I'm packing up some stuff quickly when my best friend notices the rush. "Where are you heading off to in such a hurry?" they ask, a hint of worry in their voice.

I stop for a moment, meeting their gaze. "I'm going to visit the humans," I say with a heavy heart. "There's something wrong, something evil brewing, and I can sense it. They might not be aware, but they're in danger, and I can't just stand by. I have to go down there and protect them."

"Can I come? It's no fair, father lets you do whatever you please!" she exclaims, her voice a mix of envy and jest.

I chuckle at her pouting face and give her a reassuring smile. "Well, I was the one who helped create them. Plus, we aren't related, remember? We're more like close friends," I remind her gently.

She turns her head away, letting out a sigh, the playful spark still lingering in her eyes. "Just remember I'll always be there if you need me, Y/N," she says, her tone sincere.

She tilts her head and shoots me a thumbs up, her way of saying she's got my back. Nodding in appreciation, I step through the gate, making my way down to Earth, ready for whatever awaits.

—-

Landing on the ground with one knee, I slowly rise to my feet and look around the area.

I find myself on top of a hill, which offers a panoramic view of the village below. The wind begins to pick up, sending my hair into a wild dance around my face. Quickly, I tie it back, securing it away from my eyes. Looking down, I see the villagers bustling about, their movements hinting at preparations for some event.

In my thoughts, I muse, Hmm, everyone seems to be getting ready for something. I should probably change into something less... intimidating.

Glancing down at my attire, I see the familiar gleam of my goddess armor. The white shirt paired with a metal crop armor hugging it, the short metal skirt, the metal boots climbing up to my mid-thigh, and the finishing touch of two golden bracelets, one adorning each wrist.

I should keep my weapons on me though....

My sword, Chikra*, was a beautiful broadsword. The hilt was of a fine gold and white color whilst the actual sword itself was black. If you were to look closely you'd be able to see words transcribed onto the hilt, it was faint, but the meaning was deep and powerful. And when using it to fight, that's when you saw it's true glory, every time it would strike down its enemy Chikra would seem to glow. My baby never missed her target. It was truly a beautiful sword.

Not only did I have a sword but a few hidden daggers , one being hidden under my skirt on my thigh and as well as one in both of my boots. Color wise, they were a match to Chikra. I like to keep things matching and simple.

Tucking my broadsword back into its sheath, as well as my daggers. I begin to close my eyes while murmuring a small spell to help change my appearance.

With a subtle shift, my distinctive eyes—one gold and the other a light purple with golden sparkles—transitioned to a different, yet equally striking color.

I found myself clad in an outfit more fitting for an earthly lifestyle: black pants, a black crop top, and black combat boots. The simplicity and singular color scheme were exactly my preference.

Without altering the color of my hair, I embarked on my descent to the village, ready to explore and interact with the locals.

"Hello there mam! You look new around here , need any help ?" Nodding my head, he leads me to a house that almost looked to be falling apart. Leading me up the stairs to the front door, I stand stiffly behind the man while inching my hand slowly to where I kept my weapons.

"Oh, don't worry! I was actually just gonna talk to my wife to see if you could stay at the house by the flower field!" he said, holding his arms out and opening the door. He led me to a room that seemed to be in top shape—no speck of dust in sight. However, the walls were lined with weapons, and there were traps scattered around the house. I couldn't help but wonder what they were protecting themselves from.

"And who is this, Jerald?" A tall lady with short black hair asked, clearly the wife.

Jerald explained everything to his wife, even though they didn't know me. I mean, I literally just walked into the village, and they were already offering me a home. It seemed a bit questionable.

"Great news, you can stay at the house by the field! But unfortunately, it's also surrounded by trees and a few creatures," Jerald chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of his neck.

"It's alright, I'm fine with the woods, and I can easily defend myself. Also, if I'm correct, we didn't get to completely meet each other. My name is y/n," I introduced myself, shaking hands with Jerald.

"Oh, uh, it's no problem! We're a helpful village to all who travel here. It also looked like you would be staying here for a while from the looks of your bag," Jerald pointed out, gesturing towards my bags. I huffed internally. It was a quick assumption to think I must be a good person. For all they knew, I could've been a serial killer on the loose.

"But as you know, my name is Jerald, and this is my wife Karima. We actually have a daughter who is running somewhere in the village. She's 6," Jerald introduced himself and his wife, pointing out their daughter's whereabouts.

"Which way is the house exactly?" I questioned, eager to settle in.

"Oh, I'll show you, and no need to carry your things. I'll just quickly grab the horses, and we can load everything up and ride there," Jerald offered, indicating that he would take care of the transportation.

I met Jerald outside and took in the surrounding houses. Some appeared to be on the verge of collapse, while others were well-maintained. The atmosphere seemed tense, with a group of people gathered around a blacksmith shop, engaged in a heated argument.

"- We have to fight them devils before we all-" one man's voice was abruptly cut off by another, who hushed him.

"Well, here we go," I muttered to myself, slightly startled by the commotion. I quickly composed myself and began loading my belongings onto the horse, mirroring Jerald's actions.

"I overheard some villagers talking about fighting devils and arguing about their weapons. What's that all about?" I inquired, curious about the situation.

"Oh, that? Nothing to be concerned about. There are rumors going around that a demon portal opened in Camelot, so everyone's just scared that there'll be a war soon," Jerald explained, downplaying the situation.

Yea because a demon portal opening definitely isn't nothing to be concerned about

"Don't worry, nothing will happen to ya! We got some of the best fighters! And they are just rumors anyway. And if a demon portal WAS open, they would've destroyed Camelot then!" Jerald reassured me, his hand moving up and down in a comforting gesture. He seemed to be trying to convince himself as much as he was trying to reassure me.

"Is that why I even saw some kids practicing fighting? I even saw parents explain to them how to hold a sword," I mentioned, expressing my concern. But despite the circumstances, I didn't sense any negative energy. If there had been an open portal, I would have felt it.

"Yeah," Jerald sighed, looking down. "The whole town is making their children learn how to fight. We need all the people we can get. Humans fighting demons, we have no chance." He seemed burdened by the weight of the situation, closing his eyes as he held onto the reins.

"Just because you're humans doesn't mean you won't win. And there are people out there willing to fight for you all," I said, trying to offer some encouragement. I kept my gaze fixed ahead on the path, avoiding direct eye contact with the old man.

"Well, a holy knight went to go check out Camelot himself, and if he doesn't come back by the end of the week, then the rumors are true. Even if he does come back, we'll have to wait and hear what he says. Let's pray it ain't true," Jerald shared, his voice tinged with worry.

So either way you all will panic. Nice

Sighing he looked down to his horse and back up. I could see the sadness in his eyes, he was desperate for help, for someone to save them.

"If those demons dare to breach our world, I swear on my life, they will meet their end by my hand. Not one will be spared." That was a promise. He looked at me in disbelief , but I ignored it and continued forward.

The sun was beginning its descent as we arrived at the edge of a sprawling flower field, the vibrant colors a stark contrast to the encroaching dusk. The old man pulled the reins, bringing the horse to a gentle stop. "Well, this is the place," he said, gesturing towards a quaint cottage in the distance, its silhouette partially obscured by the dense treeline.

"It's a bit of a walk to town, so you can keep the horse," he continued, his voice tinged with a mix of apology and reassurance. "Also, I apologize that it's surrounded by trees, but it's at least on the flower field." His eyes met mine, earnest and firm, conveying a silent promise of safety. "If anything happens, just run to town."

I took a moment to survey the surroundings, the wild beauty of the place settling into my bones. "Oh! And there are a few creatures out here. So it's best to stay inside once the sun sets. There are a few traps out here, so look where you step too," he warned, a note of concern threading through his words.

Nodding my head, I jumped down from the horse, my boots sinking slightly into the soft earth. I made my way into my new home, the scent of wildflowers accompanying me as I walked.

"Don't worry about me, like I said, I can take care of myself," I called back over my shoulder, a smile playing on my lips. I felt a sense of adventure stirring within me, a readiness for whatever lay ahead.

After a quick exchange of goodbyes, he turned the horse around and rode back into town, leaving me to the quiet solitude of the flower field and the secrets it held. The door to the cottage creaked open, welcoming me to this dust filled home.

——

"Hey there, Hawk! How are you doing?" I greeted my black cat as I gently petted his head. He purred in response, clearly enjoying the attention.

"Feeling a bit famished" Hawk suddenly spoke, surprising me. I nodded and headed to the kitchen to prepare his dinner, chuckling at his playful hunger.

"This new house is pretty nice, but I haven't had a chance to fully explore yet. I'm so hungry that I might not make it far!" He joked, sitting down next to Hawk and giving him a playful look.

"Oh, really? Maybe I should just starve you and make a sandwich out of you, mmhhh, a cat sandwich " I teased, causing Hawk to cry out and run in circles on the floor. Laughing, I grabbed his plate of food and set it down for him.

As we settled down, I couldn't help but share my concerns with Hawk. "I have a feeling that a holy war is brewing, possibly within the year. If the Gate to hell has truly opened, those demons will need souls to power up quickly. We need to stay on guard until then."

Feeling the need for some more knowledge, I made my way to the library in the house. It was more like a secret room I had created to house all my books and treasures. I picked up a brown leather book from the shelf and settled at one of the small tables.

Hawk jumped onto the table, curious about my findings. "Wait, how? Weren't the gates sealed a while ago?" he asked, his eyes filled with curiosity.

"Clearly, the King himself had something to do with it. It seems like God was right, the Devil probably had a hand in creating the Ten Commandments," I replied, feeling the weight of the situation.

"I believe a war is imminent. All creatures will have to come together to fight off the demons, but we can't be too sure," I continued, flipping through the pages that detailed the demons' fighting techniques. I stumbled upon some disturbing pictures and quickly closed the book, feeling a sense of unease.

"Goodnight, Hawk. I have a feeling that we're in for a long few months ahead," I said, as we both settled into bed, unaware of the challenges that awaited us.
