as his phone, which has been ringing pretty much all night, rang again. "I'd go in there and get it."

Heat immediately rose to my cheek, but I played it off by turning my face away from him.

"Whatever." I smacked my lips and playfully rolled my eyes. "And who keeps calling you like they spotted you on the milk carton or something? Dang."

Instead of answering me, he just shook his head in annoyance. "Somebody being fuckin' worrisome." He grumbled.

When we reached the truck I checked the time on my own phone, and was surprised to see that it was past 11 o'clock at night. It doesn't even seem like we've been gone for that long. I guess time really does fly when you're having fun.

We sat in the parking lot for a few moments, music playing lowly as Devonte rolled up. He made it look so damn easy, pearling three blunts in the time it probably would take me to just break the weed down.

"Where we goin' now?" Vonte questioned as he sparked a blunt, then handed me one.

"Doesn't matter." I shrugged, reaching for the lighter. "You're driving."

He raised a brow and gave me a playful grin, then cranked the music up and whipped out of the parking lot. I let my seat back and fired up my blunt, allowing myself to relax and elevate as the marijuana settled into my system.

Trips that you plan for the next whole week
Bands too long for a nigga so cheap
And your flex OD, and your sex OD
You got it, girl, you got it
You got it, girl, you got

The glare of city lights grew brighter and brighter as we approached downtown, which isn't too far from the Cade. I let my seat back up and slid the sunroof and moonroof all the way open so that I could see all of the lights from all of the buildings.

Pretty lil' thing, you got a bag and now you wildin'
You just took it off the lot, no mileage
Way they hittin' you, the DM lookin' violent
Talkin' wild, you come around and now they silent
Flew the coop at 17, no guidance
You be stayin' low but you know what the vibes is
Ain't never got you nowhere bein' modest
Poppin' shit but only 'cause you know you're poppin'

The vibes were perfect. Riding shotgun with the finest nigga in the world through downtown smoking on some good gas, blasting a fye ass playlist that only elevated my high. Life couldn't be any sweeter.

"You good?" Vonte asked, glancing over at me at the exact moment I turned my head over to him.

His eyes were low and red, just like they were when he came to pick me up earlier. I nodded at his question, then turned my attention back to the skyline.

After another hour or so of driving around, we finally headed away from downtown and back towards my side of town. I was so sad when we pulled in front of my house, because it hit me that the most beautiful night of my life thus far was coming to an end.

Vonte and I stood on my porch at one in the morning, the moon shining down on us like a spotlight as he stood in front of me. I leaned back on the railing of the porch and crossed my feet together. Part of me wanted to invite him in just so that we wouldn't have to part ways, but in my heart I knew that couldn't and wouldn't happen. All good things must come to an end.

In silence, crickets chirped all around the houses. A few clouds floated over the moon, blocking its glow for a few moments before it reappeared brighter than before.

"I had sooo much fun tonight, I really needed this." I said softly. "Thank you."

"Yeah, me too." He nodded as a small smile formed in the corner of his mouth.

We stood silently for a few moments before he leaned forward and kissed me on my forehead. I closed my eyes, savoring the touch of his lips on my flesh as the same feelings I felt this morning washed over me again, more intensely. I was breathless and dazed; my body ached for more than just a forehead kiss and touching—and I knew he did too. His powerful body shook just like mine. It was so easy to get lost in him; lost in this connection between us. The world...the entire universe actually...simply ceased to exist.

"Imma holla at you later though, aight?"

I nodded my head yes as my eyes slowly opened and the energy shared between us slowly disintegrated.

"Drive safe. And text me when you get home."

"Fasho." He uttered. "Will I see you tomorrow?"

I nodded.

Vonte playfully shook his head and turned away from me, sparking another blunt as he walked back to his truck. I watched as he got in, and although I couldn't actually see what was going on because of the window tints, I figured he was toying around on his phone. A few seconds later my suspicions were confirmed when the bass from his music started to boom. I waited on the porch until he pulled off then entered my home, re-set the alarm, and crept upstairs to shower and await Devonte's text to let me know that he made it home safely.
