i smiled at random people in the hallway, as they smiled back.
i was at school, and i was feeling pretty confident.
i stood with a smile on my face as i waited for hayden and carson, along with the rest of the boys, to meet me at my locker.
i saw two farmiliar girls, but i couldn't put my finger on their names.
oh, right!
kenzie and lauren!
"isn't that the weird girl that was acting like a stripper at hayden's party?"
kenzie asked lauren.
they were stopped at their own lockers across the hall from me.
"i can hear you all the way from here!"
i told them.
kenzie laughed and walked over.
"i don't know what happened at that party, but i'd love to hang out sometime. i'll ask john for your number later."
she smiled, as did lauren.
"sounds good. see ya."
they waved before walking off.
soon after, carson, caden, rush, and johnny, all crowded around me like a barricade.
"why are you forming around me like the great wall of china?"
i asked, getting nervous at their worried faces and how close they were getting.
"what? nothing. it's just easier to have a- a private conversation."
caden told me, unsure of his own words.
"ugh, you guys. what's going on-"
"where is she?!"
i heard a voice yell from the end of the hall.
a very farmiliar one.
a voice that belonged to hayden.
carson gasped and quickly shoved me into an empty unused locker.
he closed it shut and they all turned around.
"where is that little slut?!"
hayden asked, very very angry.
what did i do?
why is he so angryily urgent to find me?
why is he trying to kill me?
the locker carson had shovedme in hadn't been opened in ages.
dust was everywhere.
and it was soon up my nose.
"as soon as you find her, you better fucking-"
"achoo!"
i squealed.
i quickly covered my mouth.
hayden stopped mid sentence, turning towards the locker.
i could see through the grate, the tiniest bit, since carson was leaning on the door.
"bless me! i have allergies. really bad ones."
johnny covered up quickly.
well at least tried too.
"nice try, john, but i know annie's sneeze. i'm not stupid."
he told johnny.
he then smirked.
"move."
hayden said.
they all did as told amd walked away as quickly as possible.
wow, i see how much they care.
well maybe it because we all know he won't hurt me.
...right?
i gulped as he swung the metal door open.
i coughed as dust flew everywhere.
"achoo!"
i sneezed again.
he pulled me out of the metal, rusty, blue locker and rolled his eyes.
"my house, 5:30 tonight."
he told me bluntly.
"hell no."
i told him.
he grabbed my arm tightly in anger.
i winced in pain.
so much for him not hurting me.
he was about to say something but immediately stopped and let go.
i gasped as he finally released the tight, stinging, grasp from my arm.
"annie...i- i'm so sorry..i-"
"save it summerall!"
i yelled just before the bell rang for class, signalling we were late.
tears pricked my eyes as i ran to the girls bathroom.
i didn't see anybody in there, and thank god for that.
i bawled my eyes out.
mascara running down my cheeks, whimpers escaping my mouth.
i was a mess.
suddenly a stall from behind me unlocked and swung open.
i choked back my tears in fear that someone saw me like this.
and through the mirror, i saw a worried lauren.
"annie? are you okay?! what happened?!"
she panicked as she ran up to me.
"it's nothing, i'm fine.."
i mumbled, picking up my bag and wiping away every bit of my makeup off with a paper towel.
"annie..."
she grabbed my wrist as i turned around.
i turned back to face her, trying to be as convincing as possible, which didn't work at all.
"being best friends with kenzie all these years, i know fine doesn't mean fine. especially when you're having a break down in the bathroom.."
she told me.
"what's wrong? i know we're not close but you can tell me, i won't tell anyone unless you give me permission."
she reassured me.
i nodded and looked down.
"i feel like a failure. i failed someone so terribly and now all this bullshit is happening and it's all my fault!"
i cried.
she nodded as she listened to my every word.
"annie, i have one thing that you need to know at all times. you are not a failure!"
she said sternly.
"and i feel like kenz would know what to do. she was stuck in a feeling like this before for a long time but she overcame it, just like you can."
she told me.
"mind if i tell her to come here? if not it's okay, i understand-"
"that'd be great lauren."
i told her as i gave her a weak, watery, smile.
she gave one back as she pulled out her phone and clicked away.
