Mickey Mouse Club Circus
Lost Disney Attraction
Last time on "Forgotten Disney Abridged":
Rose: *Tries to escape* The door is locked, use a key.
Sparky: Okay we have a Car Key, Piano Key, Skeleton Key, Keyboard Key, Key to the city, Keyhole, Key-line pie, Key to my heart-
Rose: THAT'S NOT HELPFUL!
Random guest star of the day 1: Why don't you just tell everyone to vote and comment on this chapter even though they don't?
Random guest star of the day 2: Or complain why you can't keep your followers?
Random guest star of the day 3: How about you just cut off to a random pop culture reference thing you like and show of to everyone?
Random guest star of the day 4: Why don't we just figure out that mysterious voice that seems to be stalking you around throughout this book?
Rose: Who the heck are you people and why are you locked in this room with us?
Random guest starts: Because we are from your imagination.
Rose: Well, that checks out.
Sparky: Wait, I thought I was your from imagination?
Now back to our regularly scheduled programming:
Rose: Alright my fellow readers/ follows, today's chapter will be about Rafiki's Planet Watch-
Sparky: *Runs up to Rewrite* Uh, Rose?
Rose: Hold the phone, folks, I'm getting an important news flash from Sparky. Go ahead. *Sparky whispers into her ear.* I'm making a complete what of myself? *He whispers again* The most embarrassing thing you've ever seen? *Mr. Krabs whispers a third time* And now it's worse because Disney trolled us and are planning to reopen Rafiki's Planet Watch in early 2019? *Sparky leaves*
Rose: Oooooohhhhhhh. I'm sorry this isn't a joke. We just got trolled, by Disney...literally, thinking they closed down an attraction.
Rose: So what's next? The Stitch Ride really isn't closed at all? What the hell is Stitch anyway?
Plan B:
*Chapter transforms into a circus tent*
Ladies and Gentlemen, and fans of all ages... The Mickey Mouse Club Circus, debuted at Disneyland on November 24 in 1955 and remained until January 8 of the following year.
Walt was a fan of the circus so he thought wow not make one in his precious theme park. It's like dinoland in Walt Disney World that no one even asked for.
Walt's latest venture marks his first entry into the circus field, and the show promises to be one of the greatest things he has done. Titled the Mickey Mouse Club Circus, it will present animal acts and aerialists, clowns and elephants and introduce to the public, for the first time in person, the Mickey Mouse Club Mouseketeers, including Jimmy Dodd, the Grand Mouseketeer as Ringmaster and Roy Williams, the "Big Mooseketeer," as the Circus Strong Man.
The show started with a parade that went down Main Street featuring animals, clowns and even the Mouseketeers of course.
Then the parade came to two large circus tents being set up on the edge of Fantasyland.
Inside, two 75-minute performances took place every single day.
The show had acrobats dressed up as Peter Pan and Tinkerbell, aerialists, wild animals and the Mouseketeers who where the starts of the show.
But it was a mess. The animals kept on escaping from the tents, fighting each other in their cages, including an incident with a black panther bit the paw off of another animal in front of a live audience.
The performers misbehave between shows where they would gamble, drink, walk around in various states of undress and curse strongly and often even with the young Mouseketeers nearby.
On top of that, the circus had very little interest from the guests. People wanted to go to Disneyland, not a circus.
Walt wanted the circus to stay as long as he could, but imagineers had a hard time running it and making the effort of typing to keep it under Disney standards.
So it closed down.
Funny, I have read Annette Funicello autobiography "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes" and she never mentions the circus as she was one of the original Mouseketeers. Never, not even once.
Sparky: Well, that checks out.
