The fourth hour

"This is not good, not good at all," Pax said to himself.

"Just stay in front of him!" I shouted at him as I craned my head around to look at Mark. Pax stepped on the gas, bringing our speed up to 140 miles per hour, which was the top speed for the car. No matter what he did, Mark kept on gaining on us, until we were bumper to bumper.

"Pax go faster!" Trixie screamed in fear.

"I can't!" he cried out in frustration, fear all over his face.

Mark rammed into our car from behind, causing the backside to spin and rake against the barrier between us and the cliff. Trixie screamed in terror before Pax quickly got control of the car. That was too close.

I whipped around to look at Mark again, and he has an evil grin on his face as began to switch lanes. Oh no.

"Bri, he is switching lanes!" Pax shouted at me. "We should pull over before we end up at the bottom of this cliff!"

"No, keep on going! I have an idea!"

"Our her ideas ever good?" Trixie asked, clearly panicked by the whole situation.

"They've kept us alive up to this point!" Pax replied.

I kept my eye on Mark as he drove up to us, making sure he wasn't going to make any sudden moves. He slowly inched forward until he was right next to us which his partner rolled down his window and took out the megaphone again. I reached over to roll down Pax's window since he was too focused on driving.

"I'll give you one more chance; pull over and no one gets hurt!"

"Bri, we should pull over!" Pax yelled at me over the rushing air.

"Please, Bri, I don't want to die!" Trixie shouted, tears close in her eyes.

"Listen, guys, I promise you no one is going to die, okay?" I told both of them. "I have this under control, but you have to trust me! Do you trust me?" I looked both of them in the eyes. Well, not Pax, he was driving, but it was close enough. Trixie nodded her head.

"Always," Pax replied.

"Good, because you are going to have to trust me for this!" I yelled to be heard of the air flow in the car. "When I scream brake, hit the breaks, okay Pax?"

"Got it!" he yelled back at me.

"Okay!" I turned my attention back to Mark. "IS THAT ALL YOU GOT, OLD MAN?" and put my middle finger to good use.

Now, guys, I would never do that in any other situation, I promise you. I only did that to make sure his next decision was on impulse, not strategy.

I saw his face transform in slow motion. He was wearing the smirk of the evil villain in a movie, knowing that he had the win, and it transformed into a face of fire. He was tremendously mad. His face turned so red I was amazed he didn't blow up. If he was a cartoon character, he would have steam coming out of ears at geyser force.

Mark swiveled his car to the left, away from us, getting ready to ram right into our side, but I was ready.

"BRAKE!" I screeched at Pax, and he slammed on the brakes.

I was not being the safest person today, because when I had gotten back into the car, I did not put my seatbelt back on. So when Pax hit the brakes, I got thrown into the headboard, which was not the most pleasant thing to experience. It was worth it, though, to look up just in time to see Mark sail over the edge of the cliff in his car.

I yanked open the car door and stumbled to the edge of the cliff. I was overwhelmed by the sudden thought that I might've actually killed someone, and had to find out if I was a murder. But as I looked over the cliff, I saw that both Mark and his partner had jumped out of the falling car and were now descending at a slow speed due to the fact that they had brought parachutes with them. Phew, don't have to add murderer to the list of things I am.

I was suddenly pulled backward, jarring me out of my thoughts. I turned my attention to Pax, who was the one gripping me.

"Sorry," he said. "You were too close to the edge for my liking."

"Awe, you care," I cooed, giving him a hard time.

"Yeah, yeah, well you did take a hard hit when I slammed on the brakes, so excuse me for not trusting you to walk by the edge of a cliff."

"Whaaaaaat? I can walk," and I proceeded to trip and almost falling on my face if it hadn't been from Pax, who caught me.

"Come on, Bri, back in the car," he caused. "We need to continue anyway."

I allowed him to lead me into the car, where Trixie was about to burst from excitement.

"Did you see that? Did you see that? You totally smack-talked him, and he was like, 'not today,' and tried to kill us, but you got him killed and it was like, 'haha, sucker!' And it was soooooo awesome!" she said at a million words per minute. "Also, you and Pax should just date already! You guys totally like each other and you would make such a cute couple and ahhhh, I can't even find words but yeah!"

"Well then," I said while laughing. "That's a lot to take in."

"You guys gossiping about me?" Pax asked jokingly as he got into the car.

"No!" we said at the exact same time, then laughing.

"Okay then, I can see that I am not allowed know," Pax laughed. "Well, ladies, it's now onward to Boston!"

"Onward to Boston!" we cheered back.
