Sophie sat at her desk in her bedroom, staring at her homework assignment, her eyebrows furrowed in concentration. Even though this homework was from her Polyglot class, which normally came easy to her because of her special ability, she still took the homework very seriously. Lady Cadence was one of her toughest mentors yet, and she had made it clear from their first meeting that she wasn't exactly Sophie's biggest fan.
She was about to translate the last phrase onto the paper when two warm hands suddenly covered her eyes.
"Guess who Foster?"
Sophie, not bothering to play along, said "I already know your voice Keefe, and you ruined the surprise by calling me Foster, you're the only one that calls me that anyway."
"Wow! You know me so well! I'm impressed Foster," Keefe said happily, removing his hands from her eyes. "What are you doing?"
"My Polyglot homework, or I was before I was rudely interrupted."
Keefe snorted, shrugging his shoulders. "You know you liked it, and who needs homework when you've got me to occupy your time?" He said, wrapping his arms around her and nuzzling his head into her neck. "Come snuggle with me instead."
Sophie sighed, unconsciously snuggling Keefe more in the process. She and Keefe had been dating for three months now, and almost every day since then he had made it his personal mission to distract her whenever possible, especially when she was doing homework. Sophie sighed again, feeling herself slowly succumb to Keefe's charms. She knew the homework was due tomorrow, but he felt so warm and nice and before she knew it, she had already given in to the temptation of Keefe's distractingly warm arms around her.
"Fine, but only for a couple of minutes, I really should be getting back to my homework." Sophie said, rising up off the desk chair and letting Keefe guide her to the soft chair in the corner of the room.
Keefe sat, pulling Sophie down with him until she was sprawled in his lap comfortably. He wrapped his arms around her and nuzzled his head into her neck again, his hair tickling her cheek in the process. Sophie twined her arms around his neck and leaned in closer to him, until she was almost engulfed into his embrace. They stayed like that for a long time, sitting quietly in the calm before Sophie felt her snuggle-induced drowsiness overtake her and could feel her eyelids drooping by the second. Fighting to stay awake Sophie struggled to get out of Keefe's tight hold, only to realize he had fallen asleep holding onto her, and by the looks of it, he wasn't letting go any time soon. Realizing she couldn't get out of his vice grip, she sighed and finally snuggled closer to Keefe, admitting defeat and letting sleep overtake her.
The next day, neither of them spoke about how angry Grady was that morning when he walked in to wake Sophie and instead found her straddling Keefe in the chair, or how she had forgotten to finish the Polyglot homework that was due that day. It was all worth it though, when Sophie received the detention slip from her Polyglot mentor and opened the door of the detention room, to see a smirking boy with eyes so blue, they seemed to see right to her soul.
