~~~ Hey guys, sorry about the long wait. I have not had time to work on this story as I have been busy with school, but I hope that this short chapter helps make up for it. I hope you are enjoying this story, and feel free to leave feedback. Hope you enjoy this chapter and have a good day! ~~~
He mustered up his best puppy dog eyes and noticed that they immediately had their intended effect because Cao Cao gave him the same gentle look that he always did when agreeing to his schemes. Cao Cao tried to avert his eyes to lessen the effect that they had on him, but Xun Yu was just too cute. He felt his resolve slowly weakening, and he was powerless to stop it. With a sigh, he finally agreed to Xun Yu's request.
"If it will make you happy, then I will do this with you." Cao Cao stated, taking one of Xun Yu's hands in his. It was soft, like silk.
Xun Yu's eyes immediately lit up with joy upon hearing the man's words.
"Yes, this will make me very happy. Thank you so much Cao-ah." Xun Yu said as he smiled and took his hand out of Cao Cao's, embracing the man in a tight hug before releasing him.
Cao Cao smiled to himself. Cao-ah? What did I do to deserve being called such an endearing term? He just keeps getting cuter and cuter as each day goes by. How did I ever get so lucky?
"I am glad that this will make you happy, but do I need to wear anything specific? And when would be a good time to visit him?" Cao Cao asked.
He did not want to leave a bad first impression on Xun Yu's father, especially not when he didn't have any plans of giving up the feelings of love that he harbored for Xun Yu.
Xun Yu examined the man. He didn't know why he looked the man up and down when he knew that his father did not care about someone's clothing. In fact, his father was more concerned with someone's character than their appearance, but, for some reason, Xun Yu looked him over anyway.
"What you have on is fine. My father cares more about someone's character and willingness to learn rather than their appearance. He has taught me that excellent character, patience, kindness, and intelligence are the qualities of a great man since I could first speak. If you are in the mood, we could go and meet him right now. My father always loves it when people visit him." Xun Yu said.
Cao Cao smiled at Xun Yu, causing him to blush. Great, now he probably thinks that I was born with calligraphy and a book in my hand. That isn't far from the truth, but I don't want him to think that that is all I have ever known. Cao Cao noticed that Xun Yu had spaced out, so he softly whispered the man's name to try and get his attention. It worked. Xun Yu regained his focus and blushed, embarrassed that he had allowed himself to drift off in thought. Cao Cao gave him a questioning look but decided not to question him about it.
"I wouldn't mind meeting your father today, but are you sure that it is okay if we show up uninvited? I feel like that would be rude, at least in my circumstances, since he has never met me before." Cao Cao stated. He really did not want to leave a bad first impression.
Xun Yu smiled happily and took one of Cao Cao's hands in his.
"It will be fine. Please Mengde, I promise that he won't mind." Xun Yu said.
Xun Yu felt elated. It was the first time that he was going to see his father in a while and, to make it even better, Cao Cao was coming with him. He could hardly contain his excitement, but he managed to hold it in as his eyes lit up with joy. He desperately hoped that his father would like Cao Cao, not just because he was in love with him, but also because Cao Cao's father was murdered a few years ago. The incident hurt him deeply and he spent a long time mourning his loss. He was drowning in terrible grief and wanted nothing more than to suffer alone, in silence; however, he was eventually able to overcome his grief. Xun Yu cleared his head of negative thoughts and smiled warmly at Cao Cao, hoping that he would agree to meet his father.
"If you are certain that he won't be bothered, then I will go with you to meet him." Cao Cao stated.
He smiled at Xun Yu, who now seemed to radiate joy from his very being.
"Thank you so much Mengde. Let's go." Xun Yu replied brightly.
And thus the two began their brief journey to see Xun Yu's father.
