AS JONATHAN and Icarus help Hopper with the ice, Jonathan asked, "hey, wait, it's not gonna snow next week, is it?" Hopper sighs. "Worst case, no school." He says before passing the bag of salt to Icarus. "Even if we find Will in there.. what are we gonna do about that thing?" Jonathan asked him and Icarus glances back at him.
"We're not gonna do anything." Hopper answered as Icarus expected. "I don't want you anywhere near this, alright? Your mom's been through enough already." He said as he passes another bag to Icarus. "He's my brother." Jonathan says.
"Listen to me. I'm gonna find him. Alright? You gotta trust me on this. I am going to find him." Hopper says before throwing a bag to him.
In the gymnasium, Jonathan, Hopper and Icarus poured salt into the water in the kiddie pool. The three then look at Dustin who puts an egg into the water, when it sinks, Hopper and Jonathan put two more bags of salt. Dustin tests it again, with another egg which stays floating. The curly haired boy smiled proudly as Mike punched his arm lightly, Lucas doing the same to his other arm.
As Eleven got into the pool, Icarus sat down on the other side of Jonathan, Nancy on the other side. The girl went to the middle then got into the water, staying afloat. The electricity start surging, making them all look up because of the lights going on then back off. They go back off again as Icarus looks at Nancy and Jonathan. They all look back at the girl floating in the middle of the pool.
"Barbara?" The girl spoke and Icarus looks at Nancy. Eleven starts breathing heavily, sort of panicking, as the electricity started pulsating, the lights turning on and off again. "What's going on?" Nancy asked as she looks at Mike who sat on the right side of Icarus. "I don't know." He says as he looks back at her, she looks at Eleven in the pool. "Is Barb okay? Is she okay?" Nancy asked her.
"Gone. Gone.. Gone." The girl repeated as Nancy gasped, raising her hand to her mouth. Barb is dead and Eleven had just confirmed that. "It's okay. It's okay. It's okay." Joyce said to her. "Gone. Gone. Gone!" Eleven kept saying as Joyce held onto her arm. "It's okay. It's okay." She says again. "Hey. It's okay. It's okay, we're right here. We're right here, honey." Joyce said as Hopper held Eleven's other hand. "It's okay.. I got you. Don't be afraid. I'm right here with you. It's okay. It's okay. It's okay, you're safe." Joyce repeatedly said to her.
"Castle Byers." When she said that, Icarus looked at Jonathan right away who looked at his mother. "Will.." Eleven whispered causing Joyce to gasp. "You tell him.. tell him I'm coming. Mom is coming." Joyce said then they all heard a voice on the radio, "hurry." The person sounded like they were weak and tired. "Okay. Listen, you tell him to.. to stay where he is. We're coming. We're coming, okay? We're coming, honey." Joyce said.
Eleven suddenly jolts up, taking the goggles off as she did, letting them go and Joyce wraps her arms around her, holding her close. "Oh, okay. Okay. I've got you. It's okay. I got you. I got you. I got you, honey. You did so good. Are you okay?" Joyce whispered as Eleven cried, holding her arm. Icarus looks at Nancy who was staring at the water, probably just taking in that Barb is dead.
As Icarus sat with Nancy, the girl looked at him. "Why are you here?" She whispers and Icarus looks back at her. "I don't have better stuff to do.." He whispers and she smiles, chuckling as she looks away. She puts her hand to his arm, "I'd be okay with you and Steve.." She whispers. "No. Fuck that. Fuck Steve. I won't spare another thought on an asshole like him until he apologizes.." He says and Nancy looks at him. "And if he did?" She smiled up at him. "If he did? What would I do?" He asked as he looks back at her and she nods at him.
"I'd only wanna stay friends.. a world like this isn't for people like me.." He says and she sighs, putting her head onto his shoulder. He looks down, he lied, he said he wouldn't spare another thought on Steve but for some reason, he's all he thought about. He looks up when Jonathan walked in, he walks over to them, sitting on the other side of Nancy.
The three sat in silence for a while, but then Icarus looked at them. "You motherfuckers. We need to do the plan." He says and they both look at him. "What?" They both say in sync. "Your mom and the chief are just walking in there like bait. That.. creature is still in there.." Icarus says and so Nancy understood eight away, looking at Jonathan. "We can't just sit here and let it get them, too.." She says and Icarus nodded, looking at Jonathan.
"We really can't, Jonathan.." He says and Jonathan looks back at him, nodding slowly. "You sure you still wanna try it out?" He asked, meaning about the plan they had came up with.
"I wanna finish what we started." Icarus said before smirking at him. "Yeah.. I want to kill it." Nancy said before looking at Jonathan. Icarus can sense that vengefulness in her and he can't help but feel the same. After getting the stuff from the police station, Jonathan drives them to the Byers home, where they started to set up for the plan.
They get started by putting the bulbs back onto the Christmas lights. Then Jonathan sets up the bear trap in the hallway with Icarus' help. Icarus gets started on putting nails on the wooden baseball bat, as Nancy loaded the gun, the same one they practiced shooting in the woods as Jonathan started pouring gasoline everywhere. Once he finished with the bat, Icarus raised it with a small proud smile on his face. "Done.." He whispered.
As the other two come back into the livingroom, Icarus turns around with the baseball bat in hand. "Tada!" He says proudly. As Jonathan goes to grab knifes, Icarus looks at Nancy. "I can't do blood.. Ironic because of my last name but.. I get squeemish.." He whispers and she nods. "No problem, Rus. We.. We can leave you out of it." She says to him and he nods, setting the baseball bat down. "Remember." Jonathan said, the three now stood in a circle in the livingroom.
"Straight into Will's room." Nancy said, not meeting either of the two's eye gaze. "And don't step on the trap." Icarus says, looking at Jonathan. "Wait for the yo-yo to move." Nancy says. "Then.." Jonathan says, raising the lighter. Nancy finally looks at him in the eyes, "alright. You ready?"
"Ready. One.. two.. you don't have to do this." Jonathan says as Icarus turned away, "Jonathan, stop talking." Nancy whispered as Icarus walks away. "I'm just saying, you don't have to—" "Three." Nancy sliced across the palm of her hand, which Jonathan did the same, causing Icarus to grimace. "Ew! I know I don't see it but it's still so gross." He shivered causing both to look over at him.
As Jonathan and Nancy sat, facing each other, Icarus paced back and forth, not even wanting to be near them because of the blood. He stops when he hears something. "Did you hear that?" Nancy asked and Icarus groans. "I gotta piss!" He says then rushed off to the bathroom. After quickly using the bathroom, Icarus leaves the bathroom, walking into the livingroom to see Jonathan pull his hand away from Nancy suddenly. "Hey weirdos." He says with a smile on his face. "You're the—" Jonathan is cut off when someone starts to knock on the door, causing all three to jump and look over.
"Jonathan?" Steve. Icarus groans, rolling his eyes. "Are you there, man? It's.. It's Steve! Listen, I just want to talk!" He continues to knock as the other two share a look. Icarus sighed, walking over and unlocking the door. He opens it just slightly, "Harrington, listen," "hey. Icarus, what are you—" "You need to leave." He says and Steve sighed at that. "I'm not trying to start anything, okay?" He said and Icarus looked down. "I don't care, Harrington. You got to go." Icarus said.
"No, no, no. Listen, I messed up, okay? I messed.. I messed up. Okay?" He said, looking at Icarus in the eyes now. "And now I miss you." He says and Icarus looks behind him, at Nancy and Jonathan who were now standing up, looking at him. "Really, please.. I just want to make things right." He says, continuing to stare at Icarus in the eyes. "Please.. Please, Icarus." Then looked behind Icarus, catching a glance at Jonathan. "Are you two.. Is that why you want me to leave?!" He exclaimed and Icarus sighed. "No, Harrington. Jesus." Icarus said. As he looks behind him, suddenly the door is ripped open. Steve looks all around, "what is.. what the.." He whispered then Icarus looks at him.
"You need to get out of here." Jonathan said, grabbing Steve. "Whoa. What is all—" "Listen to me. I'm not asking you, I'm telling you, get out of here!" Jonathan yells at Steve who kept freaking out, "what is that smell?! Is that gasoline?!" Icarus raised the gun, cocking it. "Harrington. Get the fuck out. You have no respect for me. Used being queer against Jonathan. I have no fucking time for your bullshit." He said and Steve held up his hands.
"Get the fuck out." He says but Steve keeps freaking out, "what?! Wait. What? What is going on?" He exclaimed. "You have five seconds to get the hell out of here!" Icarus raised his voice as Nancy looked at him. "Okay, is this a joke? Stop, please, put down the gun." Steve said but Icarus doesn't. "I'm doing this for your fucking safety! Get the hell out, Harrington!" He yells but then the lights turn on. "Rus," Nancy says. "Rus!" She shouts at him. He looks at her, "the lights." She says and he looks up.
"It's here." Jonathan said before grabbing the bat Icarus made. "Wait, what's here?" Steve asked as Icarus looked around. "Where is it?" Nancy asked as she grabbed the lighter. "Where is what?! Whoa! Easy with that!" Steve yells at Icarus. "Where is it!" Nancy shouted as she and Jonathan move around in circles, as Icarus looked at them like they were Goddamn insane. "I don't know. I don't see it." Jonathan said as Icarus looked at Steve.
"Where is what?!" The teen exclaimed and Icarus sighed, looking up. "Will someone please explain to me, what the hell is going on—" Steve is cut off when something starts to break through the ceiling of the livingroom. Icarus starts shooting, pushing Jonathan towards the hall, where Nancy was already running to Will's bedroom.
Icarus grabs Steve's hand, pulling him down the hall, both jumping over the bear trap swiftly and running into Will's bedroom. "Jesus! Jesus! What the hell was that?" Steve shouted, the three standing a few feet away, Nancy holding up the lighter with Icarus holding the gun and Jonathan holding up the bat covered in nails, with Steve behind them. They watch the yo-yo and then suddenly the electricity jolts, going back to normal. Jonathan and Nancy glance at each other, "do you hear anything?"
"No." Jonathan says as Nancy closed the lighter. They open the door and step out into the hall, Jonathan holding up the bat and Icarus holding up the gun. They stare down the empty hall, Steve reaching out and putting his hand on Icarus' back. Icarus doesn't even look at him, as he continued down the hall, past Nancy and Jonathan.
