Chapter 7

Vanessa and I left the mall since Carlos wouldn't stop ringing her cell. I didn't mind much because I'd bought all the things I needed. More bras, a few perfumes and some swimwear for the beach party.

Vanessa decided to drive this time to the beach because I'd bought an ice cream cone and I wanted to eat it in peace. While we were driving to the beach, we gossip and talked about our summer so far.

I gasped at something Vanessa had to me. "She's pregnant!?"

Vanessa nodded her head at my question. We were talking about a girl that we used to go to school with in middle school. She used to be a shy, kind, and smart girl. And now she was pregnant!?

"Do you know how she got pregnant?" I said, licking my ice cream.

She let out a cute giggle. "Instagram stalking is pretty hard when she has such small captions to her pictures but then I started stalking on her Facebook page. She had a bunch of pictures with her stomach and she kept tagging this dude."

I laughed, "Don't tell people you stalk. They might think you're crazy,"

She rolled her eyes. "Yeah whatever. Anyway, the guy is a blonde college student. He's pretty cute if you asked me,"

I sighed at her, "You think everyone is cute."

She smiled. "That is pretty true, especially Matt, he's such a cutie."

I rolled my eyes. You wouldn't even think Vanessa had a boyfriend from the way she's always talking about how "cute" other guys were. But Vanessa loved Carlos and wouldn't do anything to jeopardize their relationship that they've spent almost three years building.

"Speaking about Matt, where do you think he went? Does he have a phone?"

I shook my head. "He came to our house looking like a filthy bum. He had nothing with him," I explained right when we made it to the beach parking lots.

She frowned. "Aw, poor boy, well you guys should really keep a tracking device on him. I mean, he did just got out the slammer so.....you can't really trust him too much."

I nodded my head, opening my door and getting out of the small vehicle. I still had a little bit of ice cream that was in my cone and I quickly licked it, finishing it up in a quick motion.

I made sure to get the bag with our bathing suits so we could change if they had a changing area.

While we walked, someone calling Vanessa's name made both of us turn around.

Carlos was walking from his silver truck with swimming trunks on while water flowed from his dark hair down to his chest. I knew he'd just come from the water.

Vanessa immediately ran to her dude, jumping up in his arms and kissing him senselessly. I stood there awkwardly, looking at the two giggling and flirting with one another. I didn't have a boyfriend to do those things with. Some days when Vanessa would tell me about the sweer things Carlos did for her, I felt sad and jealous. I wanted their type of relationship but maybe my time wasn't to come yet. And I guess I was fine with that.

Clearing my throat, I caught both of their attention. Carlos smirked at me, walking up to me while he still held Vanessa in his grasp.

"What's up, knucklehead?" He asked, rubbing his knuckles on my head like I was some type of dog.

Last time I checked, I was a human.

I pushed his grimy paws off me. "You're messing up my hair!" I whined, trying to fix the mess he probably had made.

He chuckled. "Whatever, so I see you're alone once again,"

I rolled my eyes. "I'm always alone."

"Well tonight may be different. I just reunited with a few of my close friends. I invited them to the party, maybe you'll hit it off with one of them,"

I sighed as we began to walk closer to the beach. "I don't need you, of all people, trying to set me up, Carlos," Yes I do! I'm desperate. I need love, I really want a boyfriend to do couple stuff with, I thought in my head.

Vanessa stepped in. "In that bikini, I'm sure someone will catch your eye, come on, let's go change before we hit the beach." she said, pulling on my arm, giving Carlos one last peck on the lips.

We walked to the changing areas and quickly changed into our swimsuits, then we left, heading back to the beach. Vanessa was already dragging me to the cooler once we stepped foot on the sand.

There was a bunch of people here, drinking, dancing or just socializing.

Some of these people I recognized from our school, others were seniors that had graduated just before summer had began.

"I'm so thirsty," Vanessa whined.

Carlos came around out of nowhere with another dude hanging on his arm with blond hair. The dude kinda looked like one of those typical surfer dudes.

"That's what she said," Carlos mocked, laughing with the dude that was next to him.

I sneered at them both, thinking the joke was more childish rather than funny. That was one thing that both Vanessa and I didn't like about Carlos. He was so comical and childish. But I guess that is how all boys were.

"Babe," Vanessa said, giving Carlos a stern look, causing him to literally be ashamed of himself.

"Babe, we're just playing." He said back. "Anyways, Jessica, this is one of my friends, Crash. Crash, meet Jessica."

Crash, the boyish looking surfer dude, smirked at me. "Oh, you're a total babe," he said letting his eyes rank down to my body. "Yeah, a total babe."

For some reason, I was blushing. I didn't like him staring at my body but maybe he could be possible boyfriend material. I just didn't like that he called me a "total babe".

"Nice to meet you too." I said, smiling at him.

Vanessa and Carlos were already in there lovey-dovey mood, and by the looks of it, I was alone with Crash.

Looking at Crash, he looked a bit worn out but still cute. I tried to start a conversation.

"So Crash, what brings you here?"

He licked his lips, brushing his hands through his hair.

"My friend just got out of a delinquent detention center and we're welcoming him back,"

That sounded just like Matt.

I smiled a bit as Crash dug into his trunk pocket and pulled out a cigarette. I gasped, shocked that he was about to smoke in front of me.

Crash saw my discomfort and looked at me. "You don't smoke?"

I shook my head. "No."

He frowned. "So I'm guessing you don't want me to smoke around you?"

He seemed like a nice guy but I didn't know if my mom would accept a guy who smoked. But God damn it! I needed a boyfriend!

Shaking my head, I said, "No, it's cool with me,"

He smirked. "So what's your story? You seem like a innocent chick,"

"Why do boys keep thinking I'm innocent?" I thought out loud.

Crash chuckled. "Oh, so you're not innocent?" He wiggled his eyebrows in a flirtatious way.

I couldn't hold my laughter. He was being so silly. I remembered the thing I'd said to Matt when we'd went shopping and immediately tried not to make anything go to negative with Crash. "Not in that way, Crash," I told him, giggling a bit.

Completely surprising me, Crash touched my hair while blowing out his smoke in another direction so it wouldn't get in my face. "You got a nice laugh, babe."

Was it just me, or was he just a hot piece of boyfriend material?

I giggled some more, feeling completely flushed. "You really have a way with words, Crash. Do you have a girlfriend?" I had to ask that question. Desperate or not, I really wanted to know.

"Shockingly, I don't." He said, twisting my hair some more, tugging on my hand. "You wanna go talk somewhere more private?" He asked, starring directly at me.

Looking around, I knew for sure that going somewhere private with someone never turned out to be good but here, at the moment, I seriously didn't care anymore. This was my chance. And I wasn't about to ruin it.

"Sure," I agreed, letting Crash lead me to wherever he wanted to take me.

His eyes sparked up a bit, quickly grabbing my hand and dragging me from the party and to a secluded little hut with a few benches around it.

Once we reached the hut, he immediately stumped on his cigarette. He grabbed my hand, tugging me towards the water. I giggled a bit as we both ran towards the glistening water.

"You're running too fast, Crash," I said, letting his hand go because he was running too fast.

His chuckle was heard as he finally reached the water. "You're just running slow, Jessica."

I reached the water and splashed Crash, making him splash me back, pushing water all over me.

"No fair, you have more man power than me!" I whined, pouting a bit.

Crash laughed coming closer to me and lifting up my chin in his hands. He looked good with the water dripping from his nice chest.

And before I knew it, his lips were on mine. They were soft and I could taste and smell a bit of the cigarette that he'd smoked before but I didn't care. He was kissing me! This hot surfer dude was kissing me! What could get any better than t--

Hearing someone clear their throat, Crash and I pulled away from each other and once both of us looked up, a gasped left my lips.

Matt was standing there, holding a bottle of beer in his hands with a confused expression on his face.

What was Matt doing here?

"What up, dude? What you need?" Crash asked him.

Wait? They knew each other?

What the hell was going on here?
