Beach day.
The sun was blazing, oceans waving, and seagulls calling. The skies were as clear as it could ever be and as the girls drove by the beach, they saw people tanning, playing in the water, sleeping under umbrellas, and chilling in bikinis and swim trunks.
When they finally found a parking spot just by the sand, Nancy, Jooe, Jane, and Daisy got out of the Mini Cooper. It seemed almost cinematic because they were hands down some of the most beautiful girls in the area.
Each of them only wore a bikini top - revealing their amazing figures - volleyball shorts, and flip-flops. Their fair skin made them stand out from the crowd and each person that they passed would always take a second glance.
Honestly, if it was a movie, they would be walking in slow motion - strutting as if they were on a walkway - with shades on and heads held high.
As they made their way to the beach, two girls took an interest in them - the tallest one in particular.
But all her attention was on the girl with the short hair - the way her hips swayed side to side and the way guys hollered out to her got the tall one amused.
"Yeonwoo, quit staring."
"I should tell you the same thing."
"Tsk, don't fuck around bro."
Yeonwoo just hums at Hyebin - her closest friend - with a smirk dancing across her face.
A moment later, three other girls - Ahin, Nayun, and Taeha - ran across the street towards the two with their towels and a beach volleyball.
Turns out, this group of girls were part of a provincial volleyball league and today was their only off day before preparations for playoffs. As they were part of the team, Nayun and Taeha were their supervisors while the other three played as starters.
As the other girls were setting their blankets down, Yeonwoo continued to observe the girl with the lobbed hair. She was wearing a red bikini top - with her bikini bottom peaking out from the waist band of her loose volleyball shorts.
She was sitting on her blanket, rubbing sunscreen on her arms - and again, she looked straight out of a movie. The girl did it with such gracefulness, it was surreal.
But the lack of movement started to tire Yeonwoo; so she took the ball and began volleying to herself.
Meanwhile, as Nancy's hands were occupied with the lotion, her eyes were occupied with a sight of their own. She noticed the tall girl's grace with each set and the crazy body she had - wide hips, slim waist, long legs; everything about her was stunning.
This got Nancy excited. For what reason?
Jooe and Daisy suddenly blocked her view from the goddess.
"Ya, quit staring," Jooe whispered as she placed her hands on her hips.
All Nancy could do was smirk.
"Bro, you're not thinking what I'm thinking," Daisy sighed out.
"It'll be fun guys," Nancy defended. She stood up after applying the last of the sunscreen on her thighs.
Jooe hurriedly placed a hand on her friend's shoulder, "Come on bro, I just wanna have a good time."
"Ya, let her be guys," Jane speaks out from her laying position. She nonchalantly moves her sunglasses from her face to her head and nestles her hand behind her head. "I think it'll be fun to watch," she chuckles out.
Daisy lets out a long sigh, "Bro, she's done this like five times already, and each time, we'd be dragged into it."
"True, but this time is different - I think it'll be fine," the oldest one of the group says before finally sitting up.
"Come on guys," Nancy giggles as she brushes past Jooe and Daisy, "I know it's going to be a lot of fun."
Her two friends silently cried to themselves and followed Jane who was trailing Nancy. When the group walked together, they definitely did not go unnoticed - men tried flirting with them, hollered at them, and a few even tried getting their numbers.
At that moment, Yeonwoo was joined by Hyebin and Ahin and they created a small rally for themselves. But for most of the time, Yeonwoo continued to watch Nancy and the others from her peripherals.
When the tall one finally turned her head to look at them, her eyes met Nancy's own amused gaze.
"Uh, I think they're coming this way guys," Yeonwoo says to the others and immediately improves her form to impress the beauties walking towards them.
"Hey," a soft angel-like voice calls out, "you guys seem like you know what you're doing."
"Where did you learn to play?" Jane questions.
Hyebin immediately stops the rally and the the other two follow their captain's steps to meet face to face with the newcomers.
"We're part of a team actually - been at it for pretty much my whole life though," Hyebin responds to Jane's question. While she spoke, Yeonwoo and Nancy exchanged amused smirks.
"Same here," Yeonwoo adds - keeping eye contact with Nancy.
While the other girls introduced themselves and make small talk, the youngest member walks up to the tallest - eliminating a lot of space between each other. In a low, raspy whisper, Nancy says, "I'd like to see what you got."
Her statement wasn't so much of a challenge, but an invitation - and Yeonwoo's heart started beating a little faster at the thought.
She stuck out her hand, "Nancy."
The other chuckled, "Yeonwoo."
"How about we play a little game?" the shorter girl suggests.
Just the words Yeonwoo wanted to hear. "I'm so down for it."
"Hey guys!" Nancy calls out to everyone, "let's get a net - two on two?"
Even though Daisy and Jooe wanted to chill, they never turned down a game. The four girls exchanged wide grins while Hyebin, Yeonwoo, and Ahin were agreeing with the idea.
After finding a net, they decided it was Yeonwoo and Hyebin against Nancy and Jane.
"I don't know if you're ready for this," Yeonwoo playfully threatens.
"I think it's you who isn't ready," Nancy replies.
"Oh? And where did you learn how to play?"
Nancy smirks, "I think I'd rather show you rather than tell you."
The other chuckles, "Bring it on baby."
Daisy, who stood by the sidelines, acted as the ref. It was Hyebin who had first serve, and when Daisy signaled her to go for it, she went all in for a jump serve.
Yeonwoo expected them to be thrown back in surprise - she thought they were just a bunch of girls who thought they were good with not much skill at all.
Oh boy, she was definitely wrong.
Jane passed the ball to Nancy with such grace and precision - which was incredible considering Hyebin's jump serves were fast and unpredictable. Nancy was then able to set Jane up for a kill, and just as Yeonwoo jumped to block, it was like Jane hung in the air for a few more seconds before she smashed the ball beside Hyebin.
The two girls were amazed and impressed by their opponent's team work, and Ahin, Taeha, and Nayun's jaws were left ajar. Meanwhile, Jooe and Daisy were cheering them on and clapping like baby seals.
"Weren't ready for that, huh?" Nancy says over her shoulders.
This girl, Yeonwoo thought to herself. What else do you have in store?
"Really though," Hyebin says, "where did you guys learn how to play?"
Jane and Nancy looked at each other before the older one says, "Well, we grew up playing together - so I guess that's why we work well with one another."
Yeonwoo exchanges impressed grins with her teammate, "Alright, it's your serve. Show us what you got."
For a good hour, the four girls competitively played and all the sweat, diving, and calling got the attention of a crowd. People were taking sides, cheering, hollering, and betting on each team.
As they played, Yeonwoo still couldn't believe how good Nancy and Jane were. They liked to play dirty - setting tips, spiking to the side lines, and all kinds of tricks. There was this one move that Nancy made which definitely got Yeonwoo's interest over the top. She jumped and got ready to set Jane for a hit, but Yeonwoo failed to see her next move and Nancy spikes the ball down using her left hand - which many have a hard time doing. It was a difficult move even for Hyebin.
"Alright," Nancy pants as Yeonwoo took the ball for her serve. "Let's make things interesting. Let's play up to 10, and whoever loses has to do what the other team says for the rest of the day."
The way Nancy's sweat reflected off of her skin and the half-lidded look she had on her face made her look so dreamy. Yeonwoo couldn't stop staring at her - as well as the crowd of people all around them.
Everyone cheered in agreement to the bet.
Hyebin gladly stuck her hand under the net, "You got a deal."
The game was neck and neck, but once it got to 9-9, the girls agreed to ignore the two point rule. So, whoever got the last point, wins.
Once Nancy played her jump serve, Yeonwoo easily picked it up, and after teammate played a perfect set, Yeonwoo killed it into Jane's block, and just before the ball hit the sand, Nancy dove and pancaked it. Her save took Their opponents by surprise and Jane was able to set it high for Nancy.
It was Hyebin on the net with Yeonwoo ready to receive the hit.
When Nancy jumped in the air, everything played in slow motion. Jane stood back in case the ball was blocked, Yeonwoo stayed in the middle of their court, and the girls by the net jumped.
But instead of a hit, Nancy forcefully tips it down sharply across the length of the net - missing Hyebin's fingers. And although Yeonwoo dove for it, she just wasn't fast enough.
The ball touched the sand and the crowd went wild.
The two girls groaned in defeat, but when Yeonwoo lifted her head, she was met with Nancy's welcoming hand. She gladly accepted it and was hauled up.
Jane and Hyebin were laughing and talking together and as the rest of the girls came to crowd the four players, the people on the beach eagerly waited for the first favour the winners wanted.
"That was a really good game - I haven't sweated this much in a while," Yeonwoo pants out.
"Yeah, I have to say the same thing. You girls are really good," Hyebin smiles as she wraps her arm around her teammates shoulders.
Daisy suddenly speaks up, "honestly, this is the most excited I've felt while watching one of Nancy's challenges. Whenever we're at the beach, she always approaches guys and challenges them, and you guys are definitely the best we've seen."
The group of five chuckled and thanked Daisy for the compliment.
"Soooo, what's your first wish?" Yeonwoo sarcastically asked.
The four girls laughed and Nancy replies, "We'll let you know later. How about we grab lunch together or something?"
...
The nine of them walked together towards a small plaza just by the sand and they all settled for a burger place.
On their way to the plaza, Yeonwoo and Nancy just asked each other a bunch of questions and got a chance to know each other a little more.
"Are you in college or something?" Yeonwoo questions.
"Yes actually, I go to a private all girls college with those three," Nancy says as she points out her friends.
"Ah, and what are you studying?"
"I'm currently in for athletic therapy, but I honestly don't know what I want to do," Nancy says and goes to ask Yeonwoo what she's doing.
"I actually just graduated from an engineering program but I'm just enjoying life right now."
"Not in a rush for a job, huh?"
"Nah, I wanna travel a lot, have fun, and have nothing to worry about."
Nancy chuckles, "I get you. I wish life was like that for everyone."
Even through lunch, the two continued to talk and share stories about each other. The big group clicked really quickly and they all had a good time with one another. They played in the water, talked, exchanged numbers and social media, and continued to joke around.
Throughout the day, the winners asked for little things - get them drinks, rub sunscreen on their backs, and to buy them ice cream. But with each favour, Yeonwoo and Nancy felt this undeniable attraction towards one another and what used to be friendly conversation turned into light flirting sessions.
When it was time for the girls to depart, Nancy took Yeonwoo from the group and led her to a hidden place on the beach.
Both the girls couldn't stop laughing the whole day and continued to laugh on their way to the cave. The sunset gave the girls the beautiful golden glow and it definitely set the mood on what was going to happen next.
"Yeonwoo?"
"Mmm?"
"Kiss me."
The older girl looked at her in surprise, but didn't hesitate to close the gap between their lips. They kissed each other softly and playfully - eventually resulting in with Yeonwoo pinning Nancy against a cave wall. Her hands were tangled in the taller girl's hair and their make out session was very lighthearted with a touch of mischievousness.
When they finally pulled apart and composed themselves, their beating chests and red faces gave each of them another reason to laugh again.
Suddenly, Yeonwoo asks, "What direction are you heading?"
"South, towards the city, why?"
The girl smiles, "Come home with me?"
Nancy smiles and places a quick kiss on Yeonwoo's cheek, "I don't know babe, why should I trust you."
"Because I wanna have some fun. And it seems like you really know what you're doing," the girl says slyly.
"Mmm, I could use a break too."
Needless to say, they really showed each other what they were made of that night.
