Chapter 2: Percy's a Wizard?

His mother had sat quietly throughout the entire conversation. Albus had explained everything to Percy from Tom deciding he wanted more power to him killing Lily and James Potter to 'The Boy Who Lived' and the scar on his forehead. He explained the sorceror's stone and the chamber of secrets, as well as Harry's godfather, who's thought of as a bad guy, even though he's one of the good guys. Lastly, he explained the TriWizard Tournament and the Order of the Phoenix.

"It had been created when Voldemort had been running around the first time It disbanded when we thought Voldemort had died. But now that the evil team has been reformed, so has the Order of the Phoenix. I'd like you to become a member of the Order and protect Harry. Now that we know Voldemort's very much alive, I'd appreciate more protection around him."

Percy took a moment to process everything the old man-wizard had said. "But why me? You could just get more wizards to guard him. Why have me do it? I'm just a demigod. I can't exactly fight wizards when I can't even cast a spell."

Percy heard his mom hold back a sob, and he already understood the gist of why he had been chosen by piecing together the conversation his mom and Albus were having earlier and the way she didn't seem at all surprised there was a wizarding world.

"Let me guess. My mom's actually a wizard. Not just some random mortal who can see through the Mist."

Albus smiled slightly and said, "Yes."

"And so that means, that I'm also a wizard then?"

"Yes."

"Then how come I didn't find out til now? I should have gotten a letter when I was 11 like everyone else, shouldn't I have?"

Albus and my mom shared a look and finally my mom spoke up. "The letter arrived while you were away, still at school. I sent a letter back on your behalf and declined." I stared at her for a moment, not understanding why she would make a decision like that on my behalf. "Percy, you have to understand. There's great darkness surrounding the wizarding world because of my--because of Voldemort and his choices and decisions. I didn't want you to grow up in an environment filled with war and mayhem, though it ended up happening anyways. I just wanted to protect you."

"But that wasn't a decision for you to make. I should have decided if I wanted to be a part of that world or not."

"But you would have had to deal with the stress of the war in the wizarding world as well as the two wars you fought in. There are a lot of things you don't understand regarding the war and Tom, I mean Voldemort."

"Then make me understand. Why'd you leave? Why--"

"Please don't make me answer anymore questions regarding this subject. I'll tell you when the time's right, but for now, I need you to understand that these are dangerous people and you don't deserve to be a part of another war."

There was silence, until Chiron spoke up for the first time throughout the entire conversation. "Percy, you are in no way obligated to accept ths as another one of your quests since you haven't been a part of the wizarding world all your life. However, if you were to accept Albus' offer, it would count as a quest. You would receive only a little help from camp and you'd potentially be alone defending yourself as well as Mr. Potter."

Percy processed what Chiron said, but he turned away from him, looking at his mom. "You were a wizard?" A weak nod of the head. "I'm a wizard?" Another weak nod. "Does Paul know?"

"No. I didn't tell him, since I thought I left that world behind completely ages ago. If you accepted the quest, though, I'd tell him what I am and what that makes you."

"How long would this task take?"

"I'm not entirely sure. It could be one year or three years; Depends on how long it takes to find a way to finally defeat Voldemort."

There was another moment of silence as Percy thought everything through. "How would I even defend Harry when I don't know the simplest of spells. I doubt I'd be able to use Abra Kadabra or Open Sesame correctly even if I did try."

The twinkle in the old man's eyes brightened for a moment. "Yes well, if you did accept the task, I have all the spell books you would have normally learned during the school years at Hogwartsm but I'll give you the spell books for all 7 years, so you can choose your own pace and learn the spells as you see fit. I'd also provide additional books that might better explain the history of the wizarding world and terms that are often used when referring to certain things."

Everyone looked at him, expecting his answer. Percy knew long before he'd started asking for more of the details what his answer would be. This would be the perfect distraction from everything else. "I'd still be allowed to visit the camp on a regular basis, as well as mom and others whenever I need to, right?"

Sally sighed in defeat, resting her head against the backrest of the chair. Chiron made no comment, unsure of how this quest would turn out. Albus smiled brightly, knowing that the young boy in front of him had agreed to take on this important task. "Of course. I can teach you how to apparate so that you can travel anywhere you want when you need to. Though you'll need to make sure Harry's safe during the time you're gone."

"But of course."

The old man smiled before waving his wand slightly, causing several stacks of books to appear on the table int he Big House. Percy groaned and said, "You agree to help save the world again, and how does the world repay you? By giving you books to read!"

Albus smiled at the boys' antics and said, "I'll be back tomorrow in the morning to teach you how to apparate. Make sure you're packed and ready to go in three days. In the mean time, I need to make sure the rest are expecting you so they don't kill you on sight."

"Wouldn't be the first time someone wanted to."

With that the old man left, leaving Percy, his mom, and Chiron alone in the Big House. Sally rose to her feet, pulling her car keys out from her back pocket. "Please think this through carefully, Percy. I won't stop you, but I will go with you when you visit the Order so that I know you're in good hands."

Percy nodded and hugged his mom before she left to drive back to their new house, which was only an hour drive from camp. Not to mention it was bigger than before, so the newest addition to the family would have his or her own room, too.

Percy looked at Chiron. "Do you think I made the right choice by accepting this quest?"

Chiron pondered the thought for a moment before saying, "I'm not entirely sure. I guess we'll all find out as the quest unfolds. Perhaps you should pay Rachel a visit to see if she has a prophecy regarding this quest. Though I doubt there will be a second prophecy regarding the matter."

"There's already one prophecy?"

"Yes. But for now, I think you should get these books to your cabin and begin figuring out how you'll back everything up to take with you. And, ah yes, I'd like to hear the details on how the quest to retrieve Maxon went, though I hear you got more than you bargained for."

Percy smiled slightly, though it was nowhere near the troublemaker grin he'd give everyone before the wars, and began to recount what happened on the quest. And as he talked about his old quest, he thought about his new one and what could possibly happen along the way.

Not to mention the fact that he jsut learned he's a wizard who's going to be moving to Britain to defend some guy with a scar Zeus would appreciate and probably brag about for ages against some other evil dude who must have some serious issues to change his name into something that sounded like 'moldy wart' or whatever. I mean, what's wrong with Tom? It sounded perfectly normal and--

Curse his ADHD mind. He had a task to focus on. He had to protect someone, which meant he'd need to leanr all those spells. Which meant he'd have to actually read through all those books and suffer through the dyslexic pains that would come with it.

Even though he'd faced monsters and wars, Percy was more concerned about the mental damage that wouuld be left after he finished reading all those books.

Gods, what had he gotten himself into this time?

So, there's another chapter update. I know, I know. Two chapters in two days. How awesome am I?

Because I just started this story, I have all these ideas in my head which I'm trying to put into chapters before I lsoe my train of thought. Though, after probably another chapter or two, I'll slow down my updating, since my school will also start by then. I'll try and get a chapter or two in before next week (which is when my school starts up).

How does the cover look? I put it together after writing this chapter, so let me know if it looks good or if I could have made it better.

How was that chapter? Any ideas on why Sally left the wizarding world and what that slip up was about when she talked about Voldemort?
