"Hey Andy?" Darnell asks. "Can I talk to you?" "Sure man." We go outside leaving Brielle and Tiffani.
"So what you wanna talk about?" I ask. "Normally, I would never say this to someone because I have too much pride but," he trails off.
I put my hand on his shoulder. "You can tell me. And ask me anything." He looks up at me. "You sure?" I nod.
"I just need to get something off of my chest." He takes a deep breath. "You know how my and Tiff's parents don't really get along?" "Yeah?"
"And how we thought that if we had a baby, that would make them come together?" "Yeah?" "And how that really didn't workout?" "Yeah?" He takes a deep breath then sits down on a bench.
"What about it?" I ask. He takes another breath. "Tiff's parents kicked her out. I feel so bad. I feel like it's my fault. And.. and now, we.. have no where to... live." He sobs and I see a tear coming out. I wrap my arm around him.
"It's not your fault how her parents reacted." I say. I'm not very empathetic. I'm not good with giving advice. I've never experienced something like this. I don't know what to say. But I can try.
"Did you and Brielle have this problem?" No because my dad nor her mom are racist. "No, I haven't so I really don't know what to say but, all I can say is that is not your fault." He looks at me.
"How do you know that?" "What do you mean?" "How do you know that it's not my fault?" "Because, it's not like you told them to kick her out. You didn't tell them to react the way they did."
He takes in my words and I know he wants to say something else but Kolton starts crying again. "I'm sorry Andy. I just really needed to tell someone and get it off my chest." "No need to be sorry. We're friends now. You can tell me anything."
He stands up. "Thanks. You can come to me too." I stand up and smile. "Friend." He says and smiles. "I haven't had one of those in a while." He's going to say something else then shakes his head.
"I think we should go back in. They might be wondering what happened." I nod and we go in side.
"And.. and now, we.. have no where to.. live." That keeps going on and on and on in my head.
