Until she met her.

Persistent and arrogant. Beautiful and talented. Cocky and flirtatious. Lisa Manoban was someone she didn't think she would cross paths with until that night her new friend dragged her into a place of shots and booming music.

Chaeyoung wasn't planning to give her heart to someone that soon and especially to someone with that kind of attitude. But as stubborn as Lisa was, she tried everything to win her heart, even if it was all just a game to her.

"Welcome to Seoul."

Park Chaeyoung, or Rosé, stepped out of the airport along with her older sister Alice and into the world of sleepless nights. As someone who visits Seoul almost every other year, the only phrase that comes to mind every time they visit Seoul is "mind-numbingly big."

After they take their seats in the back of a black car with the cool, windy evening air, Chaeyoung catches her breath at the view from the car window. The capital twinkles like a vast field of fireflies. Like a woman's wispy dress that has slipped off it's hanger, the city shimmered and fell in fantastic folds, held up by its glorious pride, a discarnate iridescence suspended in the ending summer's air.

The city was a vast, intricate, labyrinth of noisy, streets and alleys. You could hear the incessant honking of the vehicles even before the sun rose. Impatient businessmen who had to get to the office, mothers who had to leave their children them on the first day of schools, facing the puzzling challenge of navigating through the crowd of parents and children; even some of the teachers who had stopped at the local bakery to get a bagel or two before their morning classes.

After every person had reached their respective destination, the traffic congestions cleared significantly as if humungous snakes had eaten their fills and were retracting back into their dark and eerie caves. The car they were in arrived closer to the beautiful capital of South Korea. Chaeyoung could smell the fresh batch of sweet and spicy rolls being baked for the lunch hour rush. To her, it was a clear sign of the city slowly waking up, given how early it was for them to arrive. She anticipated to see what the new day would bring for everyone, new tenders, business proposals, math homework, even hope.

"Unnie, where will we be staying?" Chaeyoung look over to the side in the backseat, facing her sister.

"Mom and dad got you an apartment right next to mine, rather than having to pay big bucks for a tiny dorm room," Alice replied with a smile, "I would've been fine with you living with me but fortunately, the lot right across from mine is empty. We're neighbors."

Alice let her glasses slide down the bridge of her nose, enough to show her winking eye. In return, Chaeyoung rolled her eyes and giggled, looking back out the window.

"Are you exited to be studying here?" her sister asked, before pulling out her phone to check on something.

"Yeah, I can't wait," Chaeyoung nodded eagerly, happily agreeing to what she was saying, "but I am kind of nervous. You know, I'll have to get accustomed to how everything works here, and I'll need to have a routine from dusk 'til dawn, and then I need to plan—"

"Relax, little one," Alice chuckled at her sister's rambling, "You'll be fine, Rosie. If you're still the girl I knew while we were in Australia, you'll be completely fine. Besides, you have me, if anything happens."

The car dropped Chaeyoung and Alice off at a very tall but large apartment building along with their belongings. They now stood in the pretty hallways with their backs to the silver elevator and suitcase handles in their hands on floor seven. They drag their luggage across the hall looking for room 237 and 239. Once they reached it, and after Alice gave her the key card to her new home, they split their ways and stepped into their apartments.

Chaeyoung was greeted by a small little room at the front door where she left her shoes and suitcases at, deciding to bring them in later to get a lay of the land. Stepping further into the arpartment, which was larger than she thought it was, her mouth parted in shock and her eyebrows rose.

The room is like a perfect magazine cover. Chaeyoung was afraid to sit in case she would wrinkle the fabric or stain it with something she didn't even know is on her pants. The couch is cream but inlaid with a fine light blue silk; leaves embroidered so delicately that they might have landed there in spring and just sunk in, but she knows they took hundreds of hours to sew. The white curtains are linen, the kind of white that is untouched by hands and devoid of dust. A cursory look to the right shows her the almost hidden cords that are used to open and close them. With empty book shelves along the walls, empty television set and a pretty table in the living room, right in front of the couch. The floor was high polished wood, light and free of either dust or clutter which also let to a glass sliding door leading out to the balcony of city views in a bird's vision.

There was a clean kitchen with marble white counters, black and blue cabinets and a fancy automatic faucet, along with decorated plates, dishes, and knives hanging about. Chaeyoung explores a bit more, until she reached a bedroom. Her bedroom was large with a lot of space and a white desk near the tall windows. She reverently rubbed her fingers along the silken mattress. She pressed her cheek to the cool, velvet pillows. The comforter was thick and irresistibly soft, like a billowing cloud. She toppled into it, relieved to rest her weary feet. Warmth and darkness enveloped her. She soon succumbed to the call of sleep.

A week goes by and Chaeyoung's college days with start in less than four days. The hours couldn't get any faster and the closer it came, the nervous she got. Her Korean was better than the last time she lived in Australia. She practiced and even watched videos to improve her grammar, but she still can't get some of the big words. It was okay, though. She knew enough.

Alice had been helping her a lot with her move-in very often, but they still haven't even finished packing. Chaeyoung's got some sentimental values towards everything she had brought with her from Australia like tokens of her cheerleading squad, pictures of her family, and even a photo of her two fish.

Throughout her spare time, Chaeyoung spends it either at the library, exploring her new school's campus, or at the park working on her songs and playing her guitar. She found peace playing her guitar near the waters of the park and made it a routine to ride her bike every morning when she's free. She always found herself going on sisterly dates to this cute café with Alice sometime during the day and when it started happening a lot, she explained to herself that she needed to socialize more to get more friends rather than just being with her sister.

And that was when she met her.

Walking about on the campus, Chaeyoung finds herself looking for the school library, knowing it was quite large enough to not miss. Her earbuds were in her ears as she hummed a soft tune in the hallways keeping her hands inside the pockets of her white hoodie that seemed to be a tad bit too large for her. At times, she knew where she was going and sometimes she didn't, gettin lost like a tiny puppy.

As she turned on the corner, she suddenly slammed her body against another person, both falling on their bottoms yelling out a tiny squeak. Papers flew in the air and slowly floated back down to the floor. And as you know, when Chaeyoung gets nervous, she'll speak like a foreigner.

"Oh, my god." she started, as her eyes widen, english words along with her slight Australian accent spilled from her mouth, "I'm so, so sorry! I didn't mean to run into you."

Chaeyoung hurries up to help collect the fallen papers on the floor along with the girl who bumped into her. She heard her stutter a bit before saying four words.

"I'm Jisoo. I'm okay!" the girl smiled widely.

She was dressed in a long creamy cardigan and a pair of black shorts, holding the papers Chaeyoung helped her get tightly against her chest. She was a very pretty girl with her prefect nose and lips and her straight black hair. Chaeyoung smiled and fixed herself up as they both stood on their feet, letting herself speak Korean now.

"I'm really sorry about your papers." Chaeyoung spoke, "Are you sure you're alright?"

"Ah, so you do speak Korean," Jisoo nodded in assurance, speaking in her native tongue as well.

"Of course, I do!" Chaeyoung laughed, "Probably not as good as you, though."

Soon after the two met, Park Chaeyoung and Kim Jisoo were an inseparable duo. With Jisoo's wits and goofiness, she became nicely accustomed to the younger girl's innocent playfulness.

And even though they had just met recently, it was that kind of friendship that blooms in the center of your heart - that kind of friendship that grows from the seed basking in the warm soil to a vast tree with many ups and downs, many - but not enough to disguise the enormity or the grandeur of such a tree, the sheer brilliance and beauty of it.

As the candy floss clouds bleed into the sunset; Chaeyoung's eyes gaze through her apartment window - the clear glass defending the barrier of blues. Swiftly, the sun casts burnt orange into the evening, not quite reaching into the darkness below the building, how the slivers of shadow yearn for night to revive them.

Jisoo, wearing a white large sweater and her black leggings, laid across Chaeyoung's living room couch a long with a book hovering over her face, propped up by her arms. Chaeyoung was getting ready for the night, dressed in her pink silky pajamas and shorts, munching down a bowl of cereal on the table right in front of Jisoo.

It had a been a board game night for the two of them, playing games such as Clue and Monopoly. They were supposed to try and borrow Alice's game of Jumanji for the night, but she was already fast asleep.

School was starting in two days and Chaeyoung was more excited than ever. It was all she would talk about. Besides, she even prepared all the things she was going to bring, to wear, and to use on the first day of school.

Jisoo, on the other hand, didn't care much about the new year of school starting as it was her second year. She set the book down on her tummy as soon as she realized something.

"Hey, Chaeyoung?"

The younger girl looked up innocently, tearing her eyes from the cereal bowl, her mouth still full and plump with cereal. She hummed in response to Jisoo, setting her spoon down with a small clank.

"We should go to this party tomorrow," Jisoo suggested, her eyebrows rising, "It's like a little gathering for the people attending the school. It's always held before school starts and no one misses it. We should go."

"Hm, maybe," Chaeyoung hesitated for a second, "What kind of party is it?"

"You know, the usual. Drinks, dancing, loud music and stuff," Jisoo informed, "It's at this place called the YG. It's a café during the day and a bar and club at night."

Chaeyoung thought about it hard. It would've been her first time going to a party like this. She thought about how the night would go and the endless scenarios that could happen in one night at a club. Besides, it wouldn't hurt, right?

"Sure, let's do it."

The music was so loud that it made her skin tingle and lungs feel like mush. The bass thumped in time with her heart beat as though they were one, filling her from head to toe with music. she liked this song. Over the roar of music, a distant, hazy chatter could be heard. She couldn't make out any words, but laughter rang in her ears and wouldn't seem to stop. The song that was playing got louder, pulling her in and wouldn't let go. She had no choice but to join the crowd, jumping in a huddled group like Tic-Tacs being shaken in a box.

Night had fallen fast upon the land. No more than an hour ago the sky was painted with hues of red, orange and pink, but all colour had faded leaving only a matt black canvas with no stars to be looked upon.

Lisa Manoban, tall and loved by many in the place she was in, stepped out of the large crowd of dancing heat and took her body towards the bar. She leaned over the counter, placing her butt on one of the high black stools, before speaking loud enough to be heard over the loud booming music. The music was as loud as thunder; it made the cutlery on the tabletops rattle. Neon lights flashed everywhere like police sirens, but much more colourful.

"Jennie, could I get a drink here, please?" Lisa spoke with both a sultry and low voice with a grin lingering on her lips.

"The usual, Lalisa?" Jennie asks anyway, even though she knew her answer, taking out two glasses and a bottle of London dry gin.

The taller girl hummed in response, looking over the shorter bartender who manages the whole place. She was dressed in a black tight long-sleeved dress, with a denim jacket right over her apron. Lisa, on the other hand, sported a well-fitting skinny jeans with embroidery along the sides and a black leather jacket over her white blouse.

"You got a target today?" Jennie asked out of curiosity as she prepared her drinks for her.

"Hm, not yet." Lisa sighed. The night was boring enough already, "I haven't found someone, yet. No one's catching my eye... Except you."

Jennie pushed her hair back and chuckled mischievously at the blonde, her hair dyed a lighter brown, "You know very well it's not happening, Limario."

Lisa groaned in annoyance, "Don't call me that, Jen!"

"Bottoms up, honey." Jennie smirked and placed her drinks on the counter, swiftly moving to the next customer.

Lisa just shook her head and closed her eyes, pulling one of the glasses into her hands. Spinning the stool around, she leaned against dark marble counter, scanning the groups of people around in the room. Some were passed out on the couches in the booths, some gambled and played games, and others just danced or drank. It was the same usual night that she had always witnessed and she was getting tired of it.

She sighed and took tiny sips of her drink before her eyes landed on a pair of girls who had just entered the room. She's seen one of the those faces before. Yes, that was Kim Jisoo, a respected woman around these parts although she doesn't usually spend her time here. And Jennie knew her.

And there was a girl right next to her. Tall and beautiful. Wearing a tight and short, light pink mini skirt held with a black belt at the top of her hips and a tight black, long-sleeved shirt. And her face — the girl that walked in could have graced any billboard or magazine cover, but she was better than those two dimensional photoshopped models. Somehow, her imperfections made her perfect. And there was a shyness to her, hesitation in her body movements and a softness in her voice. Her outfit bold and cute against her light skin. She was right there, only feet away, but in her understated glamour, she might as well be on the television or a girl in a pop video.

Lisa shook her head, getting her own mind out of the gutter and drank the last of her glass, leaving her second drink alone and untouched at the counter. She fixed up her jacket and stood up, making her way towards the pretty girl.

She found her target.

As soon as she reached the girl, a smirk tugged on her lips as she placed one of her hands into her leather jacket, trying to seem cooler than she already was. She looked over to the girl, Jisoo, and asked a question.

"Hey, Jisoo," Lisa said, "I think Jennie wants to see you at the bar."

"I can see her later. I need to keep my friend some company," Jisoo replied as she eyes the bar by walls.

"I'm fine, Jisoo," The girl said, running a hand through her dark locks, "You can go see your friend."

To Lisa, her voice sounded perfect and pretty and innocent. In fact, she sounded way to innocent and cute. Lisa smirked, knowing that she would have fun with this one. Especially, if she behaved how she wanted her to.

Before Jisoo left and walked towards the bar, she whispered something in the other girl's ear. It was something Lisa could not quite catch, but it was fine. She was alone with girl, now, and that was all she needed. Alone time and her approval.

"Hey, I'm Lisa," the blonde greeted.

"I'm Rosé," the girl replied before saying, "Actually, you could also call me Chaeyoung, which is my Korean name. I haven't really figured out what people should call me."

Lisa chuckled, smiling with her teeth now. The girl Rosé, or Chaeyoung, was cute. Very cute. She even wondered if she shouldn't even play with her, but she was going to do it anyway.

"Well, Rosé or Chaeyoung, I think you're a very stunning girl and we should go get a drink at the bar. I promise you'll have a good time," Lisa offered with a smirk of pride, knowing that no one could ever turn her offer down. No one has.

But, to her surprise, the tables have turned.

"Um, actually, I think I'll pass. I'm sorry," Chaeyoung looked at her with a slight guilt in her eyes before adding, "I think I should catch up to my friend over there. It was nice meeting you, though."

Lisa watched her walk away. It was a sight she had never expected to see — someone walking away from her. Usually, the only reason someone would walk away from her was because she threatened them or she told them to leave. She stood there baffled at her actions with her eyebrows furrowed.

No one turns her down. It's never happened before.

Lisa took another glance at the beautiful girl who was now sitting and smiling at whatever Jisoo was talking about and she couldn't help but feel a slight throb in her heart telling her to do something about it.

And she was.
