I BREATHED IN deeply before dialling Doyeon's number. Jieqiong told me to not help her. Susundin ko ang sinabi niya, after all I know her more than Doyeon. I'm not judging her pero mas malaki ang tiwala ko kay Jieqiong.
"Why did you call?" tanong ni Doyeon sa kabilang linya.
"Hello! Ano kasi, last letter na yung ibibigay ko kay Lucas ngayon. Sorry, Doyeon."
"Why? I didn't tell you to stop yet."
I chewed on my lower lip as I couldn't think of a response. Hindi ko naman pwedeng sabihin kay Doyeon na iiwasan ko na siya dahil sinabi ni Jieqiong. Madadamay pa siya.
"I don't want to lie to Lucas anymore."
"I'm not taking that excuse. You'll continue your task. Make sure Lucas buys your stupid letters." she said, ending the call.
I furrowed my brows in confusion. Stupid letters?
Ilalagay ko na sana ang letter sa locker ni Lucas nang makita ko siya sa harapan ko. "Lucas!"
"Those letters were from Doyeon?"
I slowly nodded my head. I lowered my head timidly because of embarrassment.
I was taken aback when Lucas suddenly snatched the letter from my hand. He breathed in deeply as he tore the letter apart.
All of a sudden I felt scared. Parang bumalik ang dating Lucas na nakilala ko.
My voice was shaking when I called out his name, "L-Lucas."
He slammed his fist on the locker and I almost dropped on the floor because of fear. I shut my eyes and I didn't notice that I was crying already.
"Lucas, I didn't mean to hide this from you. I just couldn't say no. I'm sorry, Lucas. Sorry." I said in between my sobs. I dropped my knees down on the floor because I was losing energy.
"You're much more important to me, Yuqi. I'm sorry if I scared you." I looked up to see Lucas staring at me softly. He kneeled down and hugged me. He wiped my tears away using his thumb right after.
"I'm really sorry." I said once again. Biglang tumawa si Lucas. "It's alright. Tara, ililibre kita ng ice cream."
"All of a sudden?" tanong ko.
"You like ice cream?" he asked and I nodded.
"That's why I'm treating you!"
"Bakit?"
"Hindi pwedeng si Winwin lang manlibre sa'yo." may binulong si Lucas at hindi ko naman ito masyadong narinig. "Hm?"
"Wala! Sabi ko tumayo ka na diyan o ikaw magbabayad sa ice cream." sabi ni Lucas at bigla na lang tumakbo. "Ayoko! Wala akong pera!"
