Back when I was
a fifth-grader,
I remembered
how conscientious
my teacher was during
her discussion about
grammatical tense.
She said,
is must be changed into was
and
are should be were.
It didn't make sense
during that time though,
not
until
I met you.
And not
until
you left me.
If only I could
change the direction
of our love's fate,
I would've kept ours
to be "are."
But everytime
I see you with her,
reality rushes back
with painful ecstasy.
