One by one, black apparitions shot into the high, stone ceiling, disappearing from Genevieve's sight as they all spread the word of Grindlewald's innocence. They were telling the wizard world it was not them who were dangerous... It was the Aurors.
In the meanwhile, Grindlewald was descending the stairs toward his stage, his spot light. There he appeared intimidating yet respectable as he suddenly spelled:
"Protego diabolica".
In an instant, he span with his wand curling into the air. His movements were calculated and graceful as a protective circle of blue flames surrounded his platform. In minutes, many of his followers stepped through the fire as Genevieve shivered in fright. She was determined to follow her leader yet her phobia of the flames held her back against Credence and Nagini. The Obscurial could feel Genevieve's obvious fear as she buried her back into his chest. Was this how she felt when she held the frightened boy?
"Aurors, join me in this circle-" Grindlewald beckoned, his voice grand, "- pledge to me your eternal allegiance... Or die. Only here shall you know freedom, only here shall you know yourself".
Genevieve's and Credence's chests both swelled with hope. Freedom, identity; Grindlewald promised it all as he sent whips of flames to assault the fleeing Aurors.
"Play by the rules! No cheating, children" the dark wizard proceeded to warned as Nagini quickly grabbed at the couple's wrists. She was trying to drag them away while a horror manifested against her humming heart. The maledictus just wanted the pair to return to her side... But their eyes were transfixed on Grindlewald.
"He knows who I am" Credence announced, his tone suddenly confident as Genevieve pulled him into her side. Nagini captured a look of victory glazing her eyes.
"He knows what you were born, not who you are..." she announced with a quiver in her voice. Yet, Genevieve's pull was too strong. With a smile -which scarily matched Grindlewald's- the witch pulled her lover toward the blue flames. She allowed the fire to disintegrate her fear as Newt called after the Obscurial.
When they finally stepped through and were free of Nagini's right grip. The couple both came out the other side, beside Grindlewald- unscathed. Their loyalty to his words kept them safe against the heat.
When they reached the dark wizard, Genevieve flashed a knowing smile toward the white-haired man before he pulled the couple into his embrace. In one stone he had captured two powerful birdies. Like prodigal children, he held them close.
"This has all been for you, Credence" The man confessed against the backdrop of death.
"It is good to see you again, Grindlewald" Genevieve then greeted, receiving a genuine smile from the powerful wizard. She was his secret favourite.
"You too my child... You know where to go".
And with a slight giggle, Genevieve wrapped her arms tightly around Credence and apparated to Nurmengard castle in Austria. There, they could finally express themselves and taste liberty. Their dreams were only a teleportation away.
Genevieve and Credence had finally done it... Him and her; together forever and ever.
