"Can we leave now?" He whined following you.
"What are you talking about, we just got here." I laughed.
10 minutes.
Only 10 minutes in and he's whining.
NEW RECORD WOOO!
"What are we shopping for again?" He asked.
"A cute outfit for my date tonight." I had reminded him for like the thirtieth time.
"Why did I agree to come again?" He asked.
"Cuz you're my bestfriend... and you're a boy so you can help me."
"Oh right." He sighed.
"Oh man up, you're fine." I laughed.
We then stood on an escalator up to the next floor.
We went to a couple stores, but they didn't have really anything. Well... just nothing amazing that popped out.
"How much longerrrrr." He whined once more.
"Until we find the perfect outfit!" I said and grabbed onto his hand running into another store.
I grabbed three things that I thought were GREAT and decided to try them on.
The first one is this super cute white, spaghetti strapped, button down dress. Simple and easy. I can wear this dress like anywhere and be okay.
I walked out and showed it to Zach.
"What do you think?" I asked, moving around in it and looking in the mirror.
"It's great." He replied while he was oh his phone laying face down in a chair.
"Zach!" I shouted.
He groaned and looked up.
"Does it look slutty?" I asked.
"Isn't that what you're going for?" He laughed.
"I hate you." I rolled my eyes.
"I like that one." He paused and looked some more. "The white makes you look super tan."
"Alright, I'll be right back with outfit number 2!" I shouted walking back in to change into the next outfit.
The next one was a blue tiny checkered short dress, which I paired with a yellow peacoat. Cute and casual. Not really my style, but it's cute.
I then walked back out.
"How about this?" I asked.
"It looks weird." He cringed looking at the outfit.
"Wha... how?" I asked and looked at myself in the mirror.
"It doesn't look like you." He replied staring at me from all angles.
"You think so?" I asked.
"I know so."
I sighed and walked back in.
Last but not least, a lace topped black mini dress, paired with a comfy white cardigan. Sexy, but the cardigan doesn't make me look like too much of a hoe. So sexy but not slutty.
When I walked out, Zach's jaw dropped.
"Good or bad?" I asked.
"Amazing." He blushed.
"Perfect!" I said looking in the mirror.
"Get this one." He said staring.
"Okay I think I'm gonna get it. I'm gonna go change back into my clothes." I smiled walking back in.
zach pov
Whoever she's going on this date with, is one lucky dude.
If only it was me.
God, I sound so stupid saying that. I sound like a complete loser... but maybe I just am.
First off, I'm in love with my bestfriend.
Second off, I can't ever bring myself to tell her.
Third, we're best friends, nothing more.
After she checked out, I couldn't help but wonder who she was going on a date with.
I know, I know. We're best friends and we should tell each other everything, but one thing we never really talk about is our love lives. Well, we will talk about who's hot and who's not, or tell each other if we like someone. But we never really talk about it, probably because I hate it when she goes out on dates. She'll either come home crying so I have to come over with Ben & Jerry's or he will be a flake or once in a while she'll get a great guy and will talk about him everyday until they break up.
"This outfit is so perfect! Drew is gonna love it!" She shrieked as we got into the car.
When we made it back to her house, she got all ready and put the outfit on.
"Yes?" She asked and twirled.
"Absolutely." I blushed.
DING
I watched her look at her phone all smiley, until her smile dropped slowly and she looked really upset.
"What's wrong?" I asked confused.
"Drew said he doesn't want to go out on a date with me." She replied softly.
"Just raincheck it." I responded.
"No. Like ever. He never wants to go out on a date with me." She said on the verge of tears.
What a prick.
She sat down on the bed next to me and layed her head on my shoulder.
"No one is ever gonna want me." She sighed quietly.
"That's not true." I replied playing with her hair.
"Yeah it is, and I just bought an amazing outfit for nothing."
"Hey." I said and lifted her chin up with my finger. "Let's make nothing into something."
"What do you mean?"
I got off the bed and stood up.
"We're going on a date. We're not gonna let that amazing outfit go to waste!" I said and pulled her off of the bed.
"Zach. It's okay. I can just return it."
"But do you want to return it?" I asked.
"Well... no." She answered shyly.
"Exactly. So let's get going then!" I said happily. "No Ben & Jerry's tonight!"
Since it was last minute, all the nice restaurants had 2 hour waitlists, so I decided that we should go get McDonalds and go eat it on top of a hill that we both love to go to. We like to call it the Freckle Hill. We call it that, because we love to come here to stare at the freckled sky full of stars. We usually just come up here every once in a while to get away from all of our problems and relax.
I grabbed a blanket from my trunk and spread it out onto the grass. Lara brought the McDonalds bag over and we both sat on the blanket and ate our food.
"I'm sorry it wasn't a fancy date." I laughed while wearing a fry.
"Don't be, it was last minute. Plus, I wouldn't want to be with anyone else than my bestfriend right now." She smiled.
"Me either." I smiled back.
After we finished our food, we layed down and stared off into the sky.
"They're so bright and vibrant tonight." She stated.
"They look like they're sparkling." I laughed.
Maybe I should tell her how I feel... it... it just feels like the right time to do so.
I layed up on my side.
"Lara." I said.
"Zach." She said still laying on her back.
"I... I need to tell you something."
"Sure, what is it?" She asked still staring off into the sky.
My palms were begining to sweat.
... eh... maybe it isnt the time.
"Uh. Never mind, it's nothing."
She then layed on her side and stared at me.
"Zach. What's going on?"
"Nothing. It's nothing."
"Obviously it's not nothing, you're acting weird."
"I..." I sighed and layed back down on my back. "I was gonna tell you something but it doesn't matter anymore."
"Zachary Dean Herron. You are my best friend and if you think that I'm that stupid to believe that, then I guess we aren't really best friends like I thought." She said glaring at me, waiting for an answer.
"Okay fine." I layed on my side again. "What I'm about to say next, isn't allowed to change our friendship okay?" I said making sure.
"Of course. Nothing can."
"You know how I act weird when you talk about other guys and all that stuff?" I asked.
"Oh my god, are you gay? Cuz if so I totally suppor..."
"No. I'm not gay." I cut her off laughing.
"Oh." She said awkwardly.
"I act weird because I've realized that I like you more than just a friend. I've been in love with you for a while now."
She looked shocked and was trying to think of something to say.
"I know that was a lot to take in. I don't expect you to respond to what I just said." I paused. "Let's just stare at the stars for a while." I suggested and layed back down on my back.
We did so and it was silent for a good 10 minutes.
"Zach?"
"Yes?"
"You know I love you, you know that. But I don't know if I'm in love with you like the way you are towards me. But." She paused. "I say we should try this out. Maybe I am, maybe I'm not. But this isn't allowed to change our friendship no matter how it turns out." She stated.
I couldn't help but smile.
"Of course."
