I think it's pretty obvious that I'm not taking requests anymore - not because I don't want to, but whenever I try I just...can't. It seems I can only write a OneShot well if it's my own idea.
Saying this, someone gave me a request in the early hours of the morning, and it intrigued me - so I changed the idea bit to fit into something that I would want to write.
So, just a little explanation for you all.
And I'm really hungry, by the way.

"Well, well, well!"
Virgil closed his locker with a dead expression after hearing that all-familiar voice. Maybe if he hit his head against the metal hard enough he could block it out. "Look who it is" turning his head, he spotted Roman leaning on the locker beside him, a smirk drawing on his lips. Virgil cocked an eyebrow, finding him and his group of jocks/prissy princesses to not be intimidating in the slightest.
On his first day here, they made sure to let him know they ruled over this damn school; some of the other outcasts tried to warn Virgil to not respond and wait until their torment was over - but that wasn't how he rolled. Yes, he hated attention, yes, he could probably cry if someone insulted him enough, and yes, he was currently terrified of what they could do. But they wouldn't do that, they weren't that stupid - even so, Virgil's best friend he liked to call his worst nightmare; aka, his Anxiety, wouldn't let him off the hook so easily.
However, Virgil had gotten pretty good at pretending to not give a shit.
"Have you finished my homework?" The regal looking boy questioned while glancing at his nails. Rolling his eyes, Virgil went into his bag and took out the homework he half-assed. "Here, you royal pain in the ass" Roman's eyes narrowed instantly at his quip, some of his friends from behind calling out a few insults in response, but Roman held his hand up to shush them.
"Leave him" Roman eventually demanded after analysing Virgil's face after awhile. "You're no fun, Roman!" A girl moaned in disapproval, crossing her arms across her chest. Roman sent her a smirk and a light shrug. "Don't worry, I have something planned for our little emo outcast" he replied back ominously, giving Virgil one last grin before he and his friends sauntered down the hallway.
Virgil relaxed against his locker, heart hammering rapidly in his chest. Fuck - had planned?! What did that Prince-like idiot mean!? Was he going to fight him? Beat him up? Fuck! Now he really wished he did a better job on that homework. Biting his lip harshly, he contemplated going straight home to avoid what Roman was going to do, but then he realised he couldn't go home - both his parents were at work, and if he were to go somewhere, it would have to be his grandmothers, and whenever he's over there he doesn't hear the end of her ranting and raging about teenagers and the fact he wears makeup.
Shrugging his bag onto his shoulders, he scurried down to his class, praying Roman might forget whatever he wanted to do, or it wouldn't be as bad as he is imagining.
Throughout the day he was on edge, unable to stop glancing over his shoulder every so often, finding himself hiding in crowds whenever Roman and his posse would pass. Luckily, he didn't have any classes with Roman the entire day; apart from last lesson. He wondered what kind of humiliating act Roman was going to pull on him while trudging through the quiet hallway to his class - maybe he should just skip, even if he'd be given a detention, anything is better than having an entire class laugh at you.
Opening the door, he silently slipped through the students to his seat, glad that the lesson hadn't started, so people were more focused on their trivial conversations than anything else. This particular class he had a project due at the end of this week - unfortunately he was paired with the all-famous Roman of all people, so he had to do most of the work, but was pleasantly surprised to be given some things from Roman when he passed by in previous lessons; seems like he wouldn't want Virgil to do all the work.
While scribbling some notes on a piece of paper, he tensed when Roman's face came into his eyesight. The boy was leaning on his desk, staring at him with his annoyingly attractive smug smile. "I think we should meet up after school for the project, don't you?" He spoke sultry, sliding a folded note across to him. Virgil hesitantly picked it up, noticing it was Roman's address. Of course. It was the richer side of town.
"I expect to see you there at six, dear emo nightmare" he whispered, sending him a wink before twirling on his feet and gliding back to his friends. Virgil finally let out a breath he was holding, staring at the paper in his shaking hands. He was worried. Really worried. The thing about Roman is he was pretty secret about his life outside of school - never had any of Roman's friends gone to the boys house, and even if he was the richest boy in the school, he had never hosted a party at his home.
So, to Virgil's understanding, he was currently the only boy to know Roman's address.
Should he leak it?
Although that thought crosses his mind, he goes against it, and stuffs the address into his pocket inside. He didn't like Roman, that was obvious, but he wouldn't stoop down to that level and break his trust that Roman obviously placed on him; besides, all Roman has ever done was forced him to do his homework; they do share a few insults often, but never something that could sting - his friends did much worse, but most of the time Roman stopped them from doing worse.
So...was Roman really a bad guy? He was a dick, that's for sure; he wad cocky, arrogant, and wanted everything to go his way, but when it came to people, maybe he wasn't so evil.
After school, Virgil was sitting on his bed, staring at the paper in his hands. It was nearing six o'clock, and he contemplated whether or not to go. He still didn't know what Roman "had planned" so it was a high possibility something was going to go down in his house - maybe he secretly invited all his friends and they were going to record him when Roman pulled the prank or something? Ugh. His anxiety was really scraping the bottom of the barrel at this point.
A few moments later, the front door opened and he heard the flowing light laughter from his mother. He smiled slightly and headed down the staircase with the project neatly placed in his bag. He saw his mom leaning up to peck his dads lips, murmuring something only he could hear before turning to her son, smile brightening when he saw her.
"Virgil, guess what" she wriggled her eyebrows at her son who smiled in confusion. "Your fathers finally taking me for a date!" She squealed, throwing her arms up in the air. From the room over, they both heard said father reply.
"I take you for dates all the time!"
"Chuck. E. Cheese doesn't count!" She called back, shaking her head. Noticing his bag, she rose an eyebrow, "going out, are we? Well, stay safe, baby" leaning up, she kissed his forehead lovingly before hurrying into the living room. His parents burst into conversation and he smiled; he loved them both dearly. Maybe if something were to happen, he could tell them and they could do something about it.
He trusted them to tell them everything, so he would definitely confide in them when he came back.
Hoping on the bus, he plugged in his earphones and hazily stared at the blurry scenery outside. He was focused on his thoughts and fighting 'what ifs' all about Roman and his plan. He might be worrying too much, and whatever he was going to pull won't be severely bad, and if it was he could find some blackmail to get him back with?
Ugh. He didn't know.
The bus stopped at his destination and he hurriedly jumped off, gazing across the tall, three story houses that lined both streets until he spotted Roman's house right on the end. Breathing in deeply, he played the lyrics of the song through his mind to possibly block out the raging worries, but as soon as he reached the front door he froze.
He wasn't late. It was exactly six pm.
For minutes, he would raise his hand to knock, but back out last minute because he was too scared. He thought about leaving, but when a chipper voice sounded behind him, he felt his heart drop to his stomach. "Hey, Kiddo!" The voice said. Turning his head, he spotted a man with a blue polo shirt, beige khakis, and a grey cardigan resting on his shoulders.
"You must be Roman's friend!" He exclaimed in excitement, quickly unlocking the door. "He doesn't get visits often, he did where we used to live but when he found out they were using him for his money he never let anyone over again..." he frowned a little, but smiled again not a moment too soon. "Ah, look at me, rambling! But hey, if he invited you over, he must really like you" He giggled, lifting his hand up to wave. "I'm Patton!"
Virgil, a little overwhelmed by the man, stuttered in response. "V-Virgil..."
"Awh! Cute" tapping his nose, Patton opened the door and rushed inside. "Logy Bear!" He called throughout the house. Awkwardly, Virgil stepped inside, replaying Patton's words over in his mind. 'Must really like you'. Roman couldn't possibly like him...could he? This is only for the project, nothing else, certainly not a blossoming friendship.
Closing the door, he lifted his eyes to spot Patton in the arms of another man, sharing a long kiss. The man Virgil didn't know the name of had glasses similar to Patton, slicked back neat hair, black polo shirt, and a dark blue tie hanging down his chest. Not expecting Roman to have two days, he smiled a tad, thinking it was rather sweet.
"Virgil!" Roman's voice echoed through the house. Lifting his head, he spotted the boy sliding down the banister, basically sprinting over when he landed on the wooden flooring. "So glad you could make it!" He spoke with an upbeat tone, something he's never heard in school.
"I-what-?"
"Dad, Dad" Roman turned to his parents. Patton smiled while the other one scanned Virgil up and down, for he just noticed the boy. "This is my friend, Virgil! We are working on a project together, so I do hope we're not disturbed"
"Not even for snacks?" Patton piped up, curling one arm around his husbands waist. Roman tapped his chin, smiling at his father.
"Snacks sound nice, come on, emo nightmare!" Roman gripped Virgil's hand and dragged him across the house and up to his room. As soon as the door closed, Roman let go of his hand, Virgil expected him to go back to his old ways, but when he kept grinning and waltzing around his room, Virgil realised that he was much different at home. That opened the question - who was the real Roman?
"So, for the project, I was thinking—"
"What the fuck, dude?"
Roman stared in bewilderment at the sudden outburst. "Excuse me-?"
Virgil dropped his bag and crossed his arms, glaring. "So, you're an asshole in school, but at home you turn into this extravagant...nice person?" He exasperated, watching Roman slowly sit up in his desk chair.
"What do you mean-?"
He was cut off when Virgil got in his face angrily, "don't play dumb with me, Princey, or I'll leave" he seethed, voice proving he wasn't bluffing, and he would actually straight up leave. Roman licked his lips and sighed, turning his head away.
"I'm sorry" he murmured, making Virgil stand up and soften his eyes, his voice sounded so...vulnerable. Either way, he wasn't about to win Virgil over with a simple apology. He needed an explanation. Roman shrunk in on himself to avoid Virgil's hard gaze, but he knew the faster he got this over with, the better.
"I lie, Virgil" he sighed, "I couldn't bare the thought of being bullied so I...put on this persona, I hid my sexuality, I hid my love for acting, I..." he trailed off, "I'm mean to you. And I'm sorry" he stood up and held both of Virgil's hands in his own, staring at him with serenity. "I truly am, I don't expect you to forgive me, although I hope...we can move on and become friends"
Virgil let out a noise of surprised humour, staring at him with a risen eyebrow. "Why would you want to become friends with me?" He asked, genuinely confused, which made Roman's heart ache. He smiled, slowly letting go of Virgil's hands, both boys deciding to ignore the blushes that rose on their cheeks. "Why not? You're intriguing, mysterious, witty, and you have an amazing fashion sense!" He gestured to the get up he wore, which made Virgil turn his head and blush further.
"Yeah...whatever..."
Roman grinned, hurrying over to Virgil's bag to pull out the project. "I have a few ideas for the project..." and that was how their four hour work session started. By the end, they were both worn out from the excessive amount of work and both boys flopped onto Roman's bed, exhausted. They stared in silence at the ceiling for awhile until Roman shifted and turned his head to stare at Virgil.
Virgil did the same, eyes meeting with Roman's sparkly amber ones.
"I enjoyed spending time with you" Roman commented, watching Virgil lift his shoulder slightly in a sort of shrug, staring at him through his lashes. "You did...?" He trailed off, voice a little softer than it was before. Roman chuckled, fully rolling onto his side to stare at Virgil properly. "Of course, why don't we do the same tomorrow during school?"
Virgil choked on air, kicking Roman in the leg when he let out a string of laughter.
"In school? Wouldn't that like...ruin your rep n' shit?"
"Virgil" Roman smiled, brushing his thumb across his jaw. "I would drop my friends, reputation, everything, for a friendship with you"
Virgil tilted his head down, biting his lip as his foundation covered cheeks twinged pink. "You're a cheesy sap.." he murmured, smiling when Roman laughed at his words.
"I can't help it, I'm a romantic mess"
Virgil snorted, meeting his gaze.
"...you're just a mess in general"
"Rude-!"
From downstairs, Patton and his husband (Logan) could hear both boy's laughter, and they smiled at each other.
For that was the first time Roman has properly laughed with someone in a long time.
