"My brothers." I said, realizing that I just called Kyle my brother. Which, he basically is.
Everyone nods, understanding.
"So... you came all this way to tell me something you could've said over the phone?" Dylan questions.
I hold up the black bag that is still in my hand.
I walk over to where he is sitting and I hand him the bag.
"Happy birthday, Dyl." I said as I give him a small hug and I walk over to where I was standing before.
"You did not have to get me anything, you shouldn't have." Dylan said, looking at the bag in front of him.
"Open it." I said.
Dylan smiles before slowly taking the white tissue paper out.
As he took out another piece, his jaw dropped.
"No..." he says in disbelief.
I smile.
"You didn't." He says, continuing to remove the white paper.
His jaw drops.
"Kaytlyn, you didn't!" He exclaims.
"What is it?" Darren questions.
Dylan picks up the jacket out of the bag.
Everyone made their own, surprised sound.
"Kaytlyn, how did you... where did you... what?!" Dylan says excitedly.
He stands up and puts it on.
"An absolutely, perfect fit!" Dylan exclaims.
I smiled at him as he walked over and brought me into a huge hug.
"Thank you so much!" He says.
"No problem, I didn't think it to be such a big deal." I say, slightly laughing.
He lets go of me and looks right at my eyes.
"It's expensive, and it means a lot to me that you would spend so much money and time to find this." He tells me.
I smiled at him.
"You can't put a price on friendship." I said.
"Not now, you've gone over the limit." Dylan jokes.
We all laughed, and I looked over at Hunter.
He was slightly, very slightly, letting out a breathy chuckle.
But he just barely was.
I gave him a questioning look.
But we were interrupted by Darren.
"Kay, do you wanna stay for some cake? We would really like that."
I smiled but then said,
"Sorry, but I should probably be getting home."
"Oh come on, you can't just bring me a ten thousand dollar jacket and leave." Dylan says sarcastically, although I knew he was somewhat serious.
"Please tell me that was not ten thousand dollars." Darren begged.
"No, of course it wasn't." I assured him.
"But actually, Kay, will you stay for a bit?" Dylan asked, with a look in his eyes that was saying pleaaaaase.
I sighed in defeat before answering.
"Just for a little bit though, and I'm not having cake."
"Oh why not, it's good." Darren tells me.
I chuckled,
"I am trying to be healthy."
"Well then," Dylan started, "why don't we go and buy all of the kale that the grocery store has, just for Kaytlyn when she decides to show up to our house." Dylan jokes.
I glare at him.
He gives me the 'sorry, not sorry' look.
"How do you say no to good stuff?" Jax questions from the other end of the table as I sit down in the seat beside Dylan.
I shrugged,
"I've just never had a huge loving for sweets and pastries."
Jax sends a weird expression my way before joining in the groups new topic which I think was about getting grey hair.
I began to get a little bored so I rested my head on Dylan's shoulder. Although, I do enjoy listening more than talking.
He didn't even move, he just found it normal I guess.
But one thing.
Hunter didn't like it.
He sat across the table from me, and he was glaring between me and Dylan. Like a death glare. His jaw clenched.
I was quite comfortable where I was, but I didn't want to make Hunter upset so I lifted my head off of Dylan's shoulder and I began listening to their conversation once again.
"So, how have you been healing up?" Darren asks me, cutting off the conversation the gang was having before.
"Good, I feel perfectly fine." I answered.
"That's good to hear." Dylan says.
"Why?" I questioned.
"Well because, we were worried that you would be crippled." Dylan tells me.
I chuckle.
"I've been through worse." I stated with a following chuckle.
Everyone kind of froze.
"Like what?" Hunter asks, as the first thing he has said since I've gotten here.
"You know, just the sports injuries and stuff like that." I told them.
"Kaytlyn, you didn't spend too much money on Dylan, did you?" Darren questions, breaking the subject.
I moved my chair forward, instead of me sitting on the edge of it and I move my right knee up to my chest.
"No, of course not. I knew he wouldn't accept it if it was too much." I told him.
Dylan smiles,
"You know me too well."
"That I do." I said with a smile, before continuing,
"Why does the money and the cost matter so much?"
"Well, if it were to be very expensive, we would feel that we would need to pay you back. And of course, knowing that you wouldn't take it, we would continue to try." Darren said.
I gave him a questioning look,
"I don't care about the money that I spend, and I already am smart with my money."
"You should, you want to be smart with money in the future. Don't wanna waste it all now." Jax said, cutting Darren out.
"I think that I will be okay with money." I said with a goofy smile.
Darren gives me a questioning look.
I took my iPhone out of my pocket and held it up,
"This company is a Flores company."
(I am aware that in the real world, Steve Jobs invented Apple and that someone new owns it now, but I thought that it would be a good company name for the Flores to own due to the amount of money that they have.)
Their jaws drop.
"L-like as in, these?" Dylan stutters, grabbing his Jet-Black iPhone.
"Yes." I say while nodding my head.
"Just in America? Or..." Dylan says, trailing off.
"World wide, why do you think my parents are never home?" I told the gang.
"Makes sense." Hunter said, keeping his sentences very short.
I shrugged.
"We would still pay you back." Darren assured me.
I shook my head.
"No, I feel that I am paying you guys back." I said.
Darren frowned in confusion.
"Paying us back? For what?" Dylan questioned.
"Saving my life."
