Failed Attempt At Sneaking Out #3

(Your POV)

Okay.

You think you have it this time.

As silently as possible, you carefully shut your bedroom door. Tiptoeing down the hall, you make it to the stairs. You creep down those just as quietly and make it to the foyer.

This is where he always catches you.

You brace yourself.

...

It comes as a surprise when he doesn't jump out of the shadows and catch you.

Is he...

...not showing up?

It's not like it matters, this'll just be easier for you. Turning the knob, you open the door. The cool night air hits you, a fresh breath of freedom.

Finally.

It's 12 o'clock at night, the roads are pretty desolate. Every few minutes or so, a car goes down your normally busy street. You start your walk to Byungchul's house. He's having another party. As one of you and your sister's best friends (and occasional partner in crime), he's decided to throw a party every night until you make it to one. You pull out your phone and start texting him when a car passes, making you jump.

Jeez, calm down.

You're fine.

You finish texting him when you start to feel off. Bringing your gaze away from your phone, you look around. Nothing seems to be amiss. There's a car down the street and what seems to be someone walking their dog even further down. A bit strange to be walking a dog at this time of night, but nothing unsettling.

Chill, woman.

Why are you so jumpy?

It's most likely because of Jimin. He's always lurking, meaning your head is constantly on a swivel. You continue to walk.

A minute or so later, that strange feeling returns. Your head is brought up as you scan the area again. Nothing's wrong. The dog walker is a bit farther now, and the car is still–

...

Wait.

Shouldn't it've passed me by now?

That car's moving, you can see the wheels turning. But why's it going so slowly?

You feel off.

Whatever.

Keep going.

You try to shrug it off, but the wary feeling stays. Though subconsciously, your pace quickens. You can only hope to arrive at Byungchul's house soon.

With an eye on the car, you keep walking.

Your stomach churns when it creeps closer.

This can't be good. You've heard stories of what happens to girls who go out alone at night. None of them end well.

Maybe this wasn't a good idea.

What if I just turn back?

Home isn't that far away.

No, I can't.

Then whoever's following me will know where I live.

You're a decent way to the party, anyway.

Keep going.

Pray the car leaves.

You take another subtle glance back at the vehicle. It's getting awfully close now. You can't even get a good description of the car, as it's too dark to make out any details. All you know is the car's black, with what seems to be tinted windows.

It only contiues to advance upon you.

You're starting to get a little freaked out. While you're normally pretty brave, something about this just feels off. You can't even make out what, you just know something's wrong. Of all the stories in your mind, one particularly bad one stands out.

It's a story you read online about this teenage girl. She went out alone at night and got kidnapped on her way to the convenience store.

What if that happens to me?

Maybe I shouldn't have come out here alone...

I probably should've just listened to Jimin.

I wouldn't even have to worry about this if I was safe at home and in my bed.

The car's behind you now, only about 30 feet away.

The dog walker's nowhere in sight.

You pull out your phone in a moment of desperation. You can't outrun a car, nor could you jump fences and trek through yards in these clothes. You can, however, call someone.

Who?

The police?

Dad?

Minhee?

Byungchul?

Maybe...

....Jimin?

You falter.

...Should I?

You're that desperate. Scrolling through your contacts, you find the number you never seem to use. Finger hovering over the button, you're about to call when you realize the car's now beside you.

Fuck.

Time's up.

Even though there's no chance he'd get here on time, you press the button. It starts dialing. The ringing noise echos in your head.

Your heart's pounding. It probably misses a few beats when he doesn't pick up.

Please, come on.

Answer.

It rings a few more times, then stops.

Silence.

Dead, unwavering silence.

The car sits beside you menacingly. It's only a matter of time before someone jumps out and grabs you, taking you God knows where and doing God knows what.

You call again.

Please.

Please, please please please.

Answer.

It only continues to ring.

As a last resort, you're about to try to run. It won't work, you know it, but doing something is always better than nothing.

Still unmoving, you look back at the car.

Run, you idiot!

Why won't you move?

As much as you want to escape, your legs remain frozen. From fear or instinct, you don't know. The only thing you understand is that you've missed your slim chance of escape.

The window rolls down.

When it does, a ringing sound floods the air. It mockingly pounds into your ears as the man inside the car turns to you. One of his hands is on the wheel and the other is holding his phone.

He silences it with a quiet click.

His eyes meet yours.

"You've wandered pretty far from home, kitten."

Jimin.

His fingers tap against the steering wheel as he tisks. He smugly chuckles and leans his head back.

"Oh, my sweet, dear (Y/N), you're in trouble now."

You stand in silence.

Jimin was never asleep.

He followed you.

But that's not the worst part, no, not at all.

He hunted you. Silently and arrogantly, he watched you suffer. He watched you start to panic as he drew closer. He watched the worries race in your mind, all from the safety of his car. Everything you did was for his amusement.

He played you.

"I must admit, it was entertaining when my phone started ringing." He smiles to himself. "Did you think I'd come save you?"

Your face flushes a bit. He only smirks at the sight.

I shouldn't have called.

If this is how it's gonna be, forget you.

It's not worth humiliating myself.

Next time I'm in trouble, I'll handle it on my own.

Ignoring the fact that you didn't answer, he continues.

"You know (Y/N), you're as rude as can be when I'm with you, but the second you're in trouble you come running back to me." He says with a little laugh. "Try being a little nicer, maybe next time I won't toy with you as much."

There's something bubbling up inside you.

What is it?

Oh, right.

Hatred.

Loathing.

Terrible, horrible, loathing.

This man finds ways to mock you every chance he gets. He enjoys screwing with your mind.

It's all a game to him.

A game that he always seems to win.

You hate it. You hate him.

He yet again ignores your silence and continues talking.

"Get in the car, kitten. We'll have a talk about what to do with you when we get home."

As much as you want to murder this man, you hold back all the things begging to escape your lips. As calmly as you can muster, you plaster on a blank expression and walk to the passenger side. He unlocks the door for you as you get in beside him.

You don't miss his smirk as he watches you buckle yourself in.

The man's clever.

So are you.

His arrogant self drives the two of you home. He says you'll have that "talk" with him in the morning. He watches you go in your room before entering his own, making sure you've turned in for the night. Sitting on your bed, you take a deep breath.

It's okay.

It's fine.

He wants to play like that, huh?

Fine.

Just fine.

Just you wait, Park Jimin.

I'm smarter than you think, and now I'm mad.

You're gonna have one hell of a time trying to stop me.

Just you wait.
