Sapphire:
Yeah so I've decided to leave, but no big deal right? It's not bad that I don't really know where I'm going. Okay, so I'm going west, or am I going east. Which direction does the sun rise again. Yeah I don't know where, I just know I don't want to be around any pack. The Ice Lake Pack's scent was starting to fade as I trudged on closer, and closer to the boder or their territory. I waded through the river and started heading towards the hill and the patches of blue and straw berries. Their fruity scent smelled so sweet ,and with the hills behind the bushes any scent comming from the direction I was heading towards was completely invisible. A loud snarl caught my attention on the top of the hill. Oh. My I thought fearfully.
"Come back eh?" growled a large black wolf with only one eye.
"It's funny that even though I broke your paw you stlil escaped me" the wolf chuckled, his torn ear twitched slightly. My own ear twitched, listening, but no one was around.
"What do you want Viper?" I asked.
"Your life, if you don't fit in the pack then you must die!" he snarled. Suddenly a diferent scent overwhelmed my sense of smell, and pain shot up the leg Venom had bitten earlier. Vixen, Viper's mate, bit at my leg and tore at it. I let out a pained filled yelp.
"Hold her still!" Viper ordered. He lunged for my throat, but I managed to duck; though it made the flesh of my leg held in Vixen's jaws tear even more. I can't dodge another attack, I can try but I'll surely die here I thought.
Jinx:
"Alpha! Jinx!!!!" someone cried my name. Slowly I rose to my paws and stretched.
"Jinx! Jinx!" again the wolf cried my name, and I was still sleepily taking my time.
"Jinx!" yelled the wolf as they tumbled into my den.
"What! I was sleeping and you shouldn't enter unless I allow you to" I growled half sleepily and half angry.
"But Jinx, somethings happened to Sapphire" Berry explained. My body shook slightly, and I couldn't stop it. I shook my head.
"So, she's a rogue wolf. Something happends, it's not the packs case to worry about" I said in a cold, flat tone. Berry gaped at me though she should know I don't like rogue's.
"That's, no" she whispered looking at me angrily.
"You may be the alpha, but you sure can be a pile of rotten old elk dung!" she spat at me. The words shocked me a little, but I didn't show the effect of her words on me. My chest, my heart felt heavy and empty. As if nothing were there.
"You have no authority to speak to me like that!" I snarled.
"Well I do if you talk about my friend like that!" she snarled back. By now the entire pack had crowded around and were watching the dispute between alpha and medicine wolf.
"Friends with a rogue? Are you insane" I spat at her.
"Maybe I am if you consider it insane to stick up for your friends" she snarled back.
"Then why don't you save her?" I asked.
"You know I can't fight! No medicine wolf from the Ice Lake pack has ever learned to fight! Apparently the alpha's for generations thought it was pointless since we're never in battle!" she spat. The last part wasn't true thought, medicine wolves were often in battle and often killed for their lack of battle expirience. A fallen medicine wolf in my pack was sad to say, extremely common.
"Just save her, she's a good wolf and doesn't mean to do wrong" Berry pleaded.
"Fine, but after I do I expect you to behave, and if she decides to leave again I can't force her to come back you know" I told her. Before she could say anything I jumped to my paws and sprinted towards her strangly sweet and distinctive scent. As I grew closer and closer to her, the boder the scent became sour and smelled of blood. I thought she had just left to be away from the pack, why do I smell blood? Without even thinking about it my legs move faster towards the mix of scents. I skidded to a hault.
"Rogues!" I whispered to my self, focing myself not to growl.
" Hold still so I may break that little neck of yours" the large black wolf snarled. Slowly I crouched down into a hunters crouch and sliently moved behind the blueberry bushes behind them.
"Please let me go" Sapphire pleaded. The wolf holding her back leg growled and bit down harder. More blood came to the surface.
"Vixen there's someone around" the large black wolf snarled, but to late. I lunged for the wolf called Vixen and tore at her side. She howled in pain and fury. Vixen put all her weight on her front paws and sent me flying backwards by kicking me with her back legs. My back the ground hard, knocking the air from my lungs. In an instant Vixen was hovering over me about to sink her jaws into my throat when I rolled away down hill. She may of had me pinned, but I know the terrain of my territory I thought grinning.
"Vixen lets go!" Viper ordered. She was hesitant, but then followed along. I didn't feel like chasing after them, my chest still hurt from where she kicked me. Sapphire whimpered and fell to her side, but I was quick enough to catch her.
"Come on your feet. I thought rogue's were supposed to be tough" I growled, but she didn't acknowledge that I'd said anything. Once she has back on her paws I quickly recoiled away from her.
"Lets go" I ordered her and she slowly followed behind me. She fell a few times on the way back, but I made no attempt to help her up. I refused to help her any more than I already had. I pushed my way through a thicket of dense river reeds and paddled through the the deep water.
"Come one" I growled at Sapphire who stood on the other side of the river. She fell into the water and struggled to swim through using her one good front paw and one good back paw. I didn't care, though. I refuse to care, I refuse I kept telling myself. Her head went under the water once she reached the center, and I waited for her to come back up.
"Sapphire hurry up!" I snarled. "Sapphire?" I snarled her name again. "Sapphire!" I called, worry now heard in my voice as I jumped in. She sunk down farther and farther to a point I almost couldn't see her. My jaws held onto her scruff and using the last of my own strength I surfaced to clean fresh air.
"Sapphire!" I called her name again, and gently pressed a paw on her chest. Her eyes fluttered open and she coughed up water.
"Are you ok?" I asked. She nodded without making a sound and started walking. I hurried up to keep in front of her. Alpha is always first, and his mate... I thought. Once through a thicket of river reeds we walked into camp.
"Sapphrie!" Berry called, Sapphires eyes lit up a little. Why don't they light up like that for me... not that I care just wondereing...
"Lets go take care of you darling" Berry said letting Sapphire lean on her for support.
"Thanks for taking care of your alpha, yeah no problem alpha" I muttered.
"Come one, quite complaining" Berry growled. I coughed a little and followed along to her den.
"Allright, some chervil for the infection and some cobwebs to soak up the bleeding" Berry mummbled as she searched through the messy clutter of herbs. After she found them she treated Sapphires wounds and then turned to treat me.
"So what's with out" she asked in a flat tone.
"Got kicked in the chest" I wheezed the last part of the sentence. My chest was starting to hurt a little.
"Fine, what ever. Chew on soem coltsfoot and goldenrod" she said dumping the herbs at my paws.
"Jeez, no respect huh?" I muttered quietly. I swallowed the bitter tasting herbs and slunk back to my den.
"Escuse me" asked a quiet voice. "Berry go away" I growled softly. Great I'm loosing my voice I thought.
"It's not Berry" said the voice a little louder.
"Go away Brownie, and if it's Venom or Ryder leave the problem alone" I growled even quieter.
"No it's not Brownie or them" the voice said, I could here their paws steps coming near. My nose twitched as I inhaled deeply a sweet and distinctive scent. Stop it I thought growling at myself.
"Enter" I told her.
"Th-thanks for saving me" she stuttered quietly. She was thanking me? A rogue?
"What ever" I mummbled quietly. She turned to leave but I stopped her, "why did you leave" I asked her trying so hard not to let any hint of emotion show through.
"you said you wanted me as far away from you as possible and I don't like it here" she growled, her tail stiffened and ther fur on her back rose.
"I didn't mean for you to leave, I just don't want you around me!" I growled, though I hadn't meant to growl at her.
"Fine then leave me alone" she growled.
"Stay away from me" I growled. "Wouldn't want to be near you anyway" she growled.
"The feeling is mutual rogue" I spat at her, the last word sounded hoarse. I tried to say more, but my voice was lost. Great...
