Rin's POV
"Oh hell no."
"Please for meeeee?" Kai begged, attempting to use his puppy dog eyes.
"Did you not just hear me say, hell no? Cause I'm pretty sure I already gave you my answer."
"Please Rinny."
"If you never call me that again, I'll do it," I muttered. I could feel my eye twitching in annoyance.
"Yes! I promise you won't regret it!" Kai said excitedly.
I rolled my eyes, "Don't make promises you can't keep."
Kai put a hand to his heart, pretending to look offended. "I'm hurt! Wounded! How could you be so cruel?! What have I ever done to deserve such unprovoked doubt?!"
I raised an eyebrow at him, unimpressed. "I don't know, maybe it was that time when you tried to cook sausage and you somehow succeeded in totally burning the outside yet the insides were completely raw..."
"That was one time!" He protested.
"Oh yea, and that time when you used salt instead of granulated sugar..."
"A common mistake!"
"And that other time when you tried to make microwaveable ramen and accidentally set it on fire.."
"The manufacturers obviously did something wrong."
I let out a long agonised sigh. "I swear Kai, if you burn down my kitchen, there will be a repeat of last Tuesday..."
Kai screeched loudly. "Okay! I promise! Good gods Rin, you don't have to threaten me with something that brutal! Besides, that's the whole reason I'm asking you to teach me... so I don't burn down any more kitchens!"
"Th fact that you've already burnt down multiple kitchens, makes me worry for you."
Kai put his middle finger in front of my lips, succeeding in shushing me and flipping me off simultaneously. "Shhhh child, that's in the past, it's unimportant now."
"You literally set a kitchen on fire last Mond-"
"Shhhhhh," he once again cut me off with his finger. "Let's get started."
I rolled my eyes. 'I'm so going to regret this..'

I was right. I regret it.
"Kai! That's mint! The recipe asks for parsley!"
"That's pretty much the same thing isn't it? Isn't it?!"
"No! It's most definitely not!"
"Well shit... I guess I screwed up.." he said, sounding completely unbothered by the fact that this was his THIRTEENTH time messing up in the past 45 minutes.
"Please remind me why I'm friends with you again.."
Kai smiled and shoved his cheek against mine, "Cause you looove me?"
I groaned and turned away, trying to hide the smile on my face. He's so frustratingly adorable!
The sound of a door closing and a voice grabs my attention. "Um... am I interrupting something?"
I turn and see Bon standing in the doorway looking... uncomfortable? Maybe a bit annoyed? I can't really tell.
Kai turns and smiles hesitantly. "Um, hi, are you a friend of Rin's?"
Kai always gets worried when someone he doesn't know comes near me, cause he's worried they're trying to mess with me.
I place a hand on his shoulder, "It's fine Kai, this is Bon, he's my.." I hesitate, not one hundred percent sure if I should introduce him as a friend or a classmate.
"I'm a very close friend of Rin's. Very close." Bon finishes for me. "The names's Bon, and you are..?
Kai's hesitant smile turns warm, "Oh, I'm Kai, also a close friend of Rin's. It's nice to meet you!" He reaches out to shake Bon's hand, but Bon must not have seen it cause he doesn't grab it, instead he turns to me.
"Well, I came here cause the others and I were planning on going out for coffee and wanted to know if you'd like to join us? Although, it seems you might be too busy..."
"Yeah sorry, I promised I'd teach Kai how to cook. Maybe next time?"
Bon is visibly annoyed and I hope he isn't too angry at me.
"Oh!" Kai turns to me and smiles sheepishly. "We can pick this back up another day, you should go hang out with your friends."
"What? No! I couldn't do that to you! That'd be so rude to just leave you," I protest.
Bon pushes in between us, "Wow, how nice of you to give him permission to leave. Real nice man, thanks, we'll be leaving then." He grabs my arm and starts to pull me toward the door. I frown and rip my arm out of his grasp.
"What the heck Bon? Stop being so rude! I never said I was going with you, so don't just assume I'm going to ditch Kai!"
Bon looks taken aback. He opens his mouth to respond but before he can say anything the door slams open.
"Geez, it doesn't take that long to ask Rin if he wants to come with us or not! I knew we shouldn't have sent Bon," Izumo muttered, shutting the door behind her. She turned around and jumped a bit in surprise, not having realised we were right in front of the door.
"Oh, there you guys are, what's taking so long?" She must've noticed the small tension in the room cause her eyes scanned around as though trying to figure out what was causing the delay. She finally stopped on Kai.
"Oh, hey Kai, I didn't realise you were here."
Kai nodded his head in greeting, "Sup Eyebrows."
Bon looked between the two of them in confusion. "You know each other?"
Izumo quirked one of her weirdly shaped eyebrows at him. "Um yea, obviously. Rin introduced us a little while back. He'd obviously want his two closest friends to know each other." She put emphasis on the words, 'two closest friends', as if trying to rub in that he was not one of them.
"Oh... well that's.. whatever, it doesn't really matter, he was on his way out anyway."
"Oh right, I guess I'll be taking my leave. Have fun! Come see me when you get back, okay Rin?"
"What? Why are you leaving?" Izumo asked.
"Oh well, I don't want Rin to miss hanging out with you guys over me or anything, so I was gonna go catch up on some studying or something.."
Izumo shook her head. "No you're not."
"Wha-?" He looked to me in confusion. I shrugged in response. 'Don't look at me for help, she's crazy?'
Izumo gave me a light glare as if reading my thoughts, before turning back to Kai. "You're gonna come with us."
Kai and Bon both looked at her in surprise, "Huh?"
"Yeah, obviously. We're not just going to be like 'bye, go do something else while we steal Rin'. You can just come with us, I'm sure everyone will like you."
"Oh.. that'd be great! Thanks!"
"Yeah.. great.." Bon muttered.

Bon's POV
As we walked to the cafè I couldn't help but glare at the back of Kai's head. Rin was recounting some story about last Tuesday with an evil smile on his face, while Kai tried to hide a smile and begged him not to talk about it.
Stupid Kai. Who did he think he was, putting himself in our friend group without permission?
I sighed, why do I dislike him so much? He seems like a pretty nice guy, and Izumo and Rin get along with him pretty well... so why does the sight of him piss me off?
I glance over again at him and Rin. They're both laughing as Kai sticks Rin in a playful headlock. Maybe it's the sight of Kai and Rin together that bothers me... I mean, Kai seems to know how to make Rin happy without even trying and I just screw things up when I try to help.
Maybe that's it. I'm jealous. Not of how close they are or anything! Why would that matter? I'm just jealous that Kai can make Rin laugh so easily... that's all...
